Still bemused why this gets reported like some big deal. viruses mutate - always been the most likely outcome. and soon a strain will appear that the vaccine is less effective against. Etc etc.

What are the details of these studies ?

The real protective effect of the vaccine will not be known before months, when a percentage large enough of the population will be vaccinated. Up to now, it is a lot of assumptions to be confirmed.

Viruses cannot mutate if they cannot find a host. Ergo, the best way to cut down on mutations, some of which might be resistant to some vaccines, is to vaccine the general population ASAP.

No way, maybe vaccinations are more or less useful, but they of course also increase the speed of such mutating.
