We tried our plan -- and it worked.

Good on ya, RR - you finally scored! Yes, the GOP has tried their best to keep unemployment up, to prevent economic recovery, to sabotage this presidency - and it has worked ... well, well. The GOP House is a bloated intestine unable of passing anything beneficial to the nation. Traitorous it might be called if callously foolish were not more appropriate: Many in the GOP do not even seem to comprehend the damage they are doing.

Nor do many of their supporters.

Nope, bass, not joking. Repubs love to claim how "Obama had two years where he and the Dems controlled all 3 branches of government" (love that claim! - like the Dems controlled the Supreme Court - but never mind). In fact, the Dems controlled one branch - the executive - and held a stalemate in the legislative. Look it up.

The "stimulus" was eagerly sucked up by even Republican governors as the vast majority of it went to replenish depleted state revenues. Yep - all of them. Republican governors begging Obama to save them from their fate. And it is a good thing that they did for it is the only reason that Florida does not look like Greece.

Your team has brought nothing to the game except name calling and clock-ending obstructionism. You fall back on issues even your own party could not solidify behind (Keystone, Afghanistan) that at any rate have no bearing on the current economic situation. You bemoan the deficit yet offer no solutions. Your candidate has nothing to offer except a revamped Bush policy - and see where that has gotten us.

Yes, Americans are not only correct in blaming the GOP for the stagnant economy, they are also still correct in laying blame for its cause at the foot of Bush and his party. Romney would double down on that - for some, economic recovery is relative. Romney has great experience in prospering regardless of the fate of those he influenced. The idea that this man cares a wit about the fate of American workers beyond his portfolio leaves me rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.

Smith,

The article clearly states that the unemployment rate increased in June.

The jobless rate rose, however, to 8.3 percent from 8.2 percent in June.

I thought all of these tax cuts for the "job creators" that Republicans fought so hard to keep would be creating more jobs by now?

"hope for the U.S. economy"

Yeah, I hear Obama doesn't have a lock on being re-elected.

Plus-95,000 net was the expected number, so plus-163,000 is a bit of a surprise.

http://www.npr.org/2011/08/05/99136097/tracking-u-s-monthly-unemployment

The U.S. Jobs Plus/Minus Net Change has been adding jobs since Oct 2010, but the U.S. needs to average about plus-128,000 just to keep up with demographics - and it has to average more than that in order to recoup the jobs lost due to the 2007 recession.

"“I Am Pledging To Cut The Deficit We Inherited By Half By The End Of My First Term In Office.”

Scream all you like from the fringe, Republicans have obstructed everything to the point of treason.

Heh, it's funny to watch y'all rally behind the mega-rich Mormon that wouldn't go away.

So from what I'm hearing so far on JT is one has to be an ultra lefty or an ultra righty to post here huh? This isn't a sports game where team A is better than team B. Being 100% conservative isn't the way to solve all the problems, and neither is being 100% liberal. The responsibility of running the country and solving the issues that face it lies with both parties, and when one tries to lock the other out to progress their own political agenda, they're ruining the country because of it.

"New jobs report presents mixed blessing for Obama," says the Associated Press. Did the Associated Press ask the people who don't have a job if it is a "mixed blessing?"

The 8.3% is misleading because that figure does not include people who stopped looking for work and people who stopped receiving unemployment benefits. The 8.3% does not explain why 1 out of 7 people are on foodstamp. How can the unemployment be at 8.3% and yet i out of 7 people are on foodstamp is a contradiction as to the state of the US economy.

Hayden Wellstone: OK, George Bush kept us safe but getting Osama counts for nothing. That's what your saying.

My previous answer was that the death of Bin Laden will not do away with international/domestic terrorism.

Hayden Wellstone: As for your "govt. does not create jobs." Well it certainly doesn't when the Republican party blocks every effort to do so. And apparently you've never heard of the CC camps. Google it and then you can give up your govt. doesn't create jobs meme and maybe people will take you seriously.

Obviously you did not make the connection between FDR (in my previous comment) and the New Deals which the CC camps were created to provide jobs. That is not the case today on a large scale. There were a few roads and public transportation along with technology that the government give money to. The times are different today because all those infrastructure are already in place due to the CC camps during 1933-1942. Obama bailed out GM, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the financial system with taxpayers money. The trend today is bailouts (billions of money). Obama passed the stimulus bill which didn't have a lot of effect on the economy.

Obama is anti-businesses which he had put up red tapes on businesses. The Democrats have a majority in the house and the senate during Obama's first two years as president. The Democrats should have implemented policies that give businesses the ability to grow. The Democrats and Obama passed the Afforable Care Act so blaming Bush and the Republicans is irresponsible on your part when the Democrats and Obama could have done a lot more for the people during those two years and paved the way for a recovery.

Jobs and the economy should be the main issues in this coming election. With stimulus, Obama promised jobs for the middle class, and we got over 8% unemployment, largest deficit in history of America ($15T.), and bigger government. Small business and private sector create jobs and revenue. So far, Obama's economy is not working. It is time to focus on "HOW" rather than all forms of distraction employed. Spreading the wealth is not working, rather creating burden for next generation. Really, numbers do not lie as cheap words from politicians and their bots.

For what jobs that have been created our president should thank those responsible.

Unemployment has dropped in every single state that elected a Republican to the office of governor in the 2010 mid term elections.

The hard core change in the right of this country is stark to see. Just 4 short years ago, a man was considered to be a good president because, despite the economy, he kept us safe from terrorism by keeping the terrorist attacks in America to only 3 (granted, one of them was the biggest attack on America in the country's history post WW2).

Now, we have a president who has kept us safe from terrorist attacks for 4 years and nailed Bin Laden. Why all of a sudden does he have to be good at the economy? It was just fine to put a war on the credit card and listen to your president and go out shopping but it didn't make the world a better place, it made America worse.

Now republicans are stupid so I don't expect any of them to grasp Newton's laws of motion. The country was in a downward spiral when President Obama took control. He's had to stop the downward momentum, and then turn it around, with an entire political party trying to stop his every move. That takes time.

Republicans only have time for unfunded wars fought by other people. They are a disgrace to America and a pox on the world.

The death of Bin Laden does not make the world any safer.

Obama put up regulations on businesses.

OhioAmerican closing Jefferson County mine, blaming Obama administration ‘war on coal’ @ http://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2012/08/02/ohioamerican-closing-jefferson-county.html

It looks like you have no idea of the role of government plays when it comes to job creation. Government do not create jobs, it is through policies that are implemented by the government that promotes the growth of businesses.

Obama never kept any of his 2008 campaign promises did he???

Republicans only have time for unfunded wars fought by other people. They are a disgrace to America and a pox on the world.

War is ugly, but what you are saying is that you would rather see people in other countries suffer under a terrible regime than fight for freedom. Freedom will always comes at a cost. You are a perfect example why Obama is secretly funding the Syrian rebels. You are the reason why Obama bypass Congress and give the UN the word go on Libya.

Now republicans are stupid so I don't expect any of them to grasp Newton's laws of motion. The country was in a downward spiral when President Obama took control. He's had to stop the downward momentum, and then turn it around, with an entire political party trying to stop his every move.

Obama is not FDR. FDR turned the country around. The country is not getting better is it??? Instead of giving rhetoric speeches provide evidence where the Obama took control. Obama bailed out GM and GM is paying hundreds of millions to advertise in the UK in regards to Manchester football. GM is opening plants in China and hiring Chinese workers. Obama have outsourced American auto workers jobs overseas.

skipbeat,

OK, George Bush kept us safe but getting Osama counts for nothing. That's what your saying.

I'm sorry but I can no longer take you seriously.

As for your "govt. does not create jobs." Well it certainly doesn't when the Republican party blocks every effort to do so. And apparently you've never heard of the CC camps. Google it and then you can give up your govt. doesn't create jobs meme and maybe people will take you seriously.

As for now, I point and laugh.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

skipbeat,

You are still judging Obama differently than you did Bush. Why is that? You don't think getting Osama was important? Is it because Bush said so? He was DAMN important to me and the rest of America. Why can't you give Obama the credit for it?

As for the CC camps, my grandfather cut down trees in Minnesota and then replanted trees. It was busy work but it put people to work.

Obama is anti-business? I wish you guys would make up your damn minds. Is he in the pocket of Wall Street or is he anti-business? You can't have both and not be laughed at.

And you're saying the Democrats were supposed to fix the worst economy in America since the Great Depression in two years, with the republican party fighting against him tooth and nail, just because he's black.

You gave Bush decades to solve the War on Terror but Obama gets 24 months? Can't you see the overwhelming double standard you bear?

Again, and it's not a with you laugh. It's an at.

USA_gold: "Like he did when he was the governor of Massachusetts."

Was that before or after he sent a bunch of jobs overseas and put assets in his wife's name? I forget.

"I don't now about where it is you reside but everybody in America understands Romney is speaking of the unemployment rate"

Romney should talk about what he's talking about, instead of relying on his adoring fans to try and 'explain what he meant' since all he can do is commit gaffes and embarrass himself.

"No. For the simple reason that it was the uber Lefty, San Francisco counter culture hero and mass murderer "Reverend" Jim Jones whose cult and its demise is why we have that term. He conned 800 utopian leftists into committing suicide."

A completely off-topic attempt at deflection, but no reason why Romney isn't -- and he clearly is -- dipping into the Kool-aid.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

In 2009, the Obama Administration promised us, the American public, that after their nearly trillion dollar porkulus went into effect, the unemployment rate would drop to 6 percent at the end of his first term.

Democrats drank that kool-aid. The rest of us called it what it was: a payoff to groups that supported Obama and a massive slush fund to keep them loyal.

"Unemployment has dropped in every single state that elected a Republican to the office of governor in the 2010 mid term elections."

Indeed, I hear new evidence supports that Jesus H himself voted republican.

@smithinjapan

Some Romney, who threatens to destroy the middle class,

Like he did when he was the governor of Massachusetts. He just ruined the place. Right ?

calls a decrease in unemployment a 'hammer-blow' to the middle class?

I don't now about where it is you reside but everybody in America understands Romney is speaking of the unemployment rate. Stuck at 8 percent. It would be 16 percent if measured like it was when his father governed Michigan.

Is he dipping into the Kool-aid again?

No. For the simple reason that it was the uber Lefty, San Francisco counter culture hero and mass murderer "Reverend" Jim Jones whose cult and its demise is why we have that term. He conned 800 utopian leftists into committing suicide.

Obama is touting the 172,000 new jobs created in July. Funny thing though, he never mentioned the 195,000 jobs that were lost last month.

"The One" can't run on numbers that are going up, so, he looks for something that doesn't make it look as bad as it is here in the States.

Madverts: Scream all you like from the fringe, Republicans have obstructed everything to the point of treason.

Here is a listing of executive orders by Obama.

2012 Executive Orders Disposition Tables Barack Obama - 2012 @ http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/executive-orders/2012.html

Executive Order 13597: Establishing Visa and Foreign Visitor Processing Goals and the Task Force on Travel and Competitiveness

Executive Order 13598: Assignment of Functions Relating to Certain Promotion and Appointment Actions in the Armed Forces

Executive Order 13599: Blocking Property of the Government of Iran and Iranian Financial Institutions

Executive Order 13600: Establishing the President's Global Development Council

Executive Order 13601: Establishment of the Interagency Trade Enforcement Center etc.

Obama used executive order bypassing Congress on Libya.

Obama used executive privileges on immigration.

Stop blaming Republicans Obama have shown that he can do whatever he wants.

Was that before or after he sent a bunch of jobs overseas and put assets in his wife's name? I forget.

You always crack me up, you are in such denial, buddy. You liberals try it again and again, but that accusation has already been debunked.

http://factcheck.org/2012/06/obamas-outsourcer-overreach/

Factcheck, couldn't find anything on that, so Smith, try a different argument on Romney, the outsource ain't gonna work.

Romney should talk about what he's talking about, instead of relying on his adoring fans to try and 'explain what he meant' since all he can do is commit gaffes and embarrass himself.

If anyone should be embarrassed, it should be the President. These dismal job numbers are the absolute worst and yet, he talks about as if he made some stride. Romney may not be the most charismatic person, but I would much rather have a President that knows about the economy and knows how to create jobs and has a giant resume in doing that, unlike the current guy who looks good, speaks well as long as he has his trusty teleprompter, he's good to go. Otherwise, he just sticks his foot in his mouth, like last week, when he referred to entrepreneurs saying, " you didn't make it on your own" what Gaul!

Obama wants to think that all of America is going to drink his Kool- aid and the people are realizing that, he's nothing more than a Snake oil salesman!

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Laguna

You are joking, right? I know you liberals want to blame conservatives for everything, even if it's a lunar eclipse, you guys will always try and find a way to shove the blame. Blaming Obama is just inconceivable for you guys. The economy is Obama's, the stimulus (that failed miserably) was Obama's, borrowing from China, Obama's, implementing Obamacare, thereby raising taxes in an economy with an unemployment rate of 8.3% not to mention a ressesion, the war in Afghanistan (the proper and just war to fight, according to Obama) and there's more, so the GOP is to blame?? Obama had two years where he and the Dems controlled all 3 branches of government. Blocking the keystone pipeline ( which would have brought few hundred jobs in, but nooooo. Being against the The Repubs were completely marginalized and you want to say that Repubs and Conservatives are The ones blocking the economic recovery???? ROFLMAO

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Romeo

Obama is touting the 172,000 new jobs created in July. Funny thing though, he never mentioned the 195,000 jobs that were lost last month.

Yeah, Obama and liberals don't want to focus on that, that is why they want to deflect and make the issue about Mitt and it isn't working. but I understand. Discontent is growing and Obama knows it. If I were Obama, I'd do the same thing, futile it is, but hey, give it a shot and pull that wabbit out!
