The constant stream of lies and deceit, Johnson is totally untrustworthy unfit for high office.

It is irrelevant where ones views position over the political spectrum.

The duplicity and deception is shameful and demeaning for the country and people.

These two and their political careers are over!

Boris is an Eton old boy, Eton old boys don't look after themselves, but they are bound to look after their mates, in turn Boris' old Eton mates will look after him.

It,do this mean Johnson and Zelensky bromance over

What supersizes me is that only now are the conservatives turning against Johnson. They are the ones that chose him as a PM at a time when everyone knew that he is a complete johnson.

I saw Dominic Raab got wheeled out to answer for this. He looked like he actually soiled himself on national TV.

You couldn’t feel sorry for him. Anyone defending Johnson at this point deserves derision, not pity.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

Wow. The British hold their politicians to a much higher standard then we do in this country.

Brexit was built on lies and delusions based on past. Those lies are now coming home to roost.

Dead buffoon walking. Not only did he guide the UK to its biggest international disaster since the Gallipoli invasion, not only is he a boozy jerk who thinks the rules don’t apply to him, he’s perv-friendly (which should surprise exactly NO ONE.)

So long, BOJO. Somewhere Mrs. May is giggling softly to herself while pouring herself an extra-large measure of beefeaters.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

If he survives this, it won't be his final cock up - there will inevitably be more to come. He is a haphazard chancer who has been lucky to get this far.

The Tories need to dump him. Labour should pray he hangs on.

Javid and Rishi were quite happy to follow Johnson until they could see (literally) their chance to move up.

Boris and his repeating mishaps and mistakes are just too dangerous now-hell be able to write a few good entertaining books after he leaves though…

Just last month they voted for him in the confidence vote. They also know there will not be another vote for 12 months by the party rules. So I can only say/ask are they the two guests Pincher pinched (literally)?

There was talk about changing these rules even before this latest WTF moment.

It will be interesting to see if the next PM will be an Indian, Pakistani or Iraqi.

Good luck with that, the 1922 committee is full of Eaton old boys, not to mention all it would achieve is make the Tory party unstable.

No Government in the midst of a inflationary/cost of living crisis, a War in Ukraine, spiralling energy costs play musical chairs with senor cabinet portfolios responsible for steering the economy to a safe place.

Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid jockeying for position, as life in Johnsons twitching quivering political corpse ebbs away into triviality on the back benches.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Another nail in that despicable man's political coffin.

No mention yet of the shenanigans that went on while Johnson was foreign secretary getting taken care of while his wife at the time was having cancer treatment.

He has no morals.

Just wants power and obeys no rules.

A blight that is destroying the political fabric if the UK

9 ( +10 / -1 )

They can all go as long as that truss woman doesn’t become PM.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

all it would achieve is make the Tory party unstable

The Chancellor and the Health Minister just resigned.

Do you think Johnson is bringing stability to the party?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

After all that's come before, it's probably fitting for the whole thing to come down not with a wrecking-ball event of corruption, deceit, law-breaking, or incompetence, something so big it dwarfs all that has come before, but with the relatively trivial matter of promoting a (male-on-male) sexual harrasser. This in itself is small fry compared to what Johnson has got away with before. However, it is clear now that enough people in the Tory Party are so sick of him and/or see him as such a big election liability that the axe is going to come down. He may have wriggled out of much bigger problems than this, but those days are long gone.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

If the cabinet were forthright and sincere all would have resigned en masse.

Johnson would have been left with no option than to resign and a party leadership ballot process would ensue.

The slate would have been partially wiped clean as the new leader would be able to form a government without the toxic stench of Johnsons shenanigans.

The labour Opposition is calling for a general election, opportunism when considering, with Johnsons removal any resulting changes to Government would still have a resounding majority.

Keir Starmer poor timing and ill judged ‘make Brexit work’ speech then only to be shot down by members of his own cabinet and London mayor Sadiq Khan.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Rather like Trump, Johnson was handed the party in return for an election win - a Faustian pact if ever there was one. But Barnacle Boris won't give it back. Clearly a fan of realpolitik, if he survives this, he will assume that he can survive anything. But as his loyal cabal reduces in size, it also reduces in quality. And the quality wasn't that high to begin with.

Additionally, the natives are getting restless. There is zero trust out there. Covid restrictions? Not a chance. They can limit air traffic by capping security staff numbers at airports and letting the airlines take the blame, but a suspicious and sceptical public might soon start to twig that they are being lied to and manipulated all over the place.

Sunak and Javid have bailed in the hope of replacing him. Those who stick with him too long, will be too tainted to stay on.

The longer he is in charge, the fewer votes the Tories will get at the next election, even if they can get rid of him. They may have reached the point at which they can no longer win a by-election - any by-election, no matter how safe a seat it was. That voting pattern may carry over into a general election.

The only thing left for Tories to do if this fails, may be to change the rules, or vote against their own leader, repeatedly, in parliament. That would be unusual, but it might spare the UK from further damaging legislation.

The people who really want Boris to stay as PM? The opposition parties. Devoid as they are of personalities and policies, he is now their best political weapon by some distance.

Stay tuned folks.

No mention at all of the latest Carriegate scandal in this article?

Seems that back in 2018 Boris Johnson was trying to get this then-lover ( now wife) Carrie Symonds appointed as his chief of staff on a tax-payer funded salary of £100,000 a year, despite her having no qualifications for the job whatsoever. It also seems that a fellow MP walked into Johnson's office in the Houses of Parliament and caught the couple enjoying a Bill Clinton moment, so to speak.

An article published in the Times on June 18th this year about the scandal was quickly dropped "by orders from on high" and Carriegate was born. The Times newspaper is owned by Rupert Murdoch. At the time in 2018 Boris Johnson was married to Marina Wheeler, his wife of 25 years, who was undergoing chemotherapy and had had two operations for cervical cancer.

The Chancellor and the Health Minister just resigned.

Both ex-bankers, so should improve stability of at least the party, if not the country. Other than Major, how many PM under the current monarch has been a banker?

Do you think Johnson is bringing stability to the party?

I was referring to changing the 12 months between votes rule. AND certainly, shortening it will only invite troublesome bankers to constantly call for a no confidence vote.

Further to Alfie's point, there is clear evidence of Johnson going to cabinet meetings, coming to decisions, and then frantically phoning up to reverse the same decisions several hours later on the advice of his wife. It is also clear that he has made appointments at her behest.

Much of Johnson's hitherto popularity has rested on his "bit of a joker, a bit of lad" manufactured image. If it came out that he's under the thumb of his (unelected) wife, that popularity with Daily Mail/Daily Express readers immediately evaporates. Those newspapers are fundamentally misogynistic, and any man who listens to his wife is weak.

The "Emperor's New Clothes" are looking pretty threadbare to even the most vision-challenged voters who put this incompetent clown into No 10. "Après Johnson le déluge" , as the French would say watching the all too predictable Tory debacle from across the Channel, but the demise of Brexit is the more likely scenario now that the man who brought into Britain's election the "Trojan Horse" of Brexit is himself now toast, or just a burnt crumpet, as old Etonians might opine, "oven-ready" for the obscurity of the back benches.

Time to go Bo jo!

Here is the problem, evasion, duplicity, failure to take responsibility, numerous accusations of sexually inappropriate behaviour. Chris Pincher, remarkably was promoted to a deputy chief whips position.

Johnson forgot?!

Heads must roll in the sawdust, Johnson's first, after a thorough drains up maybe a general election necessary.

The choking stench of .deception now clear for the electorate to witness.

A bill clinton moment

Those jolly old brits are amusing.

Is this a reality edition/episode of Boris Johnson cameo in House pf Cards

Because Jacob Rees-Mogg actually maintains a straight face whilst defending the indefensible.

The ducking and diving is damaging to this countries integrity.

Bring back “Spitting Image” TV show. Or at least, “yes Minister”.

Mr Johnson is a bounder and a cad and an overall bad egg. He sets an appealing example to the country with almost everything he does, he is obese, he is terribly scruffy, he is a dreadful womanizer and he has even attempted to pay money to have a chap beaten up.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Pincher by name, Pincher by nature.

Johnson by name, Johnson by nature.

BJ by name, BJ by his now wife, while he was both working as foreign secretary and grubbing around for a well paid job for his mistress.

Not the first time either.

What a despicable person.

"Pile the bodies up" eh.

He seems to have modelled himself more on Thomas Cromwell than Churchill

They did. They weren't as good. You can't do more Yes Minister without the original three leads.

The one question that resonates, what possessed Johnson/cabinet office to promote Pincher to deputy chief whip in the full knowledge he was a sexual predator??!

maybe “it’s normal behavior” may be a reason. Even the queens son is at it.

How many more years does he get to stay in office? This is great!

I think you'd better be using hours not years.

Johnson is a dead man walking. I give him 3-4 days at best before he is gone.

Johnson can be ousted early as today Google BBC Boris Johnson

How many more years does he get to stay in office? This is great!

His administration is collapsing. His own freshly picked chancellor is saying he should resign. Along with his Home Secretary.

Johnson clearly doesn’t care about sexual assault. It’s jarring to see people defending this viewpoint.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

who do you think, among available choices, will be able to do the job successfully and receive support?

Perhaps mutually exclusive concepts. Which is worrying.

How many more years does he get to stay in office?

Under a 6th Century law passed by King Arthur he just needs to beat the Queen in a contest to throw a double decker bus over Big Ben and he can stay in office as long as he likes.
