McConnell and his party had six years to "compromise" and instead chose to obstruct its way to the least productive Congress in U.S. history. He and Boehner wielded a double-edged sword and the other side of the blade is swinging their way now.

On behalf of Team Democrat:
Bring it on. 'Cause you will lose, Republican.

Don't count on it JTDanMan.....your 'O-man' is in trouble. He has difficulty leading and compromising.
Robert, let's not neglect the least productive Senate either. Remember the buck stops there! Congress only pushes it.

MarkG: Remember.... Congress is the House of Representatives and the Senate combined. I'm including both of them in my criticism.

All I see is rich old men who just want to keep making more money. That's all the Republican's have shown they've been able to do when in control. Depending on how the next few years go after 2016 I just might decide to break this monotony of only choosing between Ditzy Dems or Richboy Repubs and make sure we have a legitimate 3rd option.

Increasing the definition of a full-time employee who must be offered health coverage at work to 40 hours from the current 30. It is common for politicians to try to bend statistics to meet their needs, but here, the GOP is 100% at odds with both common sense and expert opinion.
The chart at the bottom right of this report http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=4028 notes that, while only 7% of the US workforce work 30 hours per week, almost 44% work 40 - with a large number between 41 and 50. The article notes,
Common sense also informs that the costs of converting 40-hour employees to 29.5-hour employees would outweigh the benefits of not providing healthcare for the vast majority of companies - and this does not take into account the vast ill-will it would engender among its employees.
Once again, the GOP ignores both experts and objective reality to destroy something good for America simply because they can't stomach it.

People say the same thing about Obama's unwilling less to compromise, that's speling a failing presidency.
Yeah, we heard that in 2010 and in 2014. Seems like the DEMS have very, very short memories.
When did Obama lead??
Never will happen, Obama doesn't even understand what the basic definition is of a compromise.

Another brilliant move by Boehner! The gas tax - which funds the currently-crumbling transportation infrastructure - has been flat for so long that its real value has been halved by inflation (see: minimum wage), so John says:
He followed this up with a bit of sanity:
but what that would be, he fails to elucidate. Perhaps they will eliminate the supplementary nutrition program. Typical GOP: even bipartisan problems slapping you in the face fail to elicit any serious response. Well, there's always abortion.

Laguna, When in 6 years did the Dems EVER think about our cities crumbling infrastructure, was almost never brought up. Now it may not be much, but it's something, I know for Dems they want huge tax increases and both parties haven't done a good job when it comes to this issue, but for you complaining shows your partisan viewpoint.
Nice try. I think it was Michelle that tried to tell everyone what to eat and drink as I recall. But still waiting for the president to come from his perch get close to Congress and work something out, but doing that would require intellectual fortitude which he so desperately lacks.

The historical record shows, from economic growth and job creation to stock market performance and just about every other indicator of the health of American capitalism, the modern U.S. economy has almost always done better under Democratic presidents. Despite GOP mythology to the contrary, America generally gained more jobs and grew faster when taxes were higher (even much higher) and income inequality lower.

No one wants tax increases, but some people recognize the need for them in order to be able to further their country. Others are unreasonable in expecting that they should receive everything they want, without having to actually pay for any of it with taxes.
Coming from the guy who will argue until the end of time that Obama has been the worst thing that has ever happened to the country, and has not done a single good thing in six years, this comment is laughable. You are about as partisan as it gets.
