From the Georgia website:

"All Georgians can be tested for COVID-19 (coronavirus) — with or without symptoms.

Testing for COVID-19 is free from health departments and other state government providers."

So as part of an answer to P.Smith's rhetorical question - cost in this red state is not a barrier at least. Maybe they need to mandate everyone to go get tested?

No, that sadly falls on these Democrat governors

Typical Trump supporter MO. If it's anything negative, deflect all responsibility on everyone else. If it appears positive, accept all responsibility for it.

Even if this had happened under Obama, most Americans would resist wearing masks. I do not blame Trump. The national character rejects such blind conformity.

Well, Obama had the pandemic response team in place. They had a plan and strategy, but Trump came in and dismantled it all. Way back when Ebola became known in West Africa, Obama sent in a response team to get a handle on it. As a result, only on case of a person infected with Ebola reached America's shores. If Trump had such foresight and actually worked with the CDC to take such actions, things could have been so different.

Dang straight there's less people with COVID now - and we all know why....our great President's leadership!

Thanks to him, all the power has been turned off at 5G network towers so the virus doesn't spread...

He's used his genius to create COVID cures like Clorox and Alien DNA-infused drugs...

He's said wearing a mask is "patriotic"..., no, wait a minute...he said it was "Anti-American", no.....wait a minute...well, he's said both....

He's saved hundreds of thousands of lives - just ask Herman Cain...

Face masks are a very simple, cheap and effective means of reducing infection rates. If the Trump administration had been strongly promoting the use of masks much earlier, you have to wonder how differently things could have turned out. Seems the national character with regard to masks is beginning to finally change. Good.

Good news

What else do Bolsonaro and Trump have in common. hmmmm

Bolsonaro has a bone head, Trump bone spurs, but both have a lot of blood on their hands. The bill for both will soon come.

Blacklabel:. How did I know just by his unhopeful comments that he is a Clinton and Obama donor?

Show me a single time, ever, when you discredited an opinion as biased because it came from a Republican, or someone married to a Republican, or someone who donated to Republicans, or...

Seems like a one-way street for you.

While the U.S., India and Brazil still have the highest numbers of new cases in the world, the downward trend is encouraging.

The US is 'led' by Trump, Brazil by Bolsonaro. Both dismissed the seriousness of the virus early on. Both seem to accept as long as it was people at the lower end of the economic spectrum getting hit the hardest they wouldn't get too fussed. What else do Bolsonaro and Trump have in common. hmmmm

Great news. Here in Arizona everyone is wearing masks now, especially since nearly every store requires it. Good to hear people are finally waking up and the numbers are going down.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

the number of cases lowest since June 22 and the number of deaths lowest since August.

Spoken like a true Trumper. After all, only Trump will trivialize the number of deaths and tout that "only" having 177,000 deaths is "making progress" and "positive results". I'm not sure I like that kind of winning.

So the virus is slowing down because people didn’t listen to trump and his brainless followers!!

Kick him out in November and it’ll be contained.

“We’re grossly under-testing in some of the places that are still having high caseloads,” Quick said, singling out Mississippi, Texas, Georgia and North Dakota as hot spots with high rates of positive test results.

Now, what do all these places have in common? Can't put my finger on it but I red it somewhere.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Blacklabel:. KellyAnne Conway. alternative facts

Um, you chose a Trump advisor?

Show me a time when a judge ruled against Democrats and you discredited the opinion because the judge was appointed by a Republican or donated to a Republican or was married to someone affiliated with Republicans.

Just one.

Refer to the link I posted above. Hogwash is claiming face-nappies prevent Corona to be gospel.

"In other words, put your mask on" Those who wish to wear a face-nappy are welcome to do so. The unjustifiable, hysterical reaction to this virus is what is doing the real damage. We are in for a long haul.

but yes covid19 is not a virus

Yes, SARS-CoV-2 is the virus (there are multiple strains now) and Covid-19 is the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2.

A doctor being interviewed on the radio came up with a comparison that makes sense; he said that masks are to Covid-19 what condoms are to HIV.

A missile of political gain is incoming. Watch out!

Peter, also from website (which matches the experience of the one person I knew that went for a test due to a false positive of friend).

"Processing times vary, but you should typically receive results within 1 to 5 days."

0 ( +0 / -0 )

There were still 33,000 new cases today.

Fewer cases is good, but the count is still too high.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Experts credit masks. Republicans credit Trump. It's a no brainer, but still beyond the comprehension of those without one who bleat on that Biden would have been worse and millions more would have died.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Seems you're easily confused, that's not what I'm saying but yes covid19 is not a virus

So as part of an answer to P.Smith's rhetorical question - cost in this red state is not a barrier at least.

Results take 10 days or more in GA. That makes them useless.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

How did I know just by his unhopeful comments that he is a Clinton and Obama donor?

But insufficient testing is probably concealing the full extent of the crisis, said Dr Jonathan Quick, who leads the pandemic response for the Rockefeller Foundation, which has recommended the U.S. test 4 million people a day by fall.

“We’re grossly under-testing in some of the places that are still having high caseloads,” Quick said, singling out Mississippi, Texas, Georgia and North Dakota as hot spots with high rates of positive test results.

KellyAnne Conway. alternative facts. Luckily her husband puts out 10 times more nonsense from his side to make up for anything she may have done or said.

Show me a single time, ever, when you discredited an opinion as biased because it came from a Republican, or someone married to a Republican, or someone who donated to Republicans, or...

Seems like a one-way street for you.

is what I said untrue as far as the number of cases and number of deaths being on the decline?

Spoken like a true Trumper. After all, only Trump will trivialize the number of deaths and tout that "only" having 177,000 deaths is "making progress" and "positive results". I'm not sure I like that kind of winning.

"But studies have shown that the ordinary surgical mask does little to prevent inhalation of small droplets bearing influenza virus"

Donald Henderson (the guy who helped eradicate small-pox. He also mentions airport-quarantine is useless.

I think I'll take the word of one of the greatest epidemiologists of all time over newly-convenient, pro face-nappy findings by health officials.

But studies have shown that the ordinary surgical mask does little to prevent inhalation of small droplets bearing influenza virus

I think I'll take the word of one of the greatest epidemiologists of all time over newly-convenient, pro face-nappy findings by health officials.

Some more quotes from that article:

Patients would be advised to wear surgical masks to diminish the number of infectious respiratory particles being dispersed into the air, thereby diminishing the likelihood of further spread.

You see, it isn't about not getting the virus, it's about not giving it to others. And masks are helpful in doing that. Not 100% effective by any means, but much better than nothing.

Experience has shown that communities faced with epidemics or other adverse events respond best and with the least anxiety when the normal social functioning of the community is least disrupted.

In other words, put your mask on, wash your hands, keep your distance and get on with your life.

Goodlucktoyou: "Most countries that use/force/recommend paper masks have increased in infection rates."

Hogwash... at least the inference that it's due to the masks. Where's your proof, bud? And if you're going to cite an increase in infection rates in Japan or what have you, compared to whom overall? The US??

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Nice try at quoting but it didn’t work.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Lol Henderson wasn't even talking about covid19 right?

And he did acknowledge the value of masks as source control

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

“And he did acknowledge the value of masks as source control”

For the medical profession, with N-95, for limited periods. The daily masks worn in Japan he would regard of little use.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The decrease could also be due to greater honesty in counting. There were many reports of falsified results.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

well they were wrongly told by so many people including the WHO that masks made no difference!

.... so the WHO was clearly wrong

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The virus picks off the low-hanging fruit in every country. Unfortunately for countries which have high obesity rates, diabetes, heart disease, etc. that means they have a lot of low-hanging fruit to be picked by this disease.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

the number of cases lowest since June 22 and the number of deaths lowest since August.

Great news.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

“Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases. A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. The new virus was subsequently named the “COVID-19 virus”.

Sorry, who’s confused again?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Very Good news!

Thanks to Trump?

Thanks to whom?

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Most countries that use/force/recommend paper masks have increased in infection rates.

researching paper mask effectiveness has become increasingly difficult because of internet censorship.

testing should be mandatory.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

“but also insufficient testing”

Likeky the real reason. I doubt face-nappies have much to do with it

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

“Face masks are a very simple, cheap and effective means of reducing infection rates”

Got proof?

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The US is 'led' by Trump, Brazil by Bolsonaro. Both dismissed the seriousness of the virus early on. Both seem to accept as long as it was people at the lower end of the economic spectrum getting hit the hardest they wouldn't get too fussed.

No, that sadly falls on these Democrat governors and mayors that think in some bizarre way that money will just be endless and people can survive for months without working, meanwhile, in most countries people have learned to live and adjust their lifestyles in dealing with this virus. Democrats think that poor people don’t need to work.
