DeSantis, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair. I just, I can’t speak to that."

Trump "Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known, when he's unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are 'underage' (or possibly a man!),"

DR jr Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He's totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition.

This is getting fun!

The 76-year-old Republican would become the first former or sitting president to be charged with a crime if an indictment is filed -- a move that would send shock waves through the 2024 White House race, in which Trump is running to regain office.

I reject everything Trump stands for and hope for the best for DA Bragg.

Regrettably though this is going to be for Trump and the antidote to what was most feared, marginalization.

There is no bad publicity and this case is made for the media.

Finally Stormy D. STORM caught up with Trump and more storms to come, Mr. Teflon will be Mr. Silicone soon.

Around 40 supporters rallied outside Trump's Florida residence in Mar-e-Lago Tuesday in support of him.

40 people. It’s really quite sad. Could use a sharpie to change the 4 to an 8.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Let's see how tough the Donald looks when he's bent-over frog-marched out of Trump Tower in cuffs just like the two-bit con-man he is...

And no doubt we'll get more boasts from the MAGA-crowd about how more popular this will make him - taking pride in his crimes and unlawfulness and once again, getting played in his "defend me" money grift scam...

I just wish they bring him an orange jumpsuit to put on before he does his perp-walk...that would be some picture...

People don’t need to go, we all know as well as Bragg knows this will go nowhere and it won’t change the out of control crime in NYC or the continued exodus out of that state.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

Nothing's happened yet. If Bragg ultimately doesn't decide to press charges, it will be interesting to see Republicans walk back their comments. Rand Paul said Bragg should be sent to jail before anything has been decided.

Frightening.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It's the Georgia charges of election tampering that Trump really needs to worry about.

Someone should have told 45 before he begged people to “PROTEST! PROTEST! PROTEST!” Just another sign his star is dwindling.

Still a few more hours for his arrest, don’t give up hope guys!

Let them, and watch Bragg’s career take an even deeper political dive

I thought the Trump supporters here all wanted him to be arrested - you know, all that "he'll be more popular" faux bravado BS...

Sure - wait until he's frog-marched out for his Jan 6th call to insurrection, his classified stash and his phone call to Georgia too...he'll be uber-popular then...

Welcome to MAGA-world...

they are moving, along with the walls.

why do I have to “wait” again? You must be so disappointed, there was a date and everything!

Who did the date come from?

You must be disappointed, I thought this was going to seal the Dems doom or something like that.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Who did the date come from?

The suspiciously timed leak from the NY DA office.

I thought it was Trump who leaked the Tuesday date on Truth Social, no?

According to 45. And you believed him of course. Any evidence of those leak except a deranged tweet?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I thought it was Trump who leaked the Tuesday date on Truth Social, no?

nope, Trump was commenting on the media reports last week about the leak. People here were talking about it before Trump ever commented.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-says-illegal-leaks-indicate-will-arrested-tuesday-ny-hush-money-rcna75577

"Former President Donald Trump said Saturday that "illegal leaks" had indicated that he would be arrested Tuesday and called on supporters to protest.

Trump, in posts on his social media platform Truth Social, referred to reports that he could soon face possible criminal charges in New York relating to a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump did not say whether he had been informed by law enforcement of a coming indictment. A spokesperson for Trump later clarified in a statement that there "has been no notification, other than illegal leaks from the Justice Dept. and the DA’s office, to NBC" and other news outlets."

Black: now the narrative is:

What's the narrative from your sources?

Smart move that he came out swinging first before the DA’s could do another Roger Stone photo op, that threw these people off. So many prosecutors walked away from this and looking at the lack of evidence they probably thought more deeply about their careers first and realized this particular case is not even close to being worth the hassle.

What's Trump's narrative? that Trump did nothing wrong and this is a witch hunt of something from 17 years ago about an election 7 years ago.

What's your narrative? that Trump did nothing wrong and even if he had its a misdemeanor outside the statute of limitations. there is no federal crime to turn it into a felony. and if there was Bragg cant bring federal crimes from the state.

What's the narrative from your sources? that the NY DA leaked this with no intention of arresting him on Tuesday, but to take the heat off the Biden CCP payments while keeping the "walls are closing in" narrative going.

So if it proven he did something wrong, and it goes against your narrative, will you resist? Is your narrative that biased?

Carey Dunne

Mark Pomerantz

One person familiar with the investigation by the district attorney’s office told CNN that Bragg appeared “disinterested” in his office’s investigation into the Trump Organization while he was battling bad press stemming from a memo he had released detailing changes to prosecutorial policies.

Well, the "Florida Rockstar" as some Trump supporters here call him has weighed in again today on Trump's troubles.

If there was any doubt that the Republican governor misspoke or might walk back his Monday attacks on Donald Trump's character — just as the former president was staring down a looming indictment — the governor shattered them all in a follow-up interview with Piers Morgan of the New York Post.

DeSantis doubled down on his attacks against Trump in an interview published Tuesday, raising questions about Trump's alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels and calling his administration full of "daily drama."

*He also reminded readers that Trump was a loser,** indirectly referring to the 2020 election and the 2022 midterms when Democrats held onto more seats than expected. When Morgan asked him what he thought of "DeSantimonious," the nickname Trump gave him, the governor brushed it off and insisted he could defeat President Joe Biden.  "I don't really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it's long, it's got a lot of vowels," DeSantis told the New York Post of the nickname Trump gave him shortly before Election Day. "We'll go with that, that's fine. I mean you can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner because that's what we've been able to do in Florida, is put a lot of points on the board and really take this state to the next level."*

So Trump supporters, is Ron correct and is he still a "rockstar"?

I love it when he takes money from the rubes and puts it in his pocket. They deserve it and they did it to themselves.

CNN has reported. Some prosecutors, including Dunne and Pomerantz, believed there was sufficient evidence to charge, while others, including some career prosecutors, were skeptical that they could win a conviction at trial, in part because of the difficulty in proving criminal intent, people familiar with the matter said. On the one hand, some prosecutors believed Trump spoke with a lot of hyperbole, but it wasn’t clear whether they could show he acted with intent to defraud.

Yeah, go for it Dems….again…smh, every dog finds a squirrel every nut and then.

I think more than ‘so many’.

Except for the impeachments what has Trump ever been charged with?

He doesn't pay, so the lawyers won't play.

Crime has been increasing everywhere. By naming only one city you're just producing a disinformation narrative. I could do the same for GOP mayors and governors.

In New York criminal law, the statute of limitations for most non-violent felonies (including the one applicable to falsifying business records) is five years; for misdemeanors, it is just two years.

If Bragg cannot prove a felony – i.e., if he fails to establish not only that (a) Trump falsified records but also that (b) he knew he had committed some second crime and intentionally sought to conceal it by falsifying the records – the case should be dismissed as time-barred.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Readers, this thread will be closed for discussion for about two hours.

In New York criminal law, the statute of limitations for most non-violent felonies (including the one applicable to falsifying business records) is five years; for misdemeanors, it is just two years.

Bragg will of course argue correctly that 45 was outside NY for the vast majority of that term and that the statute clock wasn’t running.

I’m sure you are aware of this.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I’m aware that provision is for fugitives running from the law. not Trump who they have known the whole time where he was, including being in the building he owns in….NYC.
