Again, being fully vaccinated does NOT mean you cannot contract the virus - it just means you are less likely to contract it, far less likely to get sick, and less likely to transmit it to someone else.

And people tell me I am crazy for not wanting to take the vaccine. Well...!
yes you are, if you get infected youre more likely to develop serious condition and long term affects and even death. No the vaccine is not 100% fool proof but it is far better than not being vaccinated at all. these are the facts backed with plenty of evidence. Now if you can prove otherwise with legitimate medical data then go ahead enlighten us all
Peter14
All covid vaccines that are approved for use have undergone phase one and two testing with results on efficacy fully published and available to anyone online who bothers to investigate even a little.
wtfjapan
how many cases are unreported worldwide?
how many people have died from the vaccine in over 150million vaccinated? currently 3 million dead from covid19. got to love science always proves the deniers wrong
wtfjapan
Here we go again, another reason not to take the experimental, rushed vaccine. Really, what's the point of injecting an unknown substance in your body if you still can get the virus, have to wear masks,
again another that doesn't listen to the science, the vaccine is only about 94% effective which is very good.
but the 7% that do catch it will likely develop milder effects and long term effects.
non vaccinated people looking at about a 3% mortality rate and longer term respiratory effects later in life.
3million dead so far from non vaccinated covid patients. How many have died from the vaccines in over 150miilion vaccinated? This is too easy crushing the deniers with science and facts LOL

I don’t know why such wonder and panic. This has been known for at least half a year.

Its not surprising at all if you believe the moderator is an anti-vaxxer. The fact that the moderator allows blatant anti-vaxxer verifiable lies to be posted, but then deletes the posts that challenge them should tell you something about their beliefs.
Kaerimashita
And now we will go into another long panic about vaccines and efficacy and all. and so the endless restrictions and silly fearmongering will go on. We need to get over ourselves and treat this as we do other endemic viruses like flu and the like.

one another evidence that vaccine=not freedom.
wrong Australia NZ have plenty of freedom now theyre even starting their own travel bubble. meanwhile
those that scream FREEDOM the loudest are suffering the most in this pandemic. covid doesnt care what you say only the vaccinne will state otherwise
Peter14
"But the evidence from around the world, through the clinical trials, as published in the Lancet as identified by the WHO, is that the vaccines being used in Australia, the figures identified has been 100 per cent prevention against serious illness, hospitalisation and loss of life."

And you still think having that passport is a good idea? Really?!
yes Id much rather travel on a plane with fully vaccinated passengers than half a plane not vaccinated.
the airlines and governements will dictated if its needed or not, dying from the vaccine is almost zero, so you can listen to the science or dont travel by plane

I really feel these stories are potentially dangerous in a world where people, even some posters here, are so against science. They give fuel to their conspiracy theories.
Then again, I suppose these people would find other things to latch onto if not this. I don't think stories about how the vaccine is making a positive impact on so many lives is getting as much traction, not "exciting" enough.
I really do wish we would get less coverage of these kinds of anecdotes though, unless they really got to be serious events.

been reading the comments here .
well, I’m a frontline worker in NZ , I’m fully vaccinated . I’m not a huge vaccine fan but I’m also a believer in science and logic .
Pretty much a large percentage of the population here listen to science to a certain extent and mostly would adhere to govt mandates on coronavirus, that’s why we are living life as normal , the only difference is the impact on the economy - coz no tourism . Other than that we live life like it was pre Covid19. We’ve been a bit lucky as well .
But have you noticed that the people from places who shout the loudest about not wanting to wear a mask or not wanting to get the vaccine or not wanting to social distance.... you know , the ones who shout about FREEDOM and CIVIL LIBERTIES and believe moronic CONSPIRACY THEORIES , .....they are the ones in countries suffering the most .
of course , things in NZ can turn to custard at any time , because it is a virus we’re dealing with , it’s not something we can shoot with a gun or lock up in a jail cell .
Ah_so
Because the Prime Minister will still be travelling with a huge entourage of people, many of whom would not be vaccinated, and would be going to a city that has just itself entered lockdown. we also know that the vaccine is about 95% efficient, so he would still have a chance of catching it.

The re-infection could be a variant. The more different a variant is from the original virus, the less likely your memory-cells immunity to recognize it (it doesn't matter whether the immunity comes from a vaccine or from immunity due to infection)
(That's why don't spread the virus - spreading the virus creates more variants)
The worker didn't seem to develop a severe case, so that's good. The vaccines give people a good chance not to develop a severe case
That's the advantage of being vaccinated - you increase your chances of avoiding a severe case resulting from the virus infection. So even if you get re-infected, you'd feel safer that it won't grow into something worse

Which vaccine was used??

No wonder why he got sick.
His body was in contact with infected material 24/7

Sadly the ignorant anti-Vaxers and conspiracy theorist nuts can never be persuaded by logic or facts as their belief system is not founded on either but on irrational blind faith and emotion, in truth it is closer to a religion. Yes a man caught the Wuhan virus despite being vaccinated, no surprise there if you understand how vaccination works. Whether it should be reported so prominently and sensationally without a balanced rebuttal of any scaremongering that might result is moot.

No symptoms, detected in routine testing, not really news worthy

Here is something for my down voters to think about:
“Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread covid-19,” the website says. “However, international travel poses additional risks and even fully vaccinated travelers are at increased risk for getting and possibly spreading new COVID-19 variants.”
Website is:

@P. Smith
No, I was not being sarcastic.
Vaccination passport and a register are a different thing altogether. A register of those that have been vaccinated could be connected to the Social Security number or My Number in Japan. A vaccination passport is an individuals proof that one has been vaccinated that one can use to access venues/shops/restaurants that are only for fully vaccinated patrons. I believe the vaccination passport is misleading because one can still catch COVID and spread it to others. Therefore it is a dangerous idea.

Nowhere in our study of the nature of Nature do we find more variables crammed together in any one system than we find in Biology. The processes of Life are messy, very messy, and results almost never are exactly what you want them to be. And one of the most complex set of variables in the Human sphere is our immune systems. We barely understand ANYTHING about one of the most complicated systems we are aware of demonstrated by our complete lack of ability to even understand, much more, effectively treat ANY autoimmune disease in the very long list of Human autoimmune illness. You've been led to expect too much from us because Big Pharma and Big Med are always beating their drums about how 'safe' and all-knowing so-called "modern medicine" is in the hands of Corporate but, like all such Corporate pronouncements, it contains little of the truth. Yes. Vaccines are experimental by definition when confronting a highly variable physiological and viral landscape but they are all "modern medicine" has for us now. If designed properly (see: Dengvaxa), they properly establish 'immune memory' but require the local immune system to actually defeat the invader which may depend upon the overall health of the vaccine recipient. Another factor here could be a failed dose and especially with a substance so fragile as the Pfizer entry seems to be. How many people have received inadvertently inactivated doses? We are discussing Human behavioral systems vis-a-vis vaccine delivery afterall, and what Human system works perfectly and works perfectly when the demands for perfection are as high as with the Pfizer product? ALL of this goes into the 'effectiveness' of any countermeasure we might deploy for any reason. But, for the mass of us, the undeniability of vaccine success in history when properly designed, and the stark fact that WE HAVE NOTHING ELSE tells us that, like it or not, we only have four choices: Get the virus and survive, get the vaccine and survive, smoke cigarettes daily, or die of the virus. Oddly, daily tobacco smoking seems make it VERY difficult for the virus to survive in the tobacco tar coated, free radical rich, chronically low level inflamed (immune system), extravagantly mucussed upper respiratory tree of the active smoker. This last points us directly at the kind of variables that we must deal with and has been giving physicians serious attacks of cognitive dissonance since the validity of the supporting evidence has grown. So, yeah, Bjorn, it's a crap shoot however we look at it but it's the ONLY game in town...unless lung cancer seems and acceptable alternative.
Proper Science
These kind of articles really proves the point that the media is way worse at discouraging people from vaccinating and spreading misinformation about vaccines than actual anti-vaxxers.
SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, like most vaccines, is mainly to stop vulnerable people from dying.
This applies to all vaccines, but you can still get "infected" by the virus, but probably will show no or minimal symptoms, and your capacity for spread will be minimal.
A positive test just says that the RNA was on the sample, but really doesn't tell you much more, so stop making articles with disingenuous titles as a form of click bait.
Sadly, this is a very effective and very common way to spread misinformation, and people do not seem to be aware of it.

One of the reason why Japan wants to wait for its own vaccine that will never make it positive as their Made in Japan will be made pure by heart.
Before spending another billion dollars to others parties, hope they will come up with their own soon and help the world esp developing countries.
Paul
Like I said before "there are no guarantees"! That makes the whole idea of 'vaccination passports' completely pointless and dangerous...
Mirchy
However, if the effect of the vaccine is to reduce the possibility of infection and the more severe course of the disease, it would be correct to promote the vaccination of the elderly and people with associated diseases, rather than vaccinating everything that moves.
The vast majority of younger people overcame covid without complications and thus build herd immunity.

That is RICH! Lockdown, "Look world, this is how we do it!", no lockdowns, then lockdowns again after cases occurring in previous lockdown..., early covid detection app "made in NEW ZEALAND!", "bubble" travel with Australia, "Look at us! we've beaten covid!", covid from "vaccinated" airport worker.
Presumably, the passenger(s) are wandering around the country now?.
What arrogance and vanity!

Here we go again, another reason not to take the experimental, rushed vaccine. Really, what's the point of injecting an unknown substance in your body if you still can get the virus, have to wear masks, social distance and keep living in what is akin to hell and that has divided all of us for who-knows how long?
indigo
No offense but claims are not evidence. the natural immunity system do the Job for free. the medical companies want to make millions of dollars out of public taxes, easy to understand the brainwashing scenario.
Sven Asai
No surprise, as only extinguishing those viruses and variants will do. A strict lockdown for 70 days (that’s the max. time span the virus can survive in organic material like us, pets, wild animal, dead corpses etc.) plus standard deviation. I am always told that doesn’t work and the whole planet has to get used to live with the viruses and vaccine shots every 6 months. But do you even listen to what I say and give it a try once or twice? No? Of course, not. You just only insist in torturing yourself forever. Can’t be helped anymore....
Paul
I see I got some down votes to my post above. OK, lets see. So you had two vaccinations and you got your passport. Now you are free to go anywhere you want, then somewhere, somehow, unknowing to you, you caught it, but you got your passport in hand going anywhere you want spreading it to everyone around you! And you still think having that passport is a good idea? Really?! Having a register as to who had been fully vaccinated is a must.
Michael Machida
And people tell me I am crazy for not wanting to take the vaccine. Well...!
Bjorn Tomention
Vaccine is pointless, inject yourself with something that is unproven, untested and known to offer little protection to what you are being vaccinated against, makes perfect sense doesn't it ...............NOT!
Prove here the vaccine doesn't always work, line up, line up for more holy water ..
