Feel the Fern!

Once a Commonwealth Brit stiff, always a Commonwealth Brit stiff! Kiwis are stiff Brits, and they will always be. So no need to be cute as to change the flag ;-)

“If they don’t vote for change now, they’ll never get another chance until we become a republic,” he said, adding that he could not see that happening within his lifetime because of the popularity of the young British royals."
How a country could possibly oppose the idea of a head of state being an unelected foreigner who doesn't live in the country is beyond me.

Is this new flag part of some kind of joke from its neighbours? Its the Samoan and Aussie flags with a fern in the corner.
Put a slhouette of Josh Kronfeld in his scrum cap on a flag. That'll be enough to scare the sh*t out of any intruders..

the current flag looks WAY TOO similar to the Australian one so I hope they do change it.

The new flags looks ugly - surely they could have designed something better

As a New Zealander, I don't want the Union Jack on my flag. Particularly as a Catholic, I don't like a Protestant Foreigner being our head of state.
That said, the new option doesn't do it for me either. Not sure which way I will vote.

The best of British Luck to them----they are still Colonials!

@Akula
Religious sectarianism shouldn't play a part in this.

@Jimizo It is one of the reasons why I want a republic. Whilst I would never be disrespectful to someone who is the head of state of a nation that is mostly friendly to ours, I don't see why a foreigner should be our head of state.
