I bet it was China!
Cricky
Could be China, Russia...probably China. Either a threat to people living their lives out side of their influence.

After seeing the Tokyo stock exchange outage, I definitely worry for all Western nations in the age of cyberwarfare. The Solarwinds crisis proved that the West is losing the cyberwar against the authoritarian league. The new development in New Zealand is one more front that the West loses.
Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Vietnam, Turkey,... are winning against the West.

North Korea is another possibility!
Fighto!
I think you are overrating NKs ability. Yes, they are rising fast, yes, they are becoming very strong. But this attack has Communist China or totalitarian Russia all over it. Neither can be trusted by anyone and they despise the West. Easy to pick on little NZ.

Russia has been cited by the UN s a major contender in cyberhacking over the past few years. They hit Poland, Estonia, Armenia, Greece and installed the traitor Trump in the WH of the USA.
But we need to also bear in mind there are cyberpunk entities who hack anybody, anywhere for kicks. They have no allegiance to any government or even any corporations. They are Anonymous, Crybaby and various other modern day information pirates. All they want to do is cause internet mayhem. Cyberwar but with no cause.
Welcome to the era of cyberwar and cyberpunk. It was predicted in the 80s in sci-fy literature. Billy Idol made an album about it. It's been predicted in movies. It's right here, right now.
