I was watching the live feed from the Parliament Buildings over on stuff.co.nz. While I agree with them that mandates are an overreach, it looks like a bunch of unemployed dropkicks. Replace the Beehive with the beach, and it'd be the same scene.

"We're here as long as it takes," (Aucklander Sel Currie) said. "It feels very intimidatory here today, it feels like the police are trying to incite violence but it won't come from us."

Three were arrested after trying to breach the police line as supporters chanted "let them through" but officials said the event remained largely peaceful.

Case closed.

"Hey, Ive got an idea! Let's fly the flag upside down, that'll really show 'em!"

New Zealand requires mandatory COVID vaccinations for people working in sectors such as health, law enforcement, education and defense, with those who refuse the jab facing the sack.

Proof of vaccination must also be shown to enter restaurants, sports events and religious services.

Realising that these laws save lives and make sense kinda takes the wind out of the sails of these protestors.

One of the positive things about the vaccine passport is that it pushed vaccination rates even higher. And now, everyone are getting boosters.

So far, Omicron hasn't run riot through NZ, but when it does, it will be taking out the unvaccinated. These unmasked, unvaccinated are just endangering themselves here.

They have the right to protest, but I wish the respected their fellow NZers more. Where is the community spirit?

For a start, the vaccine passport system was developed during Delta, so totally based on science.

And while vaccination doesn't 100% prevent transmission, it does reduce it, so it's still a valid policy.

The present vaccines DO REDUCE the numbers getting infected and reduce the active viral load on those vaccinated who get infected. They SAVE LIVES and help REDUCE HOSPITALIZATIONS.

I don’t know of a council or county that don’t have hepatitis A, B and C vaccines mandate for their plumbers or workers involve in sewage works. Mandate for vaccines involving employees that are exposed to dangerous health conditions have been with us since Vietnam war then Astronauts etc. These idiots are just plan troublemakers and part time trolls.

That is false, the effect is maintained very importantly with delta, and there is no evidence that the protection disappeared with omicron.

That is false, a misrepresentation intended to deceive people, the virus level in vaccinated people that get infected (a lower proportion than in unvaccinated people) and that develop symptoms to a degree enough to look for medical attention (an even smaller proportion) can reach the same levels as unvaccinated people, that is completely different from saying vaccinated people have the same levels in general, which obviously is false.
