Just as well the government went full Covid totalitarian, forced everyone to get vaccinated and etc.

And yet NZ is one of the world's most heavily vaccinated countries! And now they want to mask up the kids again, even though masks are having a pretty poor effect on slowing the spread.

Pretty misleading headline.

NZ classifies covid deaths as anyone that dies within 28 days of testing positive.

This means if you die of a heart attack, stroke, some type of organ failure, etc, its classified as a covid death, even if they had no symptoms.

All of which are known to be caused by Covid and the Covid vaccines.

So the jabs don't work then?

It must be amazing going through life seeing everything in black and white, with a fear of science and logic.

Of course the vaccines have saved a huge amount of lives. Of course vaccines are not 100% effective as people like you bizarrely expected them to be. But they have enormously mitigated death and serious long covid.

Have a look at disasters like the USA with their massive Covid deaths per million and a far smaller vax take-up than NZ or Japan.

Did you make that up? Or is it actually real

Nah, I'm triple vaxxed, never wear a mask, and never caught it. The vaccines work great.

New Zealand has the world's highest death rate.

Hmmm… daily death rate right now… ok… cumulative death rate since it started… not by a long shot and zero chance of it getting there.

I guess that Covid Zero policy returning 2 weeks ago is really working eh?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

pandemic has been going on for 2.5 years, not 2.5 days. Come back when NZ reaches the deaths per million that the U.S. has. Then I might consider your argument valid.

Actually, I was wrong, NZ is higher, but many other countries are higher still. Everybody’s darling for doing it different, Sweden, has a rate almost three times that of NZ

And what is the population ratio of the US to little bitty NZ?

Yeah that matters. The zero Covid approach is not working in NZ or China.

Wow. I was wrong again. That doesn’t happen often. It’s almost 6 times. Just makes the point stronger though.

master

Unfortunately, 2 paragraphs that failed to address and explain the tragic and spectacular failure of New Zealand.....

To be clear, this is record numbers for New Zealand. Around 25 people per day. That's half the current death rate of the US (adjusted by capita). It isn't a spectacular failure any way you look at it.

NZ have done remarkably well, but there is a fatigue setting in and with the new more contagious and dangerous variant, people need to be more careful and wear masks in indoor settings.
