The western politicians are criticizing dictatures but their lockdowns take the population hostage.

the city would lose an estimated 200 jobs and more than NZ$30 million

And all the collateral damages

Never forget who prioritizes profits before lives.

And all the collateral damages

You would prefer, I assume, that human lives be lost as collateral damages, instead?

Not at all, but unfortunately our life is naturally not unlimited. I would like to remind that pneumonia is causing 3 millions death every year in a total anonymous way. It never makes the news.

Imposing a lockdown to 2 millions for just a few cases is insane. Taking basic prevention measures should be the norm, not forcing lockdowns. I have been anti-lockdown from the start of this virus.

I would like to know what NZ scientists do think, not the politicians who abuse their power. If people there are happy, good for them.

The stunning thing is so many of the lock-it-all-down! crowd are completely economically illiterate and did not even anticipate the financial disasters that await.

They will soon enough if they haven't already.

I 100% agree!

That is what I always said, everyone should do their best personal preventions.

The governments should sensibilize their populations to do their best personal preventions instead of forcing them in a lockdown and destroying more lives than the virus is doing.

all this because of one selfish family who decided they didn't want to obey the rules.

Wrong. All this because a government with no respect for its own people, and going against science, locked down an entire modern city over a single case.

@bob

no, you are wrong, they did not lock down a city for a single case, they locked it down over the expectation that it will evolve into multiple cases of a highly infectious variant.

@nonu6976

As the kids say these days; "LOL"

great comeback

thanks. Your reason why a 1 case lockdown is warranted deserved the gold standard.

As I already clearly explained for those who are literate - the reason for the lockdown is not because of a single case - that is blindingly obvious to anyone who knows the circumstances of this incident.

Well now, you're right. After reading the story a 3rd time, I missed this part in the 2nd paragraph;

The seven-day lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on a city of 2 million was prompted by just a single new COVID-19 case

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Because Ardern’s response has been so exemplary, I must assume they must have at least vaccinated a much higher percentage of their population than here in poorly handled Japan, am I right?

Because Ardern’s response has been so exemplary,

She has been a superstar. I mean, what other country has declared an end to Covid on 3 separate occasions!

and if you bothered to keep reading..

The case that prompted the shutdown was a person who had been infectious and out in the community for a week

but hey, don't let the facts get in the way of your narrative.

New Reset experiment.

JA is an inspiration, and just think of how many lives have been saved.

*That approach has been credited with making New Zealand one of the most successful countries in the world at controlling the spread of the coronavirus, but the latest shutdown has been criticized by some on social media.*

Keyboard warriors and wrong 'uns.

Read back what you wrote and then think about it a little bit.
