popularity of her Labour Party has slipped since then, but most of the gains have gone to the libertarian ACT Party

Interesting - authoritarian lockdowns (China side of the spectrum) losing popularity to liberty.

I’m glad that Japan’s constitution has been interpreted as to prevent politicians from imposing lockdowns. Japan’s more voluntaristic approach has shown good results this year, after the centrally planned vaccination drive picked up steam. No lockdowns thanks.

Living with lockdowns is part of living with Covid. Until the vaccination rate is high enough to provide enough herd immunity to snuff out variants, this’ll just have to be a part of life. You can choose between freedom to be vax-free or freedom of movement. That’s life in a Covid world. Life ain’t fair and you can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

You might even - gasp - have to get a Covid shot every year to keep it from coming back.

Eh? The lockdowns were extremely popular with the people of NZ.

Sorry, I keep destroying extremist narratives. So rude of me.

The lockdowns were extremely popular

Did you not notice your own use of past tense there?

Read the article. The incumbent party has lost popularity while a party of liberty has gained.

We free humans are for liberty. I doubt the New Zealanders will delight in lockdowns again, given how it didn’t even work this year with the delta variant.

Um, I spoke of lockdowns that are in the past, using the past tense. Big mystery there mate, I hope people will be able to sleep tonight.
