DeadforgoodMay 9 11:41 am JSTShould have name him George just to butt heads.

Just plain 'George' isn't good enough. King George III went down in history as being a jerk.

'George Harrison' is more like it. Then the christening celebration could be held in Crackerbox Palace and the bells of a church nearby will ring 'Ding Dong'.

Here Comes the Son, du du du du-du.

Named after Archie Gemmill due to his 1978 World Cup genius goal. Or that puppet that used to be on the radio. Or that bloke off Eastenders.

It was a big name round here in 1978. Archie Gemmill. We could do with another one.

Archie Bunker Andrew would be a great name.ABA.

The name Archie means brave. It is Germanic in origin.

Could Harry have chosen a more American sounding name?

Oh that's right, he didn't. Me-again chose it.

Something wrong with a mother choosing her baby's name?

The only Archie that comes to mind is the cartoon character, which is a bit unfortunate.

Harrison - I never thought of Harry's son, which is of course blooming' obvious. I assumed one or other or both of them to be a fan of Mr. Ford. Which makes it a stonking name to have to live up to.

He has African-American heritage though his biracial mother.

Matters not a jot. He's a baby. That's all he needs to be. And she's a happy Mum. That's all that matters, not the ins and outs of her DNA.

Hopefully Mum will get rid of her US citizenship before the US IRS comes a-knocking at the door demanding its share of her share of Harry's living allowance paid for by the UK taxpayer.

Welcome to our world, little Archie Harrison.

A bit too out of date

As the article says, it’s quite popular again these days.

I had great aunties called Mo, Dot and Flo. I want to see those names come back.

In America, famous Archies, both real and fictional, have included former NFL quarterback Archie Manning, jazz saxophonist Archie Shepp and the red-haired comic book character Archie Andrews.

Archie Bunker?

He has African-American heritage though his biracial mother.

Fire the editor, if they even have one these days.

I would have liked Maxwell, like Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

JimizoToday 10:01 am JSTMaster Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor...

They could have gone more traditional with Master George Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The song Taxman is my head rather than My Sweet Lord.

You beat me to the punchline! My Sweet Lord! Only a Northern Song could've inspired such a stuffy name like 'Archie' - yeah it's a bit ugly alright and a bit too out-of-date in my book.

StrangerlandToday 11:02 am JSTWhat an ugly name....

Useful comment bro.

Long time ago that may have been a fab name but I don't think it is now. That kid has a name that'll make him feel not so much of a man, just a Fish On the Sand.

West seaToday 08:16 am JSTHarry’s son...in short...Harrison.

Nah. George Harrison' is much cooler and fabber. Cheer Down!

Archie Moore, one of the greatest boxer of all times.

My university alma mater has the famous Heisman trophy winner Archie Griffin. He went pro football and now is a well-respected retired businessman, a hero in my home city.

Read somewhere (forgot where...again) that it was initially a toss up between DeAndre and DaMarcus but the queen said 'nah'.

so sad... why not "John" :/

Not including Archie Bunker? Too plebeian for the author I suppose.

James Hewitt-Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor would of been my choice.

I hit the jackpot! I have about 30 antique Archie comics in my parents basement.

Two more famous Archies: Archie Bunker ("Ooooh Archie!")

Archie Andrews ("Veronica and I are just friends, Betty")

Fantastic choice.

Congratulations! I remember when my son and daughter were born. They were the best times of my life. I wish them all the best.

Doffs cap, tugs forelock, empties wallet. Good name though.

I knew a man called Archie and always assumed it was shortened from Archibald until he told us it was Arcangelo. That’s a cracking name. English or Anglicized names are generally quite dull.

Congratulations to Meghan and Harry on their new baby.

One remembers that small boy when he lost his mother. How wonderful to see the joy in his face today.

Still my thoughts are to all newborns and I wish they all would have access to basic health care and food and protection from war and famine and diseases.

What happened to Sally?

I am so relieved to hear this news. It kept me awake last night wondering if they'd named him Gertrude Sue.
