So many people support the Nigerian government with such whole heartedness. I hope this will be a wake up call. And I am not saying I support Boko Haram, I am just saying its not easy to choose the lesser evil. If these soldiers had joined Boko Haram, they probably could have expected better treatment, and even gotten a teenage bride for their trouble. Instead they were not given their promised wages, not properly trained or armed, and now they get to be executed by their own people for refusing to go to their prior scheduled execution at the hands of Boko Haram.

Boko Haram is just going to keep winning. Mark my words. And again, its not that I like them, but they have spirit, goals, and they have military smarts. All the Nigerian government has to offer is "run into the battle with half a clip of ammo or I will kill you".

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. But if the Nigerian government can't supply their military with equivalent weapons to keep back BH then I can understand to an extent why they wouldn't stand and fight. But at the same time many Islamist groups have made do with much less. IEDs ring a bell? Infiltration? etc. This is what I meant in an earlier post about patriotism.

If a government can't take care of it's people properly, then the people will not be patriotic for the government.

Barbaric nation.

Troops regularly complain that they are outgunned by Boko Haram, they are not paid in full and they are abandoned on the battlefield without enough ammunition or food

Perhaps Nigeria should launch investigations of applicable government and military officials to determine why soldiers aren't being properly paid, fed and armed. I think, these summary executions will only cause other soldiers to forego mutiny and join Boko Haram or desertescape to neighboring countries.
