The government must take the position: “We don’t negotiate with extortionists,” said Michael Chertoff,

Its not extortion. The guy never did it for money or favors but now he is trying to protect him self. Officials always bend the truth.

At least not at the hand of Holder's department. If he is convicted and goes to a Leavenworth (a military prison), it will be difficult to survive.

And anyone should believe that fork-tongued AG?

I think the people who thought he would get the death penalty at all were morons. It's America. There's a difference between 'squirrely and incompetent' and 'Darth Vader.'

The government must take the position: “We don’t negotiate with extortionists,” said Michael Chertoff, the former head of the Justice Department’s criminal division and former secretary of homeland security. Chertoff said he can’t recall a case in which the U.S. government has caved under this type of threat.

Chertoff made money off the DHS airport full-body radiation scanners. -Probably not as obvious as a criminal as Eric Holder ("Fast and Furious" gun running, et al)

Cripes, this means if Snowden ever returns to the U.S., U.S. taxpayers will have to pay for his food, clothing, housing, medical care and entertainment for up to 30 years. He's already cost taxpayers a bundle.

If Putin gives him up then he will be shown to giving in to American threats. He will be shown to be weak and in Russia that is unforgivable. President Putin standing up to American thugs has given me a respect for him.

I agree with YuriOtani, let the Russian taxpayers pay for Snowden's food, clothing, housing, medical care and entertainment for awhile!

" In addition, “Mr. Snowden will not be tortured. Torture is unlawful in the United States.”

That's so reassuring, isn't it? Not!

and what is the punishment for Leon Panetta, the former head of the CIA who released classified information to Hollywood to assist in the making of Zero Thirty Dark??.... I thought so.....

"The guy never did it for money or favors but now he is trying to protect him self."

That's funny....

This is the Watergate of this century. Will it not be treated that way?

"U.S. officials have said what Snowden already has released will harm national security"

If they're not lying, then Snowden must be severely punished. How about making him stay in the transit section of that Russan airport and forced to listen to Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits an hour a day for a few years?

haha yeah right, the US government will probably kill him then use his corpse like Weekend at Bernie's and drag him all of the US to cover up their lies, moving his arms and legs and pushing his head up and down. IT COULD HAPPEN. I AM AFRAID.
