V.M.

Israel is a state that was built on terror. Sadly, even after 70 years after its creation they're still following the same tactics: make the lives of Palestinians so hard, and if they still don't leave, terrorize them.

Leave from where? Israel removed the Jewish population from Gaza, hoping for peace, and instead they got Hamas. And I suppose you know what the Hamas charter says.

Nice to see the US using its veto powers to protect its partner in crime in the ME... When will the world say enough to the Israeli atrocities???

Hamas have been label a terrorost organization for many years now by many western countries. Just look how much rockets they manage to stockpile in these few years after the last conflict. Should the west investigate already where they keep getting these rockets from when the entire region was suppose to be blockade by Isreal? If you even look at the map, you should know Gaza was suppose to be surrounded by Isreal territories but somehow the Hamas government is still getting weapons and cash with no problem. Egypt is clearly funding all of this while playing innocent.

And I suppose you know what the Hamas charter says.

Of course they know what it says - they agree with it. They just won’t say it out loud. They know that Hamas doesn’t want a two state solution nor would they tolerate a Palestinian government that supports it. For Hamas and Iranians its either the elimination of Jews from the Middle East or constant unrelenting resistance. The only acceptable actions from the Israelis is the endurance of terrorist bombings and rocket attacks until such time as they decide to give up. The Left is angry that the Israelis fight back and defend their right to live in the region. To them - that is unacceptable.

Leave from the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where Hamas does not exist. I suppose you know Ben-Gurion's quote about the subject:

"The present map of Palestine was drawn by the British mandate. The Jewish people have another map which our youth and adults should strive to fulfill: from the Nile to the Euphrates".

exactly.

The Left is angry that the Israelis fight back and defend their right to live in the region.

Or it may be that "The Left" is simply angry at the wanton destruction of human life and the worsening plight of the Gaza Ghetto, the continuing immiseration of the Arab population, and also because 70+ years of Israeli occupation and control have not resulted in a just settlement between these two peoples who MUST learn to share this land and live together in harmony and peace.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Or it may be, when it comes to Israel, "The Left" is no different from "the right". Biden just approved $755. million in weapons sales to Israel, and our corporate MSM are never critical of any President, well maybe, George Bush Sr. when he told the Israeli's to STOP building settlements on Palestinian land. Yeah, I think that was the last time.

History is proving Israel clearly is a rogue nation led by a corrupt and dangerous individual.

This article says that the recent violence was triggered by an attempt to evict Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem. This is usually the trigger.

Supporters of Israel's actions; How would you like it if a foreign power forcefully evicted you and your family from your home and country 'Because our ancestors lived here 2000 years ago'?

Correction

$735 million

Congress was officially notified of the proposed sale on May 5

Israel starts their war machine one week later

Things that make you go hmmmmmm....

Where are these so called Anti-fascists? Protesting a Confederate statue I'd imagine.

Sanctioned and supported colonialism, yes in 2021

"we are starting to feel we are not just their slaves," Ouch!

I've mentally checked out of this situation since both sides only seem to want to kill each other, but I will chime in to say that at the very least Biden should make an announcement to stop the violence.

I am constantly impressed with the professionalism and restraint of the Israeli military. Given the provocation and emotional toll they must be under, they STILL manage to minimize civilian casualties in Gaza. Imagine if, as some dim bulbs say, they actually wanted to commit war crimes and genocide. Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas on earth- it would be easy to increase the casualties a hundredfold. Yet they don't. They actually give warnings to people to evacuate facilities used by Hamas terrorists.

The journalism, if you can call it that, practiced in the area is criminally incompetent and corrupt. The ideological stances of the journos infect their reporting, along with their chumminess with Hamas and their media watchdogs.

How many schools could 15,000 rockets buy, Hamas? How many wells could be dug if you dig tunnels vertically instead of into Israel?

Israel has a much stronger claim to East Jerusalem than any Palestinian Arabs. After the establishment of modern day Israel the area was annexed by not any Palestinian Arab organization, but by Jordan. Does anyone here admonish Jordan for forcefully taking that land? Palestinian Arabs suddenly decided about 33 years ago that they wanted to claim Jerusalem as their capital. Kind of like calling shotgun for the front seat. Unfortunately for them, Israel had control of that region after fighting off five Arab countries. One of those countries was Jordan, which later kicked out the PLO. The peaceful Palestinian Arabs had shown appreciation to its Arab benefactor by attacking it, and Jordan showed great force in defending itself and was criticized for its harsh response in defending itself.

I am eager to hear arguments why a country does not have the right to defend itself against terrorism, or from other invading militia ( there is no country called Palestine or any variation of it).

Hamas is not a IS radical Islamist organization.

It is a reaction by 2,000,000 Palestinians locked up in the history of the worlds biggest concentration camp.

Palestine does have that right.

Reporting 12 dead in one side, 217 (including 63 children) + 1,400 wounded + two million desperate for reprieve in the other side... speaks volume.

Just did that. Wow, I knew the figure would be high, but not that high! That is shocking over-representation of a certain people. Any Americans care to comment?

No matter how you slice it, Hamas IS a terrorist organization.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

If you fire 3500 rockets into Israel and dig tunnels for terrorists to infiltrate it, what kind of response do you expect from Israel in return?

While Hamas itself is not IS related, its militant group called 'Islamic Jihad Palestine' is a terrorist organization, same with the paramilitary group of Hezbollah operating in Lebanon called 'Jihad Council'.

The total extinction of Israel is their primary goal - this is totally unacceptable for Israel (but also for USA and various other Western countries too) of course. Israel wants such militant groups to be 'neutralized' and therefore no peace agreement is possible. Fightings will just continue.

If the Palestinians stop shooting, they'll be no more war.

If the Israelis stop shooting, they'll be no more Israel.

Hamas is not a IS radical Islamist organization.

The militant group affiliated to Hamas calls itself 'Islamic Jihad Palestine' - the total destruction of Israel, to extinct it is their primary goal. If this is not a radical Islamist organization, what else can it be?

China (and Russia too sometimes) is also using its veto powers to protect its partners - for example North Korea, Myanmar, Syria ... what about that?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

When Russia or China or both veto a UNSC resolution that the US wants, does JT call it a DEADLOCK or do they name and 'shame' the country involved as keeping the world from acting?

Just so you know, you can see a lot of black and white pictures and footage that bears a striking resemblance to the second and sixth pictures of the roll at the bottom of the article on the walls and displays of the Apartheid Museum in Soweto.

If the Palestinians stop shooting, they'll be no more war.

If the Israelis stop shooting, they'll be no more Israel. - Brian Pangburn

Those are the justifications of a compulsive domestic abuser. If you simply stop resisting then the trouble will stop for you.

If the Palestinians stop shooting the status quo continues with American support.

If Palestinians stop shooting Israel continues its illegal occupation, Israel continues illegally annexing land from the Palestinian people, Israel continues its ethnic cleansing of the region in the name of a Jewish state.

Resistance is futile without worthwhile intervention and the repercussions disproportionate but the alternative is doom.

In the words of a famous Palestinian poet.

Therefore!

Write down on the top of the first page:

I do not hate people

Nor do I encroach

But if I become hungry

The usurper’s flesh will be my food

Beware..

Beware..

Of my hunger

And my anger!
