Because these "men" wouldn't be able to control their urges unless women are covered head to toe and chaperoned by a relative? And they feel threatened by teenage girls going to school? What a pathetic belief system.

"pledging a softer rule"
Translates as "We'll take our time going back to the way things were instead of bringing the hammer down all at once."
This should not surprise anyone. We know what they stand for.

this is the same sexist BS that our so-called 'allies' of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia do. But no no no no no!
Big Bad Saddam Hussein was 'worse than Hitler' and we had to get rid of him 'before he gets us' neeeeee-OWWWWWWW!!!!!
Saddam Hussein was a rotten bastard for sure but in his regime the females were treated much better than this. Iraq did respect women. Yet nobody really cared during the last 2 decades or so.
Fanatical Muslim zealots. As terrible as Saddam and Qaddafy were, they didn't put up with these types of yoyos because they challenged their authority. Now the entire Arabian Peninsula, Persian Gulf region and Afghanistan are engulfed by this craziness. And with all the doo-doo these TaliTurds are enacting, where is the Islam in this?

Can't argue with that, the Saudis have been able to get away with their medieval mindedness because of their oil money!
The future is bleak for Afghanistan, it is run by savages now and they will make turn it into a jungle!!!

It is literal Sharia law, which the Taliban follow. There is no surprise there, it is what they have always done in Taliban controlled areas.
And both Saddam and Gadaffi were secular rulers, not islamist zealots, which is why it was such a grave mistake of bombing them out existance on behalf of religionist extremists.

the ministry asked Afghanistan's television channels to stop showing dramas and soap operas featuring women actors.
(Then perhaps there is a market for kabuki dramas in Afghanistan, with all the men playing female roles.)
In several provinces, local Taliban authorities have been persuaded to reopen schools -- but many girls still remain cut off from secondary education.
What do they need secondary education for? By that age, the Taliban expects them to be married off and having babies already.

And these caveman had the audacity to ask for international aid and recognition.

No aid until women are free to control their own lives.
