Seems like the sanctions are beginning to work.

Good the sanctions are working. A couple of decades ago we traced aid material sent to North Korea meant for the civilians to the North Korean military, in accordance with the Song Gun (Military First) national policy. So when they say that the people would rather eat grass than give up their nuclear and missile program, they aren't kidding.

Double down. And sanction countries that are doing business with NK as well.

Well.. to talk about stopping brutal sanctions, behave, no more missiles, no more tests. Not that difficult.

North Korea called on Friday for a halt to what it called "brutal sanctions", saying the measures - imposed after its latest nuclear test - constituted genocide.

No, L'il Kim. Genocide is what you, your father and grandfather have practiced against your own people.

Since when a country target of sanctions have a saying on how heavy the sanctions should should be...?

If that correspond to genocide, probably the government had better think about its people and what it is doing and comply to what it has been directed to do from others...

It was only two weeks ago NK was threatening Japan and the US with genocide. Yes, the sanctions are brutal and sadly, they do not effect little Kim and his 'elite few' directly. They directly affect the already impoverished people of NK.

Sanctions are working so it’s actually time to increase sanctions as we now know it is having at least some effect and could be the decisive pressure point.

NK will never give up their nukes, sanctions only hurt the average person. Doubt that Kim skipped a meal that the average citizen only heard of.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

What, so they are now actually asking why the world community has placed sanctions on them?

When NK leader is known as "Som slim guy" then the world will know sanctions are working. Sanctions are not working because the cheaters are only interested in profits. Profits is the definition of capitalism. If only "Not so slim" would look at his model parent, China, he could learn a few lessons in world marketing. President Trump is not going to annihilate NK. There are too many opportunities for capitalism to save the poor, starving NK people. Patience is what it takes.

Those seven individuals have had a significant impact t on the DRPK empire, they will feel pain as will the leaders who are enriching themselves at the expense of their population. The people need to revolt and stop this inhuman evil empire!

Population don't see revolt as an option given how much of the population is still incarcerated.

Pretty impressive that certain posters on JT are not only privy to exactly how sanctions are affecting the NK leadership, but that they are actually feeling sorry for the poor little men.

Curious mind needs to know. How is NK leadership affected?

I think it should be inferred that people are feeling sorry for ordinary North Koreans, not their leaders. I'm a bit surprised that it could be taken to mean anything else. I thought the phrase "not not effect little Kim and his "elite few" made it pretty obvious. Did you just not read the comment properly or were you deliberately misinterpreting it?

"elite few"

what, like EU?

I think everyone feels sorry for the innocent people of NK, but Rocket man, entirely different story.

Simon Boston - how are you privy to the information the elites have not been affected?

No, L'il Kim. Genocide is what you, your father and grandfather have practiced against your own people.

Rebuffs Kim for incorrect usage of word genocide. Goes on to provide reference to something that isn't actually a genocide.

And once again; it's the innocent people who suffer from the whims of madmen and cruel tyrants.

Trump should be flying into Pyongyang to hold direct talks with Kim. I know; wishful thinking.

collective punishment to 18 million citizens is not very Christian like. Can only think of one other country that bestows such misery on ordinary people.

So it looks like the sanctions are working. Notice also that rocketman has not fired any missiles lately. Maybe the Chinese are finally putting a lid on him too?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Sanctions are working. Sanctions will be increased.

Crazy Kim and only crazy Kim is responsible for "genocide" of his own people. Not to mention the hundreds dying from cave-ins and radiation.
