North Korea criticized the Group of Seven countries as a "remnant of the Cold War"

Along with Kimmy's hairstyle.

That makes us even in my book.

Says the only remaining country which is genuinely a remnant of the Cold War.

G7, which has caused and fomented the recent international crisis, says this or that to find fault with independent sovereign states," Jo said, according to KCNA.

In other words,

G7 is just the biggest stone in our shoes and the main stumbling block that prevents us from establishing our supremacist red ideology worldwide.

They hate us cuz they aint us?

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. What a moronic statement...but then again...we are talking North Korea.

Ah the communist dictatorship that only exists as a result of Cold War politics is complaining about remnants of the Cold War, is it?

"The G8 evolved from the G7 and the G6, which were formed in 1976 and 1975, respectively. When Russia officially joined in 1997, the organization changed its name to the G8. The G8, however, was short-lived because Russia's membership was removed following its invasion, occupation, and annexation of Crimea in 2014."

The G7 may have been established towards the end of the cold war but it has been primarily for finance and trade, not geared toward military goals. It still isn't. But with the state of the world being as it is conflict and the prospect of further conflict means these issues are now included in discussions and planing.

Being on the outside the North Koreans are simply making assumptions based on their ignorance. If they had good relations with any of the G7 they could gain credible information rather than making guesses. The only ones who really know what goes on are the members. What they disseminate to the public via the media is what they want people to know. What they dont want outsiders to know they keep to themselves.

The group can not represent the international community but protects a few countries' interests

Fair point and accurate reflection of the top-down throwback unipolarity this neo-colonialist cartel seeks to preserve under the guise of the "free world".

Many countries agree with this sentiment as the world moves to multipolarity.

Maybe, North Korea knows no one in the West seriously take what they say. Thus, this banal criticism. If they want to say something stinging at this point in time, they should be more "trendy" to point out G7's impotence in securing sufficient humanitarian assistance to people in Gaza, to praise Russia for its successful military operations despite the West's support to Ukraine, and to remind G7 of BRICS' gaining more power in the international elations. I imagine North Korea's leader is too busy with scheming for his survival.

I wonder if this attitude would be the same if Russia was still a member? It was only removed for its invasion and annexation of Crimea in 2014. The fact that the group included Russia for 17 years in the first place basically blows your comment out of the water. They would still be in there if they had not turned hostile and become invaders bent on territorial expansion.

You almost answered your own question. Russia was only welcome when it toed the line (what they cynically call a "rules-based order"). I remember the early 2000s when western leaders adored Putin (even though he was the same then); they thought he was pliable and would bend over to their diktat even when it meant compromising sovereignty - that he didn't is his real crime in their eyes. And it was mainly an economic organisation then; having morphed into a ruthless warmongering bloc - a globalist NATO to give US imperialism a better name. In other words, RF was welcomed into the NWO when it was thought it could be used.

He told them no at the 2008 Munich summit of NATO. They wouldn't listen. No decent country would allow a bunch of neo-nazi nationalists on their front doorstep, least of all Moscow.

They're right.., G7 is a pathetic decadent circus..

That dum-dum is still stuck at least 30 years back. The Berlin Wall got opened up 34 years ago last week. I remember that time very fondly.

Kim is just shooting off his motormouth again. Even though China's CCP is also a Cold War remnant, they're keeping a distance from this chump. And that's exactly what Kim is, a lippy chump. And he needs to shutitup, NOW.

Yes something trendy and nonsensical is sure to get a positive reaction.

If by that you mean not invading your neighbors and stealing their land, yes, Russia was expected to uphold civility.

I remember Putin was a really good singer:

It's a shame he was always a bloodthirsty maniac just biding his time. Like any psychopath, he couldn't express himself without violence.

And it was mainly an economic organisation then; having morphed into a ruthless warmongering bloc - a globalist NATO to give US imperialism a better name.

With Russian imperialism on the move, the G7 will talk about whatever suits them. Doesn't have to be restricted to economics because the G7 are true allies.

In other words, RF was welcomed into the NWO when it was thought it could be used.

I don't think anybody thought 11 time zone Russia could be used.

He told them no at the 2008 Munich summit of NATO.

Yeah right. He sobbed, said something nonsensical, and went back to crying in his room inexplicably.

They wouldn't listen. No decent country would allow a bunch of neo-nazi nationalists on their front doorstep, least of all Moscow.

That's too bad, because Ukraine isn't going anywhere. Russia will have to deal with their own nazis first.

I swear that NK release these ridiculous statements knowing full well that it'll get them the attention that they crave.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Russia was only welcome when it toed the line (what they cynically call a "rules-based order").

Russia was welcomed when they no longer posed a threat to peace in Europe, and Europe genuinely wanted to help Russia during its transition to a peaceful democracy. It was even granted special partner status with NATO. It was not everyone else moving away from Russia that altered things, it was Putin who wanted to restore power to Russia that changed things. Invading a neighbor and annexing its territory was what got it kicked out.

So a peaceful Russia was welcomed and a hostile Russia was not. Otherwise it would still be a G8 and NK would not have been able to make its current comment. Nor would you have been able to make yours @JJE.

But, since they were removed you are free to make nonsense comments about the G7, that you would not be able to make about the G8.

Seems some are happy for hostile invasions and expanding territory by theft. Nice to know that if the West ever follows suit you will have nothing but support for their actions as you do for Russia's. As long as they to claim everlasting ownership and dont just return control as they have done in the past, right?
