The numbers are greater than 100,000!
With countries like Japan not doing anything to test people, the worse is yet to come Japan. The other countries like China and the US are just lying that there is a problem.
Have notice all the countries being hit the hardest have similar leadership at the moment. Italy, China, North Korea, Japan, Iran, and US......except Russia. And those leaders are all serial liars. Hmmmm!

Selective amnesia, the best kind of amnesia !!!!

Xi, Donny and Putin sure are....

ROFL, all of the above happened in this world.

When is a Pandemic not a Pandemic ?
When the WHO answers to China.

@tom
Closer to 7000 but I hear you on that.
Tom
No worries. Japan has tested about 5000 people. They are really up on things. I love Abe and his excellent team.
WilliB
Mortality rate for both seems to be at about 2%, which is the same.

Here they say South Korea on Saturday reported 483 new cases:

I don't see this virus slowing. It's spreading everywhere. Here in Italy we are considering to keep the schools closed for one or two months. They say they the peak of the virus could be at the first days of April. I feel like I'm living in a movie. Seriously, I would like know how this virus was really developed. Was it supposed to be a biological weapon? I am starting to think something is really off.
WilliB
ulyses:
Err,,, what? Where did Xi disappear, Donny lie, and Putin run scared? Are we living in an alternatiive unverse? I agree on Abe though.
WilliB
Obviously many more, as many people are infected without symptoms. Afaik, this thing is out in the open now and will run its course, very much like the Spanish Flue in 1918. Of course vaccines will be developed, but by that time the virus will have run its course and disappaeared by itself, again like the Spanish Flue.

This is a very important point to keep in mind.
Perhaps some grablers are intentionally causing this panic to then buy up the cheap stocks...
JCosplay
By the way, that part at least really is good news. The fact that it’s on a retreat in China which was the epicenter of all this, as well as South Korea as well, at least we have a couple silver linings in these dark clouds of infections stories.
JCosplay
wait, are the half that recovered part of the 100,000 total infected? Or are the half that recovered separate from the 100,000 cases?
Jimizo
I’ve been reading around on this and there seems to be varying degrees of belief among experts in the idea that the heat will knock it out.
Let’s hope it does.

Great...14 months for the test alone.

Crisis brings out the true face of leaderships.
Xi disappeared
Donny lied
Abe seemed overwhelmed
Putin running scared
Akie
drlucifer, excellent know. Large scale tests are needed urgently, and identify the source of virus is very important.
drlucifer
210 new cases, what does it tell us, what we already know that ramping up test results results in a spike of found cases.
Akie
Omachi, you are correct. We still don't know how many dead people were due to the virus, because test was never done to them. There is a prediction that if this is not controlled urgently and correctly, there could be million death worldwide. In that sense, Japan, Koreas, and China all do excellent jobs to save the world.
CrazyJoe
Coronavirus vaccine testing underway now

Omachi
Thanks - I just did that calc before reading the comments. Now if we look at a worst case scenario, where everybody gets infected and becomes a known infection, there will be over 4 million deaths in Japan alone. Of course this won’t happen because everybody will be careful - diligently wash hands, use sanitizers, avoid contacts, self quarantine, etc. ... and in a year or two, we will have a vaccine.

Putin is scared witless, ROFL.
PTownsend
I don't have a clue. I'm a private individual with zero ties to any government. You'll have to ask one of Putin's Internet Research Agency employees, perhaps someone from one of the other Russian cyberwafare organizations, maybe someone form one of the consulates or embassies here in Japan.
ulysses
China says only 143 new cases, if that is true, there is hope.
But like everything that comes out of China, it probably is fake.
PTownsend
I don't understand what you are referring to. But getting people to fly more means more fuel used. The more fuel used, the more revenue for Putin and his oil/gas corporations.
PTownsend
Good advice. Remain vigilant, follow basic health procedures. But don't panic. That Russian propagandists are pooh-poohing this must be because people are driving less and flying less, resulting in oil prices going down. At least Russia's partner Iran is being realistic, which they have to be given the problems they're facing.

Wrong: "We're all in this together. We all have a role to play," said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, chief of the World Health Organization, urging more global cooperation from the business world and solidarity with the poorest.
The main player and cause which for whatever hidden reasons continues to refuse the blame against the 1 country who started all of this and now causing other nations to utilize emergency funding they simply do not have or at the cost of other internal vital key social funded programs. The 1 nation should solely burden the cost by taking responsibility and pay the world damages it has cost. The other issue is via globalism pushed on the public world wide and placed their eggs in one basket. Well this is the fallout. Greed by dirty politicians who for years have been getting fat vs their economies at home are to blame as well and all at the cost once around world, hard working, tax paying and cash starved people yet again.
Akie
Burning Bush, give me a number and I will do a better math. As I said, you have to test all people to know exactly how many people are infected. Right now, no one knows that number, and your math makes no sense.

Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself
Akie
It is more than 100,000, to be honest. There are a lot of people out there who are not tested.
