I suspect they also hate looking stupid, given the adoring way they've been talking about him compared to the way his presidency has turned out so far.

It won't be long I'm sure. Several of the alphabet agencies are continuing their investigations into team Trump's traitorous links to the Kremlin - we will be seeing more leaks about Trump gushing over the front pages for the foreseeable future.

The NYT doubled its subscriptions in 2016. Many thinking people respect and trust the NYT's long history of ethical investigative journalism that holds political leaders to account. In the era of Trump, such people are reminded of that.
