When I visited London, I feel like I was in South Asian continent instead of Europe. They have no assimilation with locals. If they are not assimilated and show their faces, they are not law abiding citizens.

Well, funnily enough I live in London, and have done for several years, and I have precisely never felt like I was in a South Asian country. I mean, did you spend your entire visit on Brick Lane or Whitechapel?

I view BRITONS of South Asian descent as my fellow countrymen, and to be honest most look, dress and act no differently to anyone else. Pretty much no one in the UK wears the birqa; a very small minority wear the niqab or the abaya; and a slightly larger minority of Muslim females wear the hijab, or headscarf. If any of these terms mystify you, google them.

I really do get the impression that you're just terrified by difference. Which is really quite sad and pathetic.

New Zealand First is a joke and hardly anyone takes them seriously. It's only New Zealand's rather odd representational electoral system that allows them to have any voice at all.

If even a bone-head like Winston Peters is rejecting this idiot's comments, you can guarantee that the vast majority of Kiwis will be doing so as well.

For a brief period after 9/11, China banned all holders of passports from Middle Eastern nations from its international and domestic carriers. The country obviously cares more about the safety of its airline passengers (and buildings) than it does about the convenience of people whose countries are involved in various religious and territorial squabbles. It's one time when I found myself nodding in agreement.

Firstly, link or it didn't happen.

Secondly, you nod in agreement because you're a racist twit just like the clown in this article. Idiots like to nod together. Rather like a bunch of angry-looking bobbleheads.

@zichi

How would Muslims be identified?

Easily. They all wear turbans, as I'm sure Mr Prosser would be keen to explain to you....

Maybe offering free buckets of coca-cola would be more effective at wiping them out.

Hey, some of them might like Pepsi more!

But seriously, there's two very distinct sides of the coin here. On one side, the law abiding and who have a "westernized mentality", and the hard-cores who would like to impose their religion anywhere and everywhere they go on the other.

young male, aged between say about 19 and about 35, and you’re a Muslim, or you look like a Muslim, or you come from a Muslim country

But this is certainly a very racist generalization. I have friends who look like Muslims, but in fact are Christians, or any other religion. And there are many from the Muslim countries who don't embrace Islam at all.

Wow... two silly stories out of NZ in a few days..

NZ has a large amount of immigration and sometimes more conservative people have these xenophobic reactions to it sadly.

While I don't agree with his sentiment as far as profiling and singling out people for their beliefs or they way they look I would say any religion shouldn't have any special privilege.

NZ is a secular country and long may it stay so.

Incidentally Air NZ is a fairly big airline for a relatively small population, NZ is isolated without it so air travel is pretty important.

whoa.. am i reading this right??!

"The Waimakariri list MP said he accepts that most Muslims are not terrorists, but it's "equally undeniable'' that "most terrorists are Muslims''

I accept that most men are not rapists and paedophiles but it's "equally undeniable" that " most rapists and peadophiles are men" therefore we should ban them from being near woman or children

That's how ridiculous and nasty Richard Prossers argument is. How scary to think there are people like him who walk amongst us everyday."

Its really bizarre though. How can you ban a person that's muslim? I mean you'd have to be able to read minds to tell if a person really adheres to a certain religious belief or not. Although some Islamic countries do require their citizens to have their religion emblazioned on their identification cards or register with the government their religious affiliation... maybe its easier than expected.

Its as difficult as telling the difference between a Islamist and a Islamic fundamentalist.

I will not stand by while my daughters’ rights and freedoms, and those of other New Zealanders and Westerners, are denigrated

How dare he call himself a Westerner? New Zealand's as far east as you can get on this planet. Jumped up little Antiopodean.

Good call...

Maybe offering free buckets of coca-cola would be more effective at wiping them out....

@Fugacis please remember, Islam is a religion and muslims are of different races and ethnicities. Just make sure you clarify that. Disliking a cult is very different than disliking a person because of their skin color.

yep that's says a lot. Not the most educated man in NZ politics. NZ politics sure has had some characters. His comments are up there with the woman's body rejecting pregnancy in rape comments from the US politician.

All readers back on topic please. Posts that do not refer to the story will be removed.

He added: “I will not stand by while my daughters’ rights and freedoms, and those of other New Zealanders and Westerners, are denigrated by a sorry pack of misogynist troglodytes from ‘Wogistan.’”

Strong stuff - although his views about Islamic practices in some areas can be difficult to refute.

Yes, we are all afraid of terrorists, but not all terrorists are from the same religion, same country but then again on 9/11??

When they wear that dress in private, it is not our problem. When they wear burqa for working, walking, driving and riding the bike is the unfriendly act. In somecase, they have to speak louder because of burqa. What I meant is cover the face except eyes.

Whether you agree with me or not is your opinion. That dress is not suitable for normal daily outing. It has higher risk for getting accident.

NZ Muslim have no rights to remove Richard Prosser even they are offended. If he will be resigned according their demand, NZ is no longer democratic nation with common law.It has become medieval society as immigrants homeland which is oppressive. It has lost the individual freedom of expression. I guess there is not only NZ folk with a wooly brain and medieval age ideology.

There are many middle Eastern airlines which is cheaper and higher quality service which can cater the NZ and Aust Muslim customers. In fact Muslim customer prefer the flight attendants with Burqa as Athletes posted. They prefer Middle East airlines due to dietary concern.

Although not in commercial airline, some flight training schools of Middle East allowed women pilots to wear Burqa. Therefore Athletes is correct in saying it has higher risks for passengers. It is an realistic post for concerning about safety. Political correctness is not big deal for Airline business. Thanks for his grave concern for safety of plane, car and bike travel.

The problem of Some women wear their traditional Burqa even they drive the cars. Whatever they do in their homeland is not my concern. When they are Rome, they have to be Roman. If they are pilots, imagine how will they risk their live or others.
