I get that social isolation is possible in school, but what about the smell of decomposing corpse in a dormitory? No one noticed?
Maria
Such a sad story. That poor young man - so isolated, with nobody looking for him.
Ah_so
Someone noticed:

Did the university not care that he hadn't turned up for lectures, tutorials? They have a duty of care towards their students. As for the other students not noticing or caring, that does not surprise me. Everyone appears to be in their own little world, online is more normal than 'real life'.

Unbelievable. I mean, I know some people who weren't the most social in university, but if there no sign of the person in the DORM for two months, and no sound of doors closing, no attendance in class, you would think SOMEONE would have checked before decomposition was so bad they couldn't stand the smell anymore. I bet you a million dollars suddenly his Neighbors care, and will talk to the news about how, "They wondered about him and worried... but... ummm..."

I had thought that he had been buried and corpse dug up and put back in the room. How does the school, his classmates, and his family miss this? Just 1 week would be suspicious where I'm at, let alone 2 months.

It's quite common for students to disappear for several weeks for various reasons (stress, boredom...).

Exactly.
pug boy!
but his family... two months... I hope police are thorough in looking at how he died...

No they don't, or at least not as applies to whether they go to class or not. Students are adults and if one decides to stop going to class, and students drop out all the time, it is not the schools responsibility to investigate.
Students have different schedules, not seeing a particular student for months is not unusual especially if the student isn't social.
It is a dorm with doors all over opening and closing all day (and night) long.
Students drop out and stop going to class all the time.
Students drop out every day. And with the often large class sizes it isn't strange that other students missed him. But I agree that his family not getting worried after two months without any contact is odd.

@Yubaru
It takes a week to truly smell a decomposing body in an open space under regular environmental conditions. It should be even shorter for a place with little privacy like a dorm with average ventilation.
They didn't notice the smell of a dead body for two months! You read the article!

@Yubaru
Nearly two months of decomposition in a student dorm! Was the body wrapped in plastic? Was the room filled with deodorizer and all the windows open? Was the room sealed airtight?
