President Obama called his opponents liars during the Congressional speech as well - where is his apology? Oh yeah, Democrats don't admit when they are wrong... Let no man stand in the way of Obama's march towards his socialist utopia!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Back on Wilson’s home turf, the uproar turned into a boon for Democrat Rob Miller, his opponent in next year’s midterm elections."

And there you have it, folks; the usual suspects putting their feet in their mouths and losing everything for it.

Wolfpack: "President Obama called his opponents liars during the Congressional speech as well - where is his apology?"

Do I have to point out the obvious to you, Wolfpack, in that while the president -- the highest status in the country -- was giving a speech this man spewed his comment out of order? Both Dems AND Republicans condemned it, so why are you so busy trying to deflect it? You're 'argument' is rather sad. Well, you get even sadder still:

"Let no man stand in the way of Obama's march towards his socialist utopia!"

Ah, sweet paranoia! You fit right into the liars category Obama was correct in commenting on. Next you'll be talking about "death panels".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wolfpack, President Obama referred to the "death panels" as lies. Please don't tell me that you believe such a thing to be true.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"he took a beating on Twitter as Republicans and Democrats alike condemned his behavior."

On TWITTER? No hope for this guy then.

In all seriousness. I'm glad people from both sides are condemning his behavior.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I watched the event on CNN, what a sad, sorry pack of losers all the sour faced grimmacing Republicans were. You couldn't have paid people to look more scornful and catawampus.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

One week,a repub talking bout hunting Obama, the next, calling him names. You know they are desperately looking for some face time popping off at the lip. A lot of people still cant shake off a prez of color, including many JT posters. It is what it is.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This guy should have gone to argentina yesterday like his republican gov. did. What a foolish, childish, immature outburst. And so typical of the republican hater crowd since they keep on losing elections lately. Angry, arrogant and constantly wrong on fact they are. And liars in many cases as with the immigration issue, the kill grandma issue, the WMD in Iraq issue, the war will be simple issue and on and on.

Wingers often, as can be seen in these posts, accuse others of doing exactly what they are doing themselves. In this case it is lying. Obama told the truth, Wilson is lying and calls Obama a liar. Same paranoid projection by the damaged republicans over and over again.

The republicans are the party that can only say no, oh and lie too.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I hope the GOP are going to stop being a rabble and form an opposition one of these days. They just can't get anything right. Come on guys, democracy implies at least 2 parties. Get your act together!

zurc. Again, if you look at some of the things that is done in the VA, you too would raise an eye brow. Also, if you are in the US and go to a big city, you'll see why a lot of Americans are frustrated with illegals taking up the ERs. Try going to Queens and watch after a few illegal Russians fill it up, someone comes up with the idea of taking them in first to get them out of there and not even bother giving them a bill! The Rule should be written into the bill, but the Dems don't want that because they believe they have the soon to be illegal voters on their side. Now if it were the other way around, you would see Repubs refusing to put those words into the bill. Bottom line, as long as no mention of proof of citizenship or residency exists, them being able to take advantage of it is there. Why should a tax payer be happy about that?

As for this guys rant, he was stupid to say it sure, but he twice as stupid to apologize for it. I for one don't like the rule that yyou can't speak out against a prez's speech regardless of you party.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong: "...but he twice as stupid to apologize for it."

Not at all; he saved his job by doing it, in all likelihood, and saved a wee little bit of dignity as well (drop in the bucket he emptied himself, but still). Had he not apologized, he would definitely have been censured.

"I for one don't like the rule that yyou can't speak out against a prez's speech regardless of you party."

It would be PURE anarchy (in the sense of chaos) if such a rule were reversed. In debate and/or news conferences there's room for questions and rebuttles, etc. In a presidential speech, there is not, and amendments to such a rule would allow ANYONE who wanted to speak out to do so, and speeches would simply never get finished because people with political agendas would do their best to ensure it.

Anyway, this guy actually HELPED the bill, as he has helped the Democrats in general. Sure, he got some face time in the media, but it doesn't sound like the kind of face time he may have wanted/expected, and it may end up yet he has to face more consequences for his actions (ie. adios, amigo!). If the man's going to call Obama a liar, he better damn well have proof before popping off like that; and yet anyone who claims to back the man says that the Dems are being 'vague' or not clear enough on the bill -- so how could he possibly have any proof to back up his accusations??

skipthesong

Also, if you are in the US and go to a big city, you'll see why a lot of Americans are frustrated with illegals taking up the ERs.

Using your illistration here:

What our destinguished Rep from South Carolina refuses to see is that no matter what Obama does, local and state laws have made it mandatory to treat, at least a first line of treatment, of illegals. Obama's health care won't pay for this. < :-)

As for this guys rant, he was stupid to say it sure, but he twice as stupid to apologize for it. I for one don't like the rule that yyou can't speak out against a prez's speech regardless of you party.

Skip, theres nothing wrong with speaking out against the Presidents Speech. You can, and are entitled to do so. However he is entitled to civility, and has a right not to be heckled by members of Congress while giving it. In other words, feel free to call him a liar, just wait til he's finished speaking to do it.

Regarding all the donations this guys opponent got, I have to wonder, how many of those donations are from members of his own district. I rather suspect that most of them came from people outside that district. Nothing wrong with this. People were offended by what Wilson did, and they have a right to support candidates who they agree with.

Wingers often, as can be seen in these posts, accuse others of doing exactly what they are doing themselves. In this case it is lying. Obama told the truth, Wilson is lying and calls Obama a liar. Same paranoid projection by the damaged republicans over and over again.

I have to laugh whenever I read your posts Zurc. I mean really, Obama called Republicans liars, Wilson stood up and accused him of being the liar. As it happens, merely reading the bills currently up for debate in congress shows who is truly lying. I'll give you a clue here, its not the folks with the R in front of their name. Oh, I'll admit that some of the rhetoric is overblown. The idea of Death Panels for example. The wording is in there for a group of doctors to advise patients and to essentially require end of life counseling, however theres a rather large leap from that to "death panels" However, the fact that this stuff is even up for consideration is troubling.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm in good health and have no family to discuss thigs with, and I have the chance to go to a group of people and plan what I need to do. Do I have a living will? Do I have a will? Who would I contact in case of an emergency? Am I an organ donor?

So if I have family and I sit down with them and decide how I want to allow my end to happen, 6 months with Kemo or 1 month with out, for example. It's alright?

But I have no family and I need to talk to some one to help me through these decisions, it's horrible because there is a place to ask questions.

That's two examples of your death panels. < :-)

what was there to apologize for? incidents like this are not unheard of. recall the opposition's hoots of derision and hissing during president bush's 05 state of the union address and the confrontation former secretary of state rice had in a hearing before the house foreign affairs committee when an anti-war 'activist', waving hands covered in fake blood, approached rice and called her a 'war criminal'.

Never has America and its people been presented with a starker choice. On one hand, you have President Barack Obama, who is trying to ensure that there is no child left behind, and that all people have access to minimal levels of medical care. On the other hand, you have some troglodytes who are so ethnically compromised that they need to go under the microscope. Please America, I would ask that you get on the bandwagon and support Obama.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

lol, if you're not American, why does this even concern you? Why should the US jump on the socialism bandwagon. If people are so desperate for that kind of medical care, feel free to move to Canada or England. You get it there, though its far from free. Of course you also get long wait times for basic health care too, so thats the choice. Rationed, managed care that Obama wants, or quality care for the majority of people who pay their bills, and continued basic care for those who don't. Troglodytes who want to bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator please, stay in your own country.

Has Free Speech disappeared from America? All this guy Wilson did was to call Obama a liar! Most politicians are liars, we all know that. He was stating the obvious. Why all the fuss. Surely a political arena is where people are allowed to express their views, however distasteful, freely? Obama`s America seems to be becoming more like the old Soviet Union every day.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

you guys ever see those Korean politicians throwing down and kicking each others butts? Now we are seeing what's wrong and why nothing gets done, too many wimps. If I were Obama, and didn't like what was said to me, I would have thrown that hammer at him. I mean what is this, a movie theater?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

there are no immigration-related restrictions on who can participate President Obama’s proposed health insurance exchanges;" http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/09/from-the-fact-check-desk-illegal-immigrants-and-health-care-reform.html

hmm.....

Molenir: "Regarding all the donations this guys opponent got, I have to wonder, how many of those donations are from members of his own district."

Daily Kos is reported to have raised a huge amount of the money, according to some news sources.

"lol, if you're not American, why does this even concern you?"

Ah, it's always clear that someone's on the right path and has touched a nerve when someone with no defense has to scrape the bottom of the barrel with the 'you're American and can therefore have no valid opinion'-type argument.

skip: from the news: "As it turns out, the man who called Obama the liar may actually be off base. According to Politifact.com, a nonpartisan site dedicated to fact-checking the claims of "candidates, elected officials, political parties, interest groups, pundits, talk show hosts," Obama wasn't lying when he said the health-care reforms he's proposing would not apply to illegal immigrants."

Hmmm, indeed.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skip: Sorry... here's ONE link that points out that fact. I recommend going to politfact to find out more.

Molenir: "Why should the US jump on the socialism bandwagon."

I never get tired of hearing you guys panic about terminology you clearly don't understand.

"Ah, it's always clear that someone's on the right path and has touched a nerve when someone with no defense has to scrape the bottom of the barrel with the 'you're American and can therefore have no valid opinion'-type argument." says smithinjapan.

What does this mean? You don't make sense sometimes. Americans aren't supposed to have opinions about their own country? Where are you from?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

smith: politfact is way too much in one direction. I got that news from ABC, which has been so far a staunch support of Obama. But at least they are not afraid to go the other direction from time to time. Besides, I already told you, you need to go to the Spanish language sites, you get a much more fairer news as there is no need for them to be biased. The American news outlets are way too biased in either direction. I haven't check out any Canadian news though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

besides smith, once this is passed, it doesn't mean it won't be changed after the fact and that is what got a great many independents in an uproar. Its a shame that so far as of lately, only the repubs are batting for us. The Dems have thrown us under the bus. The can easily put what got this old white angry in the bill, clear cut and dry and prevent any future access on the tax payers dime.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

and that includes the amount this may cost. Once he is out it is the next guy we gotta worry about. Isn't this what happened before?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

seijichuu: "What does this mean? You don't make sense sometimes. Americans aren't supposed to have opinions about their own country? Where are you from?"

Can't see the forest for the trees, eh? Go back and read the comment again... Slllllooooowwwwllllyyyyy... if you can't see that clearly I am saying EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion on ANY issue, regardless of nationality. It's Americans who come on to this Japan site and say that non-Americans are not entitled to an opinion that 'don't make sense' (ie. need a reality check). Either you can't see the obviousness of what I'm saying or you see it and possibly just made the worst attempt at spinning something I've ever seen.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong: "politfact is way too much in one direction."

It does indeed point out a lot for facts in favour of one group than another, and I don't like them for that 'fact', but they are nonetheless still facts.

"But at least they are not afraid to go the other direction from time to time."

Sorry to get technical, but if politfact is 'too much in one direction' and not 'completely' in one direction then clearly they're not afraid to go in the other direction sometimes either.

"Besides, I already told you, you need to go to the Spanish language sites, you get a much more fairer news as there is no need for them to be biased."

Now, are you trying to be funny again? Are you SURE -- you, a person of Cuban ancestry who always goes back to it time and time again, talks about Hispanics often with bias -- can say without a doubt that the Spanish sites are not bias? Sounds like a subjective judgement to me.

"The American news outlets are way too biased in either direction. I haven't check out any Canadian news though."

Neither have I -- it's much to boring. :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

skipthesong: "besides smith, once this is passed, it doesn't mean it won't be changed after the fact and that is what got a great many independents in an uproar."

Ah, here's the skip I know... basing arguments on 'possibilities'. Okay, I'll bite; it's possible it will be changed after the fact. Here's one for you to chew on: it's possible it won't. It's also possible that a great many people are in an uproar because they are quick to believe disinformation and lies.

"Its a shame that so far as of lately, only the repubs are batting for us."

HA! Best laugh of the day, skip. Yeah, clearly they're batting FOR you when they are going against universal healthcare.

"The Dems have thrown us under the bus. The can easily put what got this old white angry in the bill, clear cut and dry and prevent any future access on the tax payers dime."

Whatever THAT means.

You know he was lying.

Does anyone SERIOUSLY think that any bill put forth by Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc.. is NOT going to take care of the illegals?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Poor analogy, smithinjapan. When you take over a company it is not something you campaign to do, and your appointment to the top position is often decades in coming.

Obama CHOSE to run for president.

He needs to own up to it.

True Leaders take responsibility.

"True Leaders take responsibility"

That'll be something amazing to behold for the first time since 2000.

ha ha ha ... still watching pro-wrestling are you? go back to the trailer park mullet! politics has too many syllables for a mouth-breather, like you!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I watched the event on CNN, what a sad, sorry pack of losers all the sour faced grimmacing Republicans were. You couldn't have paid people to look more scornful and catawampus.

The most sour-faced of all was Pelosi; god - even being a democrat, how can anyone like that woman?

I agree that it was low-brow to yell insults at the President. Of course he's not dodging shoes just yet, which I seem to recall met with much joy; but apples to oranges I suppose. We seem to have long ago lost a respect for the man/office regardless of party once the election ends. I think that's a pity as it showed a society with much more class.

At the same time I think by virtue of the term 'democracy', any president is up for scrutiny and criticism - it's part of the job. While I think yelling out in speech to congress is way out of line an inappropriate, I dislike the feeling that seems prevalent within Obama supporters that any sort of ridicule is taboo. I recall that late night commenary shows (Letterman, Tonight Show) were saying that they were not going to 'make fun of' the President. I also heard the stupid comment that any such ridicule would be racist simply because our leader is black. Utter rubbish. The ability to poke fun at and criticize our leaders is part of the more positive aspects of our democracy. Rudeness is just that and shoudn't be practiced or tolerated. The man's actions were indefensible in the manner carried out, but his opinion is his right.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I agree with tigermoth. He was right, his actions and his choice of venue in expressing them were wrong.

My mother taught me to NEVER apologize for telling the truth.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Health care reform won't go into effect until 2013. Obama will be in his second term so it won't affect him. I almost feel sorry for the repubs. They are so naive.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

seijichuu: "Obama CHOSE to run for president. He needs to own up to it."

When has he NOT owned up to it? As far as I know, this is about what the media said, and you even in your first post talked about the media saying 'Obama was saddled', no? So, even if we entertained the possibility that you were correct, just for humour's sake, can you show me where Obama says he is saddled with these wars?

Or are you just jumping from what one person says to your own off-base conclusions AGAIN? (rhetorical question)

Get with it, Seijichuu.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

TheMarion: "My mother taught me to NEVER apologize for telling the truth."

No offense, but bringing your mother into a childish defense of this man isn't doing the dear woman justice. What's more, this man didn't tell the truth, he let go a harsh invective at the wrong moment, based no lies. In other words, the man apologized because he was wrong to do what he did, and even though he may not admit it, he is also the liar in this case.

I can't believe it. Washington Post is saying that Wilson has picked up a whopping 750,000 dollars in contributions in the 48 hours since his outburst. When did the wingers learn to organize like this?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Today I read that Wilson has received over a million in donations and has surpassed Rob Miller. This can't be.
