When was the last time a current president of the US made an appearance on a talk show?

JFK and Nixon were on the Tonight show, but they were still candidates.

Clinton was on MTV where he "blew his sax" and talked about his skivvies but, he was still a candidate.

Besides, with the state of broadcast "journalism" being what it is here in America today, Obama appearing on Leno may well be the least partisan venue available.

When Obama was talking about illegal immigration, he sounded pretty much like Bush, or McCain. Wonder why Bush or McCain didn't get the same kind of cheering?

I can't figure ouy why they were cheering. Nationally, Hispanic unemployment is about 12%, in California, it must be much worse, and that's partially due to illegal immigration. As long as there is a labor surplus, due to illegal immigration, they can expect very little "hope" or "change", or continued high unemployment, and declining wages/salaries, even among Hispanics.

Obama might get a standing ovation for his stance on illegals in parts of California, but in other parts of the U.S., most parts, he might not get the same response.

America gets two comics for the price of one.

Do you think Obama will give his contributions from AIG back on live TV? that would be cool!

Clinton was on MTV where he "blew his sax"

As I recall, candidate Bill Clinton blew his sax on the Arsenio Hall show. He was behind in the polls and the sax playing helped put him into the spotlight. The underwear question was on MTV. Bush was on Letterman and Leno as a candidate before his first term. I don't recall ever seeing a sitting US president on an evening talk show before.

If Leno had any cajones, he'd have Bill Ayers and Jerry Wright on as surprise guests.

Leno should have booked Obama's teleprompter as his quest since it does all the talking for the Affirmative Action president.

Jerry and Jay may sound similar, but it's not Springer, it's Leno. :)

The nation must find a way, he said, to strengthen its borders while also giving about 12 million illegal immigrants a path to possible citizenship.

I agree.

We first have to strengthen the borders and stop the onslaught of immigrants. The last 8 years there was a lot of talk, but nothing was done. I take that back, when the states ask for help the National Guard did help some. I think they have mostly all gone home.

The southern borders have to be locked down, a border barrier that can't so easily be climbed or dug under.

Actually Mexico has to do something to keep their people at home. The conditions in Mexico and elsewhere lend themselves to be a catalyst for Latinos to want to leave their homeland and come here. < :-)

talking for the Affirmative Action president.

By Affirmative Action president, you mean the president that the majority of Americans voted for.

Leno? Why would he want to do that? Oh I get it. Leno can only ask approved of questions, so he can get by without the teleprompters. Somebody better tell Obama to stop campaigning and start presidenting.

Althought I think it's cute how all the j-kids say "yes we can!"

President Obama: "You don't get to choose between paying your mortgage bills or your medical bills"

Of course not. Under President Obama, we don't have to pay either one.

timesup: "Can we get a president that isn't a total embarrassment?"

You mean you're not satisfied with our current president?

America's first socialst president since carter.

Bush was a socialist president as well.

sarge: "Explain!"

Ah, more robotic in your 'rebuttals' by the day. He means your former president was more socialist, since you guys insist on throwing the term around, than Obama. There. Explained. If you need us to explain HOW bush was more 'socialist', you've proven more than ever you fell 100% into his trap. But hey... better not admit it... he might be spying still on your secret emails, if Obama hasn't reversed that travesty of justice as well.

smithinjapan - "He means your former president was more socialist... thaan Obama."

You've got to be kidding. Do you have anything to back that up? Anything whatsoever?
