I have no idea why Obama chose this time, just after his reelectiion, to visit Burma. America is on the brink of collapse, economically, there are growing numbers of homeless people there, and yet he chooses to go on a very expensive foreign trip? Surely there are more than enough problems in his own backyard? It is mind boggling that this man was relected to the presidency.

Obama went at this time because it's when ASEAN is meeting in Cambodia, along with China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Russia among other Asian nations. The US wants to take part in this big Asian summit, when many players would be all in one place making diplomatic dealings easier and less expensive than going to each country separately, as it refocuses to Asia. Burma/Myanmar is just a step away from Cambodia, so it's also financially cheaper to do it now rather than later, as reciprocal support of Aung San Suu Kyi's struggle for democracy for when Secretary of State Clinton's visit there earlier in the year.

Yes, of course. America is "pivoting" to Asia after leaving the Middle East in ruin. It is about divide and conquer Asia in the same manner that it decimated the ME. When any leader of the US speaks about transforming a sovereign nation into a democracy, the people should be afraid because the record in the ME is that any nation not kowtowing to America gets bombed and invaded.

And it seems to be all about oil and the US dollar (central banking).

To be sure. America...making enemies out of friends everywhere around the world. You will recall that Al Qaeda was created by the CIA to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. Maybe the US should stop creating and arming terrorists who then use their assets to fight America. Think of all the innocent civilians and US military personnel in foreign lands who might still be alive today if the US was not so intent on molding the world in its image.
