Excuse me, Mr. President. Isn't there a financial issue in the USA that needs your leadership? Take two aspirins and call me in the morning is not the remedy. You need to be in Washington, D.C. an show some decision making.

What job, noriyosan? You are barking to a wrong tree. President cannot do a damn thing right now. The congress IS responsible to get it fixed. President has already said that he has a pen and ready to sign it.

Going off the cliff is a negative metaphore GOP created to make it look bad for political reasons. Actually it will NOT go off the cliff. The best description should be slowly going down to the slope. Personally, I am for letting it go down.

Big welcome.

Obama may be hoping for big parcel of petroleum blocks for exploration.

Quote: " the country has proven crude oil reserves of 3.2 billion barrels and gas reserves of 11.8 trillion cubic feet. ...Despite some sanctions continuing to affect investment in Burma, recent political developments inside and outside the country are encouraging. If the Burmese Government continues on the path towards democracy and sanctions ease further, more opportunities will open for involvement in Burma's oil and gas industry. Recent developments may lead to additional companies tendering for the next round of Burmese petroleum blocks." http://www.allens.com.au/pubs/ener/foene27apr12.htm

I have no idea why Obama chose this time, just after his reelectiion, to visit Burma. America is on the brink of collapse, economically, there are growing numbers of homeless people there, and yet he chooses to go on a very expensive foreign trip? Surely there are more than enough problems in his own backyard? It is mind boggling that this man was relected to the presidency.

President Obama has got the charisma thing nailed down.

Obama went at this time because it's when ASEAN is meeting in Cambodia, along with China, Japan, South Korea, India, and Russia among other Asian nations. The US wants to take part in this big Asian summit, when many players would be all in one place making diplomatic dealings easier and less expensive than going to each country separately, as it refocuses to Asia. Burma/Myanmar is just a step away from Cambodia, so it's also financially cheaper to do it now rather than later, as reciprocal support of Aung San Suu Kyi's struggle for democracy for when Secretary of State Clinton's visit there earlier in the year.

Yes, of course. America is "pivoting" to Asia after leaving the Middle East in ruin. It is about divide and conquer Asia in the same manner that it decimated the ME. When any leader of the US speaks about transforming a sovereign nation into a democracy, the people should be afraid because the record in the ME is that any nation not kowtowing to America gets bombed and invaded.

And it seems to be all about oil and the US dollar (central banking).

You tell me how you can grow jobs. Planting "job growing trees" in your backyard? America is not going to collapse unlike Japan.

Wow, this sounds like exactly what Al Quida has been saying.

“I shared with President Thein Sein our belief that the process of reform that he is taking is one that will move this country forward,” Obama told reporters, with Thein Sein at his side.

Obama is a true leader of democracy. He can turn water (Junta) into "bottled water". He is doing just that,

Yeah, I'll say it's good to see Myanmar reforming and if Obama can help that along good on him. Pity he can't convince the Chinese to do likewise but I think that's asking too much.

Chinese love to tell others what to do, but they do not want to be told by others what to do in history. They will never change.

To be sure. America...making enemies out of friends everywhere around the world. You will recall that Al Qaeda was created by the CIA to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. Maybe the US should stop creating and arming terrorists who then use their assets to fight America. Think of all the innocent civilians and US military personnel in foreign lands who might still be alive today if the US was not so intent on molding the world in its image.

This is exactly what Obama wants to do in Asia 40 years after the US left Vietnam with its tail between its legs. Divide and conquer.

Fixed it for accuracy.
