"I've got to tell you, I choked up a little bit leaving my house today"

I hope he doesn't choke as president. Fortunately, we still have two more weeks before he takes office.

You mean like Bush did for eight years? I don't think we have to worry about that. For one he is not a Republican. Secondly, he is in charge, not his V.P., like in Bush's case. Thirdly, and most important he is intelligent.

"You mean like Bush did (choked ) for eight years"

Um, Bush didn't choke for eight years. He did, however keep us safe for seven years.

Well the loser will be gone soon and will go down in history as the W.P.E. Too bad the Democrats did not get 60 seats in the Senate then we would not have to worry about cloture votes. Fifteen more days until the liberal agenda begins. What a relief.

Good riddance to bush, and welcome to Obama! Thank god a president with some intelligence is coming to the White House. Hopefully he can make the US, and the world, safe again, since bush made things far more dangerous (and that is not debatable!).

I'm surprised at how many people are counting down the days to Obama's inauguration as if he were some Messiah. I am an Obama supporter but this adulation is appalling. What do you all think he is going to do on Jan 20?

I'll tell you what he will not be able to do. He will not be able to stop the carnage in Gaza, Iraq or Afghanistan. He will not be able to capture bin Laden. He will not b able to stop global warming. He will not be able to stop the global economic crisis. He cannot save the Big 3 automakers. He cannot stop the AIDS epidemic. He will not be able to avert the scandals that befall his cabinet ministers.

These world crises are like a runaway train. No one world leader can do anything but just go along for the ride. It is not the president that can solve the problems. We have to do it. Each and every one of us has to do our part.

But good luck to him anyway.

It's not every day we have a black man in the White House. And a magic negro? Almost never.

I can't wait until I turn 18 in a couple years so I can legally change my middle name to Barack. He is an insperation to all us teenagers. Obama will solve all the world's problems. He promised he would. Every natoin should replace thier leaders and have Barack Obama be thier head of state.

He has a lot to do if he wants to establish a true Democratic and fair system in the US and around the world. Many people are waiting for this moment. We`ll see how it goes.

I'd almost forgotten we'd elected him.... There are a ton of depressing stories in the news these days.

I'd almost forgotten we'd elected him....

Ha!! Ha!! Only 14 days, 14 hours, 58 minutes and george bush will be gone. It's not just when Barack Obama will be inaugurated, but when george bush no longer able to directly hurt the American people.

It's a breath of fresh air knowing Barack will be at the helm. < :-)

Sarge - "Um, Bush didn't choke for eight years. He did, however keep us safe for seven years."

Right after Bush let through the biggest attack on the US homeland ever.

Yeah, like you have a case :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He's also got nice Ab's, I know the media told me all about it.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Adaydream, I like Bush. He hasn't hurt me. He doesn't take a poll to decided what his opinion is.

I was in the military before he was elected, but I would proudly have served under him had I still been in. It's one of those things where you still takes your chances no matter the current administration.

So far Obama is playin' the conservative - very, very much to my surprise - so I haven't make Complaint One next. I want him to do well for my country. He will be my president even though I voted against him. I didn't vote for McCain as much as I voted against Obama. That's an important distinction.

I assume that you would've voted for Obama had you been a qualified voter.

I probably would have been a keen Bush supporter - if I wanted to destroy America, bankrupt the nation's finances and let the terrorists hit America with the biggest attack on the US mainland in history, which the 43rd president has been incredibly adept at doing. :-)

Obama is bein' passed a torch. I hope he doesn't drop it.

And dat's da name of dat tune.

smartacus: "What do you all think he is going to do on Jan 20?"

He's going to become the first black President of the United States of America, and on that day GWB goes out with the rest of the trash. Are people not allowed to look forward to such things? If you order a product in the mail can you not be excited when it arrives and should simply be satisfied while waiting? What will change is that the product arrives at its desired destination, and begins to serve its purpose.

At any rate, it will be an historic day, and it's perfectly fine for people to look forward to that, I think. I don't think anyone believes all the ills of society will suddenly disappear or anything.

USARonin, thanks for your comments but I don't buy most of them because I don't believe in fantasy.

"America is just fine and will continue to be fine. We have proven to the world time and time again that no matter what happens, we remain resilient."

Please tell us: US national debt, and how much it has increased under GWB. Unemployment, and how much it has increased under GWB.

"The first six years of the Bush administration the economy was excellent; it wasn't until the Democrat-promoted Fannie-Mae ponzi scheme crashed."

Under Bush and financial industy regualtions he presided over, could have changed but didn't.

"a world promoter of terroris named Saddam is no longer the head of his government."

This comment is funny. Why was Saddam such a threat? Why not take out other dictators and bad guys like Kim Il Jong, Chavez, Mugabe and Castro while you are at it?

You will likely have no answers.

But the answer I have for you is that taking out Saddam cost the US taxpayer and future generations a sweet $2-3 trillion.

And Saddam wasn't even a threat.

That's just beyond dumb and you know it. :-)

America's greatest enemy in the past 8 years have been GWB and Dick Cheney.

USARonin - I assume that you would've voted for Obama had you been a qualified voter.

And you're saying what? < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm sayin' if you were old enough, and if you were an American citizen, and if you were not a convicted felon, it reads like you would've voted for Obama.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The first six years of the Bush administration the economy was excellent; it wasn't until the Democrat-promoted Fannie-Mae ponzi scheme crashed.

Ah yes them darn Democrats! Talking gibberish about the "ownership society", and running countries like Iceland into the ground with their evil Ponzi schemes. Just think what damage they can do now that they actually have power!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Just think what damage they can do now that they actually have power!

They've had power for the last two years. Why dya think the eggs just hit the fan now?

Ah-h-h-h

Don't you just wish that george bush had gotten his privitizing Social Security? Not only could we have the $5 Trillion dollars lost, we could have another $100 Billion lost to the thieves on Wall Street.

I am so glad they george bush is almost gone. And I'm ecstatic that Barack Obama is going to be the next United States President. < :-)

"I'm sayin' if you were old enough, and if you were an American citizen, and if you were not a convicted felon, it reads like you would've voted for Obama."

What a waste of space. Between this and the other thread today this guy is more or less as gone as GWB, only it won't make for an interesting thread.

Anyway, adaydream, you're bang on, as usual, and I agree 100%; Obama will by far be a bette r leader than bush was, and the world will be better for it. Hopefully it can make it a safer place after bush sabotaged US relations and brought about a surge in terrorism. We'll see soon enough, I guess.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SmithinJapan, so who did you vote for? I'm thinkin' 'Obama'.

Who's your Congressman?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USARonin: Doesn't matter... point is I'm free to cheer for whomever I choose, my friend. Doesn't matter one wit if I can vote for Obama or not. Actually, that fact should make you happy. If anyone in the world could vote in US politics instead of simply having an opinion, GWB would have never seen so much as a Senate seat, let alone destroy the reputation and name of the President of the USA. You can bet your a$$ I would have voted for Obama if I could have, though. Hope you don't think you're a genius for figuring that one out.

Once again, my friends... only a few more days with the worst president in history, and then in with Obama, who will most certainly be nothing less than a million times better.

Name call all you want, Ronin... we all know who's taking the stage in a short time. Smile and sleep well with that fact -- the only one who'll have gotten you obliterated during said sleep is bush, since he made the world a far more dangerous place than it was before him. Obama will make you safe, my friend.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USARonin: Keep on tryin' to diss, my frien'. T'ain' worth a dime.

In addition to making the US safer and the reputation of the US better around the world (and hence, even SAFER!), him doing so makes the world a safer and better place. I have every right to comment on that fact, my friend.

People like you just love being angry and jaded, that's all. It's going to be funny watching you get upset over being happier under Obama.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

USARonin: "I don't get emotional and upset as you ladies"

Hahahaha.... like water off a duck, he says as he tries to throw in that breakdown poke. Anyway, seriously, Ronin, it's been a pleasure. There's no way you're still going to be on this board after tonight. If you do, I honestly suggest that you elevate the tone of your posts; I know from experience. All your anger and overreaction and Narcissism is definitely going to get you kicked off. Just look at the thread on the Gaza invasion! You haven't made a single post in the last 10 that isn't going to be wiped out, and I don't think there's one on here that won't be, either. That in turn means mine will too, of course (on this thread), but there's a HUGE difference in tone between the two; yours is simply childish ranting -- I'm sorry, but it's the truth -- where I am pointing that out.

Now, once again, do you have anything to talk about in relation to the thread, or is it more 'water off a duck' denial?

I for one am going to hit the sack. I suspect most of these posts won't be here in the morning, so I bid you adieu, probably in more ways than one.

In the meantime, don't forget the message of the thread; Obama has moved to the White House to be your next president. I seriously don't know why that upsets the few of you who still support bush -- he's a far better man, and a much better human being. The world has already begun looking forward to him as president, and looking forward to bush being out of there. Hell, even in your own country bush is already being touted as one of the worst presidents EVER, with only his wife and Condi and a few others to say otherwise.

Good riddance, GWB... welcome OBAMA!!

Why dya think the eggs just hit the fan now?

Transfer of the wealth away from the USA that occurred because of the two wars being fought.

No.
