Amazing, Obama wants business leaders to support a bill that would crush these peoples businesses? He wants them to support a bill that would irreparably harm the US economy? Is he President of the US, or President of China? Cause this would make a lot more sense if he was the Chinese Premier.

"He wants them to support a bill that would irreparably harm the US economy?"

It's comments like his that so clearly highlight the lack of knowledge some people have about the risks of climate change.

Doing nothing and continuing using fossil fuels is probably fine in the short term, but let's face it - fossil fuels are going to run out.

We need to shift to a better source or sources of energy - and soon.

People like Molenir apparently seem to think we'll be just fine barrelling on like we are sucking up finite resources.

What's going to happen when we run out of oil? That'sgoing to irreparably harm the economy way more tha starting to change to renewables now.

Molenir seems quite happy for countries that are racing ahead developing green technologies and renewables - like Germany, China, Russia and Japan - to take the lead and take the market.

Leaving American technology, jobs and earnings in the dust.

It's comments like this that so clearly highlight the lack of knowledge some people have about the ability of humans to control the Earth's climate.

Sarge, do you also want to flush away good green sector jobs to China and other countries?

Why?

Germany has already created 50,000 jobs buildsing solar panels - that was last year.

"Germany has already created 50,000 jobs ( building ) solar panels"

Sushi, can those solar panels power the trucks that deliver the stuff you buy at Family Mart?

Sushi, do you still believe that humans have the ability to control the Earth's climate?

Sarge - "Sushi, can those solar panels power the trucks that deliver the stuff you buy at Family Mart?"

Sarge, solar powered planes ca fly around the planet. Trusks will come soon.

"Sushi, do you still believe that humans have the ability to control the Earth's climate?"

Um. we have been for decades - making it hotter.

Check a graph of human population and atmospheric CO2 content and get back to us about how they are directly correlated.

Sarge, do you really want good jobs to be sucked out of America fo the sake of short-term profit?

Why?

And anyway, smart American businesses are taking dealing with climate change into their own hands, ignoring the foot-dragging and denials of - generally - conservatives like yourself - and ripping ahead creating new technologies themselves.

And

Sarge, do you also want to flush away good green sector jobs to China and other countries?

Good green jobs? Thats a contradiction in terms. You realize that for every "green" job created, 2 jobs are lost? Yeah, look it up. The data is there. By forcing a shift to "green" jobs, you're actually doing more to harm the economy. Look at Spain as an example of this. So, to answer you're question, yeah, I'd really like to see other countries take all the "good" green jobs.

Um. we have been for decades - making it hotter.

You still trying to push this silliness? Really? Come on Sushi, you know theres no real evidence to support it. All we are doing is acting to prevent some hypothetical, completely unproven hypothesis. Now, putting more emphasis on renewable energy is a good idea, however doing so to "save" the environment is nonsense. We should do so, because these resources are finite. We should get the technology in place for the renewable energy sources, before we run out of the nonrenewable sources of energy. But not because some boogey man claims we're going to turn into Venus unless we act now! Only gullible fools would believe that.

Sushi: "Sarge, solar powered planes ( can ) fly around the planet"

Sushi, I guarantee the next plane you fly on will be powered by jet fuel. And the one after that, and the one after that, and the one after that.

But what about the one after that? How long is your guarantee valid for? I'm interested in your in-depth knowledge.

Molenir,

Good green jobs? Thats a contradiction in terms. You realize that for every "green" job created, 2 jobs are lost? Yeah, look it up. The data is there

I did look it up and you are wrong for every green job created though a new green job project it perpetuates another non-green job. Spain's economic demise has nothing to do with green jobs. Look at the UK, Netherlands, France, Poland, Germany as some of the best examples but there are countless others benefiting from new green job sectors of their economy. Windmills, solar cells and other green projects more often use construction workers to install the technology. Molenir would probably count the construction worker as a green job that took the place of a non-green job.

Molenir is the type of person who has no understanding of direct correlation. He thinks if green jobs are being created while unemployment is rising it is because of the green jobs. Wake up Molenir there was a housing crisis and a financial meltdown.

Just think of how stupid these people are that listen to 1 scientist out of 1000. Carbon emissions have been proven without a doubt to cause global warming. Remember when these guys used to deny there really was warming? Now that they changed their tune they call it "climate change." Molenir likes to tell how little humans contribute but he doesn't see that it is only a few degrees we are talking about not even 10 degrees. The prospect of a four-degree Celsius rise in global average temperatures in 50 years is a given with the current emissions outputs and that is huge. Look up what just 4 degrees would do and you will be amazed. Many islands would just disappear because of the rise in sea level.

The accelerated effect of more carbon in the atmosphere could make things much worse.

Just think of how stupid these people are that listen to 1 scientist out of 1000. Carbon emissions have been proven without a doubt to cause global warming.

Er, no it hasn't. Its all unproven speculation. Not only is it unproven speculation, people are responsible for less then 4% of the total amount of CO2 released every year. Thats all. Everything else is natural systems. Yet somehow we're supposed to be throwing everything out of whack? Despite the fact that at times, the level of CO2 has been much higher then it is now.

Remember when these guys used to deny there really was warming? Now that they changed their tune they call it "climate change." Molenir likes to tell how little humans contribute but he doesn't see that it is only a few degrees we are talking about not even 10 degrees.

The eco nuts were the ones who shifted to "climate change" when they realized the earth wasn't warming as they wanted. Under the aegis of the changing climate, they could then claim that everything was evidence of "climate change". AmericanIdiot apparently missed that memo. Sorry bud, but the earth is actually cooling. Has been for about the past 10 years. Thats what the people involved in the 'climategate' memo were trying to hide. One of the statistical tricks to hide the data they were referring to. And knowing that, is one of the reasons why they switched to calling it 'climate change'.

Now for every green job costing 2 non green jobs. Thats not my data. Again look it up, the information is there. No Spains economic downfall is not directly related to 'green jobs'. There aren't that many of those jobs just yet. It is however statistically significant. (A statement I doubt you understand.)

Sorry bud, but the earth is actually cooling. Has been for about the past 10 years. - Molenir

That's all you need to say. Mostly all of the educated conservatives now acknowledge that the earth's climate is warming. They just say that the humans are not the cause of it and it will straighten itself out. Look it up.

Here's a clue when your science book begins with an explanation of intelligent design the rest of it will be bullsh** too.

There is no point in telling you to look up information because it is all there and always has been but you will only read your books on Intelligent Design like Of Pandas and People or The Design of Life: Discovering Signs of Intelligence in Biological Systems. And you will only read faulty studies written by pandering scientists.

It is people that cannot understand science that deny so many of the scientific findings that we have today. These people do not take science seriously. So they go scientist shopping to find scientists that will agree that evolution is a farce or that the earth is actually cooling instead of warming. The scientists are just pathetic that cater to these imbeciles. The scientists are the type that said smoking was not bad for your health when evidence clearly showed that it was in the 60's and even later.

So Molenir can shop around and find a tiny, fractional minority of scientists who will support his drivel but they all have zero credibility. There is a reason they can't get their work published in any respectable science publication or forum.

The sky is falling, and only Dear Leader Obama can save us.

Al Gore bought a nine million dollar mansion on the coast of California over the weekend. It has 6 fireplaces. Seriously, these prophets of doom are laughing all the way to the bank.
