That's quite the strawman. 'Everybody' doesn't hate Americans.

Well, I would have preferred having tighter regulations, but since the 1990s to now the air quality in my city has definitely improved by leaps and bounds. Used to have high pollution days almost every week, now its down to every couple of months if not more. Still do get some manufacturers pollution from the nearby Commerce City though. Purina dog chow does not smell all that great while its being made.

Deaths due to smog related illnesses have been practicly obliterated due to anti pollution regulations here. I can remember how it used to be especialy during the winters, dense yellow plumes of acrid smoke that you could actualy taste. I cant understand Obama backing down on this piece of legistlation

Laying blame on both parties for recent impasses is not in the least bit fair. Obama has characterized his presidency around the search for common ground, and for that, he's lost the faith of his backers while gaining zero from the opposition. The failure in his choice to reach out leaves two choices: to totally capitulate, which would be a mockery of the democratic system; or to become more partisan, which is what everyone is bemoaning in the first place. Let's hope that after his reelection he shifts towards more partisanship because the Republicans are really driving America into a hole even deeper than Bush & Co. left it with.

Its more like the people worked, despite the two-party system. It was not planned nor wanted by the Founding Fathers, even though it began in their time. But Americans had a sense of conciliation that they seem have lost. One paper wrote scathing accusations about John Adams, but then turned around and sung his praises after he won the election for the second presidency. Even Jefferson, who lost to Adams, had no hard feelings. You don't see much of that today. Republicans react to Obama as if the election had not even happened yet.

And Americans wonder why everyone hates them?

It's the moderate Americans I feel for, stuck in between the perpetual slagging match between all those screaming radicals with their stagnant two-party system.

Don't blame the two-party system, it worked for over two centuries after all. The real problems are cultural decay, radicalization of political views, and special interests.

Lame duck? He chose money over health and the future, and snubbed the scientists. I am sure most Americans agree with this decision.
