that's either hillary or al sharpton.

I'd be happy with a VP who doesn't drop F-bombs on the floor of the Senate, goes his/her entire term without shooting someone in the face and doesn't have the need to have an industrial shredder delivered to his/her residence for undisclosed purposes. Yeah, the bar has been set pretty darn low.

Tough ask. I lasted about a week before I gave into the urge.

Maybe he's considering Ron Paul?

"he did describe the qualities he's looking for. Shyness and blind loyalty are not among them."

If that be the case, Hillary would have to be the best choice here. But this is all academic - Americans are not going to have a brain fart so big as to elect Barack Obama president.

Taka - You really dislike our vice president, don't you?

Altria - Good one.

His old pal, "Rev." Jeremiah Wright, is already on record saying he wants to be VP.

Problem solved.

Sarge - "Americans are not going to have a brain fart so big as to elect Barack Obama president."

Yes, he will be elected, and you'll be left out in the cold again :-)

You really still think your VP is a good man, don't you? :-)

"Vice President Jeremiah Wright"... hmmm...

Actually, Obama should pick Bill Clinton to be his VP. The ultimate revenge against Hillary for all the nasty things she said about him.

Hilary might be a good candidate. That way she couldn't force a floor vote at the Convention.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

well at least if it was Hilary, Obama wouldnt have to go far to have a Monica type experience... Hilary already has knee pads...

But picking a woman to run on a card with a Minority is like hanging yourself with your own tie..... Hes going to have a hard enough time getting elected at all even with a white older male VP..and most likely will not get elected at all due to the unwillingness of American voters to have a Minority as president. So no matter how much a person wants him in its not a majority. I wish him good luck and have to say he is a hell lot better then Jesse Jackson running again:)

most likely will not get elected at all due to the unwillingness of American voters to have a Minority as president." Ok, now I am going to step in on this one. First of all, I have been told for as long as I can remember, that no way would America ever pick a black for president. Well, only two I can think of actually ran in the big leagues, Jessie and Al and no, it wasn't the fact that they were black, most of the US know that they are snakes. Now take a look at who is voting for Obama, many many whites and Hispanics (we are not as united with Blacks as many seem to believe). Obama is up there because there now are enough people who see beyond a person's color or ethnicity and if anything comes out of this excited election it goes to show, no not your color, not your ethnic background, but the person him/herself. I don't care what anyone tries to sell me one, O has the mode of moving people and he is being voted for and being lifted not by blacks, but by whites, and not necessarily liberal ones either and now Hispanics.

I agree younger people in metro areas are more open minded, but that is not enough to overturn the older generations and rural areas ideas of a minority in office will doom the US. I wish America was more open minded but it just isnt, go to Kare11.com and read the forum about any news article (this is midwest area) and see how they talk about minorities. Its one of the reason we moved back to Japan from that area....

Obama is such an empty suit he definitely needs someone who can put more than 2 words together without a teleprompter in front of them, and maybe an actual idea or stance about something.

nippon5: I think people tend to read they want to and assume what the story says before finish reading it. There is a lot of mistrust amongst all people in the states and yes, there is a strong mistrust against blacks than any other but one would have to agree that a lot of it is due to what they see and not what they think. I said this before on JT that if one group feels they are getting a bum rap and don't feel the stereo type fits, they need to first look within. Why should people who are not accustomed to others have to have an open mind? You equally have blacks, right here on JT, who feel it is due for the US to have a black president, not an oriental, not an Hispanic, not a Jew, nothing else. I disagree. Still you need to look more at numbers. A lot of Anglos I know go so far out of their way to prove they ain't racist when they really don't have to. Additionally, if you want to measure things up, you have to take a look at cities that are run by black elits, many if not most of them, are not doing to well and that is also a reflection. I am sure many do ask themselves will he (O) build an administration full of minorities? Will Anglos have to lose their power base? Should they be willing to give it up?

Not for nothing, if you look at countries in South America, even Cuba, that have large black populations and even larger than the US, you won't see many getting a push like you see in the states at the moment. Obama is not a Jessie nor an Al and many see that. They do look past his color.

Obama will lose if he chooses Hillary, she has been too quick to attack white males at the lower and mid income level. If he chooses a non-white Hispanic, which I kind of wish for in the back of my mind, he will lose as it will only prove what a lot of whites do say and that is white and black can't live together.

How can Hillary be on a short list with all the crap she has said about him? If I were him, I would choose McCain over him instead of her, I feel he is a lot more respectful to Obama than she and Bill were.

It really makes no difference who obama chooses as a runningmate. He'll need to borrow about 40 million blacks from somewhere for a day in early November in order to be given the keys to the White House.

In addition, hillary only suspended her race for the Oval Office; which is proving to be a wise move on her part. Given the rookie U.S. senator from Illinois' waffling on issues that are near and dear to the far-left contingent of the democrat party that originally selected him (he was against the death penalty and is now for it; He was for a complete ban on handguns and now opposes it, etc.), don't be too surprised if the Super D's exhibit buyers' remorse in Denver late next month.

"Yes, Sir", my behind. Ridiculous article. He is looking for whatever will help win the election, period.

"unwillingness of American voters to have a Minority as president"

What about President David Palmer? No, wait, that was fiction! Damn, I wish that character was a real person, I'd vote for him over McCain in a New York minute!

I don't know....Obama seems to like the spotlight, his V.P should be pretty humble so as not to be in any danger his hogging it.

Tough call for him to say the least.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

RR, so you are not enthused about the fact that he is getting votes across color lines? I recall someone saying Coin Powell, at that time would have this effect. Now, that. Colin Powell would make a good VP regardless of his race, people on both the left and the right would vote for him.

"says more than "Yes, sir"

How about, "Yes, sir, my Lord and Messiah" ha ha ha

"Tough call for him"

Tough call? It's a no-brainer - Bill Clinton! Ha ha ha

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skip!!!!

I thought Colin would be the greatest V.P McCain could chose and I hope they have talked about it. Second choice would be Olympia Snowe in my opinion.

As far as Obama's choices I'll leave my opinion about his ego is more important than choosing a good veep from a very sparse Democratic field (except for Bill Richardson) now that would change my opinion about him more if he chose him.

Shyness and blind loyalty are not among them.

I guess my Japanese girlfriend is out.

"Obama looking for VP who says more than 'Yes, sir'"

Meanwhile, Sen. McCain wants to find a Veep who can tell him what channel he can see the Internet on :-)

Harmony and efficiency oriented guys are out!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yeah you're right, John McCain definately doesn't want anybody with harmony and efficiency oriented. You can't have harmony and efficiency oriented guys when you want to continue the george bush policies.

Barack Obama will be looking for someone who thinks on his own and on his feet. Not a follow the leader type of person or pittbull. < :-)

Obama, why bother looking? You not going to win, you`re just another lib loser Tee hee!! He is the most incompetent candiate ever, so how useless would his VP be? Watch and listen to unbiased media coverage people, and you will see how the honest folk of our great nation are all turning away from this buffoon.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Skip - On that point, I agree. But as we both know obama, the Chicago community organizer, isn't fit to lick the former U.S. Secretary of State's shoes.

Besides, there's little doubt that if it were Gen. Powell's desire to actually run for public office why should he expose himself and his family to the sort of scrutiny (and possible danger) that such a campaign would cause for the number two position?

Nah, obama would best choose his mentor, "Rev." Wright, to be his runningmate. He's the only person barack's listened to in past 20 years.
