Bwhahahaha......Obama is very polite as always. He is basically saying to Putin,"you're an a**hole".

Obama commenting on Putin's rationale? Now THAT's comical. Is comedy is ole folk Barry's future career? A resurgence of Vaudeville perhaps! Take my wife...please!
Crush Them
Separatists? I am pretty sure that if the shoe was on the other foot, they would be labeled as "freedom fighters".
I read this like, a woman wants a divorce. But she is a real batch and does not deserve it. So we should let her husband beat her to a pulp until she changes her mind. And don't nobody even think about giving the woman a weapon to protect herself with. She is a batch remember? She deserves it.
Nonsense. Selfish, greedy nonsense.

Elbuda -- while your comments are typically over-the-top, there is some truth to what you say. By its very nature, the word "rational" is a subjective one. Given Putin's backgound in the KGB; having to witness the collapse of the Soviet Empire; and, now having NATO knocking on his door, he is acting quite rationally by his definition. Especially since he knows Russia is no longer a true world power, but must take advantage when possible to assert itself as a regional one to keep its relevance.

It's about nations totally disregarding international conventions.
Oh, really ? Just like U.S. invasion in Iraq without approval of fhe UN ? Again, you have no rights to demand what to do or what not to do.
Certainly, Russia is playing the same game here in its arming of Ukranian separatists
And the US is supporting the junta in Kiev. Does Russia need to ask Obama or U.S. Congress whether to supply rebels or not ? Cerrainly, not.

Sidekick, par in parem non habet may apply to House Republicans suing Obama but does not to international affairs unaffected by treaty, in which case playground rules apply: If you don't play by my rules, I'll just take the ball and go home.
Certainly, Russia is playing the same game here in its arming of Ukrainian separatists - if the West doesn't like it, well, no gas.
The question amounts to who has bigger balls.

Uh-huh, Par in parem non habet iurisdictionem. However the phrase is hardly applicable here. It's not about jurisdiction. It's about nations totally disregarding international convention.
Sidekick
We have a problem here. Neither Russia nor Iran wish to listen an arrogant side who orders what-to-do by implying force, even in political affairs. Par in parem non habet jurisdictionen.

Sidekick, the point of sanctions is to force an unwilling party into negotiations. Look at Iran. Russia will get there eventually; the only question is how much damage it will suffer in the interim.

Ukraine has a billion dollar arms industry. = The reality is that Russia needs Ukraine more than Ukraine needs Russia in relation to weapons. The real question here is will this new un-elected Gov of Ukraine hold or be thrown out with these new IMF sanctions.
Sidekick
U.S. President Barack Obama phoned Russia’s Vladimir Putin to urge him to stop supporting separatists in Eastern Ukraine and seek a diplomatic solution to the crisis that has spurred tough new economic sanctions.
Interesting. First you imposed sanctions, and now you're trying to talk.

I think Mr. Obama is wrong on this one! Putin is acting VERY RATIONAL, not as the leader of a major super power nation, but for the MAFIA, kind of like AL CAPONE?? If we see him for what he REALLY IS, then we can understand his actions, but we should not think of him as a regular human, down to earth, sitting with you at a Kapuna burger and getting a signature (like with Mr.Obama) No, old PUTIN wants to go down in Russian and world history as the great savior of the RUSSIAN WHITE MAN!! Putin and his homeboys are kind of like Crips, Bloods, Sureños but with NUCLEAR ARMS so we need to deal with this Russian MAFIA from another angle, anybody with Russian Mafia experience??
