I would say the geni is out of the box already, and as ran away. To try and stop it now is just a futile jesture.

KuYani - I dunno, so far efforts at keeping nukes out of the hands of out-of-control terrorists seems to have worked. I don't think it's a waste to continue the effort.

Pity the world's sole super power was scared by some broken third world countries! The reason why US failed to stop the orgies by North Korea, a tiny but deadly nation has a population 23million was the risk of angering Peking! An old memory of military defeat 60 years ago still haunting them badly.

just-a-bigguy, there's also the consideration that North Korea has one of the largest standing armies in the world and could easily sweep down into the south. And if NK seriously messes up, I don't think China would have a problem with stepping aside and letting SK/Japan/US take care of business. China uses NK as a thorn in our side; they don't really care about them that much.
