America still has a middle-class?
Virtuoso
Yes, but it's an endangered species.
Laguna
Romney stated yesterday that he would increase military spending beyond even what the Pentagon has requested. The Congressional GOP also echoed his budget policy when it voted to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich while also further cutting taxes on business sectors it is fond of. (It did not, however, support tax credits for companies which repatriate jobs from abroad to America, though such credits do exist for companies sending jobs overseas. Why do they hate American workers so much?)
All that, plus his promise to balance the budget, is Romney's economic rainbow-and-unicorn plan. If realized, this would deal a shock to the middle class that would make Bush's housing meltdown look mild.
Funny how so many on the rabid right do not see this; their naked hatred for Obama has quite blinded them of any ability for rational judgement or discourse.
Madverts
"That would be Obama who's mopping up policies ended up downgrading the U.S. credit rating for the first time in its history."
That's right, thirty years of living beyond your means came to an ugly implosion as Obama took the wheel. I'm glad you pointed that out, it takes a steady hand to guide a nation through such a mess, especially when your sole opposition's only tactic is to block or oppose any strategy at moving forward through a total lack of any novel idea of their own.
You're not resigning yourself to 4 more years are you Sail?
Wolfpack
... says the man that has actually been killing the middle class for the last four years.

Nutjob thing is, conservatives - including every single one on JT - bowed down and said 'woof' when bush and co. were greenlighting every single spending bill they laid eyes on between 2000-2008 - including starting 2 unsinkable wars funded by loans.
Now, these same folks are screaming fiscal responsibility, cut the debt, you name it.
Q: Why didn't they scream this when bush and co were running up the debt and crashing the U.S. and global economies?
A: They were totally blindsided by partisan hatred for the other side.
Q: Did they do the patriotic thing and put America first?
A: Nope.
This president and the Dems have tabled bill after bill of job creation initiatives. Conservatives, backed by their America-hating supporters, have ignored or voted down every singe bill.
Then, hugely ironically, they say they want jobs!?
Well, tell your GOP masters to support job creation initiatives!! Like the one's already out there.
GOPpers, if you're not going to do this, then don't whine about the lack of jobs.
And then there's Mitt.
Mitt wants to waste more taxpayer money and attack Syria.
Mitt wants to cut your and your elderly dependents' benefits.
Mitt wants to extend tax breaks for Job Creators who aren't creating jobs.
Mitt wants to have those without health insurance (could be you) suffer and possibly die of entirely preventable diseases because he thinks the mandatory health insurance scheme he himself trumpeted and introduced in Mass. isn't good enough for the rest of America.
Mitt thinks he's better than you and that ordinary Americans simply don't deserve to see his tax records.
A vote for the GOP is a vote against America and everything good it used to stand for.
SushiSake3
bass4funk, is it true that most conservatives believe modern American history began in January 2009? :-)
Honestly, I haven't seen such a short-sighted post for ages:
base4funk: "Who is the one that has wasted more money in US history more than any other President, Obama."
Who had to mop up the massive global economic meltdown triggered under which president?
Oh yeah, the one you last supported.
base4funk: "Jobless claims are up, disability claims are up. 99 weeks of unemployment. If anyone is not patriotic and spit on the constitution is Obama!"
Who had to mop up the massive global economic meltdown triggered under which president?
Oh yeah........
Do you honestly think in a million years that ANY president who took over from the catastrophic debacle that was GWbUsh's presidency would be able to mop up the mess in just a few years?
A vote for Romney is a vote to continue Conservative policies that will flush America down the global economic toilet.
I'll say it again: This president and the Dems have tabled bill after bill of job creation initiatives. Conservatives, backed by their America-hating supporters, have ignored or voted down every singe bill.
If you want more jobs, why the heck do you support Mitt?
This isn't some fairy tale, this is the real world. It seems conservatives en masse haven't quite worked that out.
Madverts
"If liberals would just stop spending, (but that'll never happen)or cut spending or trying to be fiscally conservative in spending, we'd be a lot further."
Gee Bass, that kinda clashes with Romney's stated goal of expanding military spending dontcha think?
Maybe you could explain fiscally conservative military spending that cost less by spending more. Heh, actually that does sound like it could come from the mouth of today's Republicans.
SushiSake3
Conservatives......conservatives who vote for Mitt will be voting to have Medicare, Medicaid and SS cut for themselves, their own parents and their own grandparents.
Why?
To bless The Job Creators with extended tax cuts.
Can anyone sane explain why any American would do this?
Maybe Wolfpack can, although I doubt it....
Ninoh
They will promise the world to get elected and then boom, back in the same old nonsense.
SushiSake3
Laguna - "Romney stated yesterday that he would increase military spending beyond even what the Pentagon has requested."
I read the same news.
That is simply insane. This president has tabled bills to increase spending on building and repairing America's infrastructure, things like roads and highways that Americans drive on every day.
Not surprisingly, the GOP shot it down.
Some people might scoff when people like me say that conservatives 'hate' America. But how else can you explain it?
Madverts
Jesus Bass, just breathe!
Laguna
Think of the children, Serrano (nannies!), and the pool, and oh so much more! He would only stun them into submission.
gcbel
At least Romney would have the courtesy to get the rope from the middle class.
TheQuestion
If he wanted to undue the current structure of American society I'd be all onboard. He doesn't want to do any such thing. Anybody that thinks that a President Romney would do a single cursed thing differently than the current President is fooling themselves. They're all part of the same problem, they all want to grow government, they all want to help their own little pet projects.
Killing the current system that rewards the companies that lobby the hardest whether they be Solyndra or Halliburton, GE or GM, is doomed to cronism no matter what color pin the man at the top pins to his chest. A system that meets real idea and profit driven business people with competition crushing regulation and fines will eventually grind to a halt. Neither candidate brings anything to the table, at least I don't fool myself into thinking one is worse than the other.

That would be Obama who's mopping up policies ended up downgrading the U.S. credit rating for the first time in its history.
Great article by the way.
Media carrying Obama's water: We're not even going to bother to quote the remarks, ( “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that, somebody else made that happen.”) in question were just going to let you know it's just a little misunderstanding and where just happy clarify it for you dear reader.
SimondB
Has anyone ever heard Romney say anything like "there are to many poor people in this country and I want to change that'?
Anyone?
Madverts
" It doesn't bother you that our Astronauts have to hitch a ride with the Russians, how embarrassing is that?"
It's called "budget reality". When you're broke, you have to cut back.
"Why not stop the spending, spending on pork projects, green energy projects that have been proven to fail, time and time again, "
Because they're a pimple on the pimple of an even tinier pimple on the ass of US military spending. You really don't get it f do you? Republicans are even more off their trolley's and out of touch than the idiot France just elected. Even Hollande understands that to spend you have to tax.
Herve Nmn L'Eisa
For those of you on the Right or Left, can't you recognize that you're being played??? The rhetoric from both sides is BS and only intended to further polarize the masses. BOTH sides ratchet up BIGGER government with increased dependency on largess, whether in the form of pentagon spending or entitlement welfare, neither of which are in the best interest of the people nor the constitutional republic.
Laguna
Ah, this puts you square within the negotiating position of the House Republicans. Run for office, my man: With rhetoric like this and a captive audience (Kansas? Alabama?), you're a shoe-in!
Okay, this might have a meaning, but show me the original language you'd written in before Google Translate screwed it all up.
It is true that Xs look like Ks just as it true that taxes look like penalties. They are, though, different, despite what the GOP majority on the Supremes managed to cobble together to try to salvage their institution.
Pork spending is bipartisan and often quite useful (think: bridges and hospitals). Social spending goes straight into the pockets of those who need it and who tend to immediately recycle it into the economy. Military spending, while necessary to a degree, provides a far smaller stimulus to the economy than any other government program. If you feel current levels are insufficient and can justify greater spending, please be more specific. You are likely dimly aware of how far American military expenditure exceeds those of other nations. Do you think this is because America is just not good at it, or because we have more to preserve?
Serrano
Only the middle class? Wouldn't Romney also kill the poor? LOL...

Press did its job on this actually........
You People? – What Did Ann Romney Say About Mitt’s Taxes on GMA? – There’s a Debate Online.
Was it – “And we’ve given all people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how — you know, how we live our life.”
Or was it – “And we’ve given all you people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how — you know, how we live our life.”
Our ruling after reviewing the original audio is that she did not include the “you.”

Laguna,
Of course . you would use Huffpost as an legitimate source to point it out.
Madverts
Alpha,
You're taking it out of context. Bass was ranting and raving about spending cuts and bemoaning "liberals" for not being fiscally conservative, yet doesn't want to hear that Romney is incredibly talking about allocating more to the military budget. He didn't even realize I was calling the socialists idiots, and for some reason he's gone off on a garbled tangent about 75% tax rates.....
Go figure.
Madverts
Hervé,
How long do we have to wait for your Ron Paul surprise?
Is it coming soon?
just-a-bigguy
The two parties or multi parties political system has nothing achieved but just 'talk soup' and lead everyone to rely on 'food stamps' every dinner! The western political ideologies is unconstructive but endless blaming, blashing!
Laguna
Yeah, Sail, don't you hate it when the press does their job? Like when the HuffPost people today pointed out that when Ann Romney said they'd provided enough tax info to "you people," she probably meant the media, not the 98%. (Probably.) You might want to address the issue at hand, not attack the messenger.
You might also want to finish Obama's quote: “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that, somebody else made that happen - like all of those wealthy foreigners who ponied up over a third of Bain's first $37 million investment fund."

How is possible for the spread the wealth in chief support the middle class? Obama believes in big government (smart ?) that directs and controls the mass (stupid ?) like China in a form of classless society. Is he talking about himself, since the middle class starts to get extinct since he took office. Oh yes, the 1% fat cat in Hollywood, the union bosses, the big donors who got the government contracts like Solyndra are doing fine for his reelection. $15 trillion in debt for about $40 trillion woth of economy is indeed forwarding over the cliff. Kicking can down the road is irresponsible and morally wrong in order to satisfy one's ego. Look at Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland......, America must not go there. Fiscal responsibility and accountability are sustainable for America's future. Be real and stop being deceived folks.

Obamacare will cause millions of people to be out of work.
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act
Firms employing 50 or more people but not offering health insurance will also pay a shared responsibility requirement if the government has had to subsidize an employee's health care.[29]

@SushiSake3: Please don't speak for me in your posts. I must be one of those "conservatives" that you seem to know a lot about, but you are wrong on what you think on how I stood with "W" and his spending. I thought he was spending too much and as a military person who actually had to participate in some of those wars, at first they were needed but later we lost our focus. I am man enough to say that. What I see with Libs like you is that you can't make the same statement about Obama. You keep having to make up excuses for him, just to show the board that you were right in voting for him, and can't admit that voting for him was a mistake.
Alphaape
@ Madverts: If that is the case, thenwhy is the USDA working with the Mexican government on generating information for the illegal alien Mexican immigrants in the USA to assist them in gettting food stamps (excuse me EBT or nutrition assistance) subsidized by the US taxpayer. If we can afford to give free food to illegal aliens in our country, then I think we should be able to maintain our space program.
bass4funk
Maybe you could explain fiscally conservative military spending that cost less by spending more. Heh, actually that does sound like it could come from the mouth of today's Republicans.
Why cut costs on national security? Why not stop the spending, spending on pork projects, green energy projects that have been proven to fail, time and time again, if you want to do it, let the private sector invest in it. But you liberals want to spend, get more taxes, bleed and squeeze every ounce of money from the public sector, expanding the government to the point it's going to burst, but let's forsake our national security and NASA by the way. It doesn't bother you that our Astronauts have to hitch a ride with the Russians, how embarrassing is that?
bass4funk
A liberal talking about budget, will wonders never cease??
Because they're a pimple on the pimple of an even tinier pimple on the ass of US military spending. You really don't get it f do you? Republicans are even more off their trolley's and out of touch than the idiot France just elected. Even Hollande understands that to spend you have to tax.
At 75%? Boy, there isn't a tax you liberals don't love, huh? You tell me I don't get it, how can you take a country with record unemployment and in a recession? Obama said last year, he wouldn't raise ANY takes, especially on the middle class, but then again, he passed that Obamacare, so that truth got smashed. And you tell me I don't have a clue???!

What a load of crap. Obama just one lie after another again and again. Who is the one that is causing all this mayhem? Obama! Who is the one that has wasted more money in US history more than any other President, Obama. Jobless claims are up, disability claims are up. 99 weeks of unemployment. If anyone is not patriotic and spit on the constitution is Obama! The man is so left, he is hitting a wall. 4 more years of this man? How did that stimulus work out? The only thing that Obama is good at besides killing OBL (with the help of Bush) is nothing. The Democratic party is the death of the US. These people want a Quasi-European entitlement socialist system. Something that we don't need, want or can't afford.
bass4funk
No, we believe that the end of America started in 2009
Huh, I thought liberals were big on short-sightedness, they practically invented the word.
Here we go again, yaaawn....same old boring typical liberal rhetoric. No one is saying that Bush did not spend money like a drunken sailor in his last term. I don't think you'll hear any sane conservative or Republican say that, but if you can pit your ideology aside, of course Obama outspent Bush...waaaay outspent him.
http://startthinkingright.wordpress.com/2011/07/28/who-spent-more-average-bush-vs-average-obama-spending-per-day-proves-obama-most-reckless-and-irresponsible-ever/
So then, who will clean up the country and repay our debt to China after Obama's earth scorcher?
Yep, sure did.
base4funk: "Jobless claims are up, disability claims are up. 99 weeks of unemployment. If anyone is not patriotic and spit on the constitution is Obama!"
Well, after Obama leaves office, we won't even have enough buckets on the planet to mop up a third of the Tsunami, that he caused and the beat goes on.....
Oh yeah........
No, but Obama just multiplied it 10 fold, adding to the mess, we are knee deep in the water.
California is in the toilet, who stuck it there? Out of control liberalism and liberal spending. That should be a model to all Americans.
I'll say it again: This president and the Dems have tabled bill after bill of job creation initiatives. Conservatives, backed by their America-hating supporters, have ignored or voted down every singe bill.
Because he, unlike Obama has a resume for creating jobs, that's why.
If liberals would just stop spending, (but that'll never happen)or cut spending or trying to be fiscally conservative in spending, we'd be a lot further.
