If Obama fails to pardon Snowden, his supporters say he may face the death penalty under the incoming administration of Republican Donald Trump, who has called him a “terrible traitor.”

Oh, the irony.

Considering how much weed President Obama has admitted to smoking in his youth, seems only fair to commute lots of overly aggressive convictions.

Doubt he will pardon Mr. Snowden, who did the entire world, especially US citizens, a great service. His deeds HAVE altered internal US policy and brought light to illegal actions of law enforcement and intelligence gathering organizations around the world. Wouldn't having Mr. Snowden out of Russia be better for the USA?

Chelsea Manning probably needs to be moved from prison into a mental hospital for the remainder of the sentence, but that probably isn't possible. Not a power the president holds.

Never pardon Snowden... He's the 2nd greatest traitor after Julian Assange! Oh... Julian Assange is now more reliable than all of the U.S. intelligence agencies? Oh... then go ahead and pardon Snowden. It seems that times change as presidents change...

I believe he should pardon Snowden. As I said before, I didn't like how Snowden did what he did, but I also know that certain federal organizations in the US government that can and will intentionally destroy peoples lives by creating problems for them. Especially when Snowden was attempting to be a whistleblower on the NSA which should result in an investigation that could possibly turn up certain wrongdoings of particular individuals in power.

There is a difference between protecting things that truly affect national security, and things that may expose internal problems of a federal agency.

He may well face the death penalty regardless. Can't see Trump letting a little thing like a presidential pardon get in the way of his putting the world to rights.

I agree Snowden should be pardoned. Manning should have her sentence reduced.

Assange however should be kept in his two up two down prison of choice until he croaks or until the Ecuadorian government see sense and hand him to the British authorities. Trump, Assange and Putin are all enemies of the US and in this together. Never forget that...

Har! Madverts, did you forget that Putin ( one of the enemies of the U.S. ) is protecting Snowden, who should be pardoned? Can't have it both ways.

Putin only helped him to spite Obama, although I realise there are no YouTube videos to help you grasp such a basic premise. And as is pretty much obvious, Putin is clearly having it both ways, not only peeing on Obama's cornflakes but having certainly acquired access to sensitive data stolen by Snowden.

The fight between US intelligence agencies and your traitor Trump is only just beginning. Never forget that hiding your IP address only works for the JT mod serrano - I'm sure all you Assange / Trump lovers made the NSA "undesirable" list. And rightly so. Heh..........

Whistleblowers like Snowden and Yuliya and Vitaly Stepanova may need extra protection
