Why doesn't the House simply send back to the Senate individual bills funding segments of the government? If Reid won’t pass them then he will be responsible for any potential fallout.. Each time the Democrat-controlled Senate will have to explain why they won’t fund: And I don't think any of the parties wants to "shut down" the government, (not that everything in the entire government would ever stop happening in any case, even for a day) The only thing we want to shut down is ObamaCare.

...without voting.

What's the difference between Al Qaeda, the Republicans and the Democrats?

The Democrats don't want to shut down our government.

This Government is getting just as dysfunctional as the Middle East !

We'll need Israel and the POL to come mediate for the Democrats and Republicans ! These self-defeating idiots can't even keep their government. We will be requesting a loan bailout from the EU at this rate !! Oh, we'll need a co-signer let's ask Greece !! The USA looks so Dumb !! Oh that's right we are !! LOL

I'm just Saying ! That's the way it IS !

The U.S. government will not shut down. I wish it would though, I truly sincerely really wish it would. America needs a new government built from the ground up.

" The Treasury says it will reach its $16.7 trillion borrowing cap by Oct 17…"

" As of September 25, the US Treasury reported its federal debt at $16,699,396,000,000.00 in their daily treasury statement, a figure which has been reported for ## 130 days straight ##, situating spending about $25 billion shy of the legal limit of $16,699,421,095,673.60."

The books have been being cooked rather openly.

As Mr.Obama said, some of these Republicans are just messing with him. These extremist, right wing radical nut cases will do anything to make Mr.Obama look bad, congratulations extremist, right wing, radical Rush Limbaugh loving wackos! Do anything to make Mr.Obama look helpless and do anything at any cost to get your own way, should we be surprised??

The desperate and wasteful spending needs to stop. Clearly Obama's trillions didn't do much so far. I don't care what party or who oppposes continued wasteful spending but I am on board.

For those who believe in the money tree. Wake up!

They are idiots and are shooting at themselves for their next election. The pole that released today indicating most Americans do not want the government shutdown. Also another pole indicating the blame goes to the Radical Tea Party.

We've got to break this cycle, Obama added. My message to Congress is this: do not shut down the government. Do not shut down the economy. Pass a budget on time. Pay our bills on time.

Breaking the cycle would actually be to not increase the debt limit.

Pay our bills on time means to print more money which is really legalized counterfeiting by the FED backed by the Government.

The actual amount earlier this year that the US govt was short when you include unfunded obligations etc was about $T57 which is in reality more significant than the $T17 being talked about. Get ready, there are some very serious problems on the horizon and it will make not one ounce of difference who is in power at the time.
