Progress reversal...? few days back it was reported that Obama is doing nothing but grinding work....?!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

But when the ballots are cast and the voting is done, we need to put this kind of partisanship side — win, lose or draw.

At least the US will be moving forward LoL

the progress of his first two years in office “can be rolled back”

Translation: My "progress" of turning America into a total nanny state where big government dictates every aspect of Americans' lives will be "rolled back".

The president told them they should be protesting at GOP events because “we’re funding global AIDS, and the other side is not.”

Pure nonsense.

If the democrats had ever offered up a bill that specifically called for exclusive funding for global AIDS efforts -- and not a rider on some other piece of "comprehensive" legislation -- he might have a point if the republicans didn't support it. But to date, that hasn't happened.

Warnings about a reversal in progress. Why is Obama such a fear-monger?

This quote is a gem:

“we’re funding global AIDS, and the other side is not.”

He makes Bush sound like poet laureate.

And no, you megalomaniac "progressives" are not funding cures and prevention, the American taxpayer is.

Obama acknowledged the difficulties Democrats face — the distinct chance of losing their comfortable majority in the House and possibly the Senate

The democrats brought this on themselves. Vote for bills that the majority of Americans don't want and enjoy an early retirement.

Ah, but no worries. Those dem politicians who'll be out of work in January can always apply for all those "shovel ready" jobs that Obama, heh, promised everyone existed.

all the progress of his first two years in office “can be rolled back.”

What progress?

All this election has showed is that those in the PR/image/propaganda industry can now pull off anything. Take a country facing a huge economic and financial crisis, and pretend it is a political crisis. Blame the crisis on a politician who showed up after the crisis hit and his party. Eddy Bernays and Joey G. would be very, very impressed.

But no matter how good the PR boys are at their jobs, in the end it won't matter. They won't be able to prevent the inevitable. A Republican win will just speed things up, which maybe is not such a bad thing. Then after the US cleans out the rot and the trash, they can argue if they are a right-wing or left-wing society. That goes for many other countries too.

Obama's "accomplishments" reveals his central flaw: He does not bring a vision of a future U.S.A. that resonates with the American people.

1) After the public bailed out the banks, we saw the same outrageous bonus system on Wall Street. After the melt-down, there is less competition on Wall Street now and bonuses became more obscene. People rightfully resented this. Where was the restraint?

2) Obama brought no vision to Porkulous Maximus that he signed off on. He delegated the job to a democratic-controlled Congress which totally botched the job. Obama's idea of "stimulus" became tax cuts, transfer payments, pork and deferred spending. The public saw it as another example of irresponsible spending, not an investment in the America's future. The term "shovel ready" has now become a punch line.

3) The bail-out of the car companies looked suspiciously like Obama rescuing the unions that helped fund his campaign. Americans making $10 an hour received the opportunity to rescue the jobs of those making $40 an hour.

4) The Barack Hussein Memorial Health Care Scam suffered from lack of vision and lack of execution. Obama - supposedly the world's greatest orator in the history of humankind by some accounts - never outlined his vision for what had to be in the bill. He again delegated that to the democratic-controlled Congress. The result is a mess that does not even begin to address the core issue of rising health care costs; yet another wholesale giveaway without any spending restraints.

The saddest part of all this may be Obama's complete lack of self-awareness. One is left to wonder does it ever occur to him that it is his lack of vision, the unpopularity of his "achievements" and his sloppy execution now leaves the party he leads where they are today; on the brink of getting massive pink slips from We, the American Taxpaying People?

America is in for a meltdown if te GOPtakes back power.

It's a disaster waiting to happen.

The GOP - supposedly led by Boehner, who is 'not a details man' (that's for sure) - want to roll spending on healthcare, social security, infrartucture, environment....

Hello social security cuts, dirtier air for the kids to breathe, rolled back healthcare benefits, and even more money in the pockets of the GOP's elte backers.

RomeoRomen, Sarge, and the rest can be proud, real proud.

But it's not a done deal yet...

By reading ths thread, it appears the Right's desire to finish the job they started under bush to wreck the economy is reaching fever pitch.

Hello social security cuts, dirtier air for the kids to breathe, rolled back healthcare benefits, and even more money in the pockets of the GOP's elte backers.

Who, exactly, are the GOP's elite backers? Why can't people like you never name them?

Me, I like to rely on facts, easily verifiable, even by people who have never been to our fine nation:

"...the Democrats have the support of more, and more active, billionaires. Of the 20 richest ZIP codes in America, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, 19 gave the bulk of their money to Democrats in the last election. "All this election [2008] has showed is that those in the PR/image/propaganda industry can now pull off anything."

That is probably the only truly accurate assessment of modern US politics I have seen from a non-American. But then the hype was so overheated the whole world couldn't have helped noticing it. And in a few days they will hear and witness the great deflating of Obama's massive ego as well. Can't wait.

RR, that irked his base a bit-- and independents-- that saw his bailouts as systematic of how things are driven in Washington.

The bail-out of the car companies looked suspiciously like Obama rescuing the unions that helped fund his campaign. Americans making $10 an hour received the opportunity to rescue the jobs of those making $40 an hour.

Pfffft... please it's the Republicans calling the kettle black, wasn't McCAIN (and more) a supporter of the multi-billion dollar AUTO-BAILOUT too?

REMEMBER THIS...

"Well, we’ve already done that to $25 billion, and we’ve delayed getting them the money. I would do whatever I think needs to be done to help our automotive industry. We’ve got to make this transition to flex fuel, battery powered, hydrogen automobiles. And, obviously — and, also, I would provide tax credits for people who buy these new automobiles. We’ve got to keep this industry alive. There’s no doubt about that. "

AND ANOTHER ONE...

"We are not going to leave the workers here in Michigan hung out to dry while we give billions of taxpayer dollars to Wall Street," McCain said during brief remarks to reporters at the plant. "It's time we get our auto industry back on its feet. "

OH, AND WASN'T SARA PALIN WITH McCAIN during his tour of MICHIGAN to gather the auto workers' vote?

OBAMA should have projected an image of freshness and credibility during the mid-term, yet dogged by the issue of incumbency and trust. It's an odd world, and we can postulate all we like.

ANYWAYS... Latest CBS/ NYT poll points to a comfortable win for the Reps. Nevada's Harry REID will lose out to new face Sharron ANGLE but the Dems will likely retain the Senate leadership.

"He said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky “said his main goal after this election is simply to win the next one.”

Which is exactly why the tea party is doomed even if it gets some people elected. Unless Mitch gets some big gains for bubba from Kentucky in the form of jobs or aids or a tax holiday, bubba is going to be throwing mud or something else at the next rally. You see, the tea party message has always been that "the problem with Merika is big gubment." Now they can play pork barrel politics and help their constituency and win the next election OR, they can note first-hand how people vote with their wallets. They have been hoisted up on their own petard, and it will be quite a spectacle. I predict humiliation because clearly, there are no brains to the operation, and none has a plan. And who is going to help them? The GOP? Ha! Fat chance. I know who....

Billionaires are supporting the tea party so that they can get what they want. And they will certainly try. Then they will deflect the tea party rage at some new target or just let them flop around like fish out of water.

I think the Dems are going to do better than they think they will. One or two tea partiers in the House and Senate will bring a little comic relief, but that is about it. Cutting Social Security is a non-starter, lol. I wonder what O'Donnell would propose for a new sin tax.

And guys guys... calling Obama a failure for this election is just plain stupid. First, it ain't over yet. Second, this is NOTHING compared to what FDR went through at mid-term elections before becoming the only pres elected to FOUR terms. Third, he is not running for anything. The only people who think Congress and Obama are the same thing are tea partiers, and relying on them for perspective is, well, questionable. And fourth. Wait for it. One word: veto.

Back to reality, whiners. You all enjoy your majority, if you can get it. You go shout to repeal social security and howl at the moon for slashing programs. Obama will let you put that in a nice package and then read it to the American people. He will chuckle a little about "progress reversal". And then it is veto city. Basically, (watch your time line) a GOP led congress would get ONE chance before election 2012. Good luck with that. You go call him a failure, but he is your only chance to pass your legislation. Remember? Think about that before bed tonight. And sweet dreams.

I am not an American but Obama has sure shrunk from the lime light since taking office. He is nothing like Clinton was for all the right reasons rather than wrong ones. I think the world has fallen out from under his spell since they realize he is not the miracle beast or anti Christ as spoken about in revelations.

Sad to watch the politics of hate and stupidity winning. Americans can't deal with reality so are reverting to memories of the past. Eventually when China starts revoking the American loans we're going to see a lot of angry people being told to wake up and pay their bills.

They can't. And will never do so. Interesting that in another article it noted a failure of ambition in the decline of Japanese youth. But we see the same thing in the USA where only billionaires and millionaires are allowed to run for office while they export their neighbours jobs to China. Where did the American spirit go? Sold for $1.99

You see, the tea party message has always been that "the problem with Merika is big gubment." Its reality. Dems control both houses of congress and the White House. While the Tea Party might be able to help Republicans win back the House, the Senate is a lot more difficult. The seats up for grabs this year, are mostly Dem strongholds. Republicans will grab at least 5, with several more certain. However even if they took every single seat up for election this year, they still wouldn't have enough votes to override a Presidential veto. In 2012 though, assuming the Dems are stupid enough to stick with Obama, it will be a Republican President taking control. Lot easier to rollback Obama care and other Dem stupidity that ordinary Americans hate.

Of course what they can do, is simply not appropriate money for various government programs. Things like the IRS hiring 20000 new agents. Or with Obamacare creating over 100 new agencies. All they have to do is not appropriate money for any of the agencies. No money, no Obamacare. If Obama wants to veto the budget because of that, well they can shut it down and put it on him. Worked pretty well against Clinton. Of course Clinton wised up and compromised. Worked with Republicans and got things done. I don't think Obama can handle doing that. He is too much of an ideologue.

Billionaires are supporting the tea party so that they can get what they want. And they will certainly try. Then they will deflect the tea party rage at some new target or just let them flop around like fish out of water.

Interesting. I guess we should ignore the fact that Billionaires are supporting the Dems and their socialist agenda? Oh we should definitely ignore the fact that unions give total support to the Dems.

Sad to watch the politics of hate and stupidity winning. Americans can't deal with reality so are reverting to memories of the past. Eventually when China starts revoking the American loans we're going to see a lot of angry people being told to wake up and pay their bills.

Did you see the comedy central rally? You know, where the people brought signs having Republicans with hitler mustaches, or vile anti-women slurs on them. The politics of hate and stupidity are being pushed back here. Oh, and for the record, anyone who pushes class envy as a political tactic is using hate and fear. Thats the Dems. That is their primary method of tricking people to vote for them. Republicans are against racism and bigotry, and based on the signs at that pro-dem rally, I'd have to say if you support the Dems, you support racism, bigotry, and hatred.

Obama hate train out in full force

America is dying. But unlike Japan, it is seeking hate and more hate and re-entering a self inflicted McCarthyism as all of Molenir's comments exemplify. Socialism and Liberals and Left are all terms to placate and stifle conversation. That is sad and not good for the world if a Communist China is all there is to a stable and prosperous nation.

Other that watching and reveling in Americans tearing themselves apart, when will Americans stand up for themselves and shake off the hate as noted on this thread? What happened?

Freedom of Speech became Freedom of Hate with no one caring to know the difference.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Reading here and noting the escalating hate of America lately, if this is not addressed by 2012 I would not be surprised if America went Nazi. Hail Leader mentality is all that remains. But it's already seen here, the not-to-be-questioned dream world, and their various wars.

As education has taught us, hate is easy, working is hard. The choice will be, will Americans take the easy way out and increase their hatred? Or work against it and rise up against the corporations who profit from their control?

Not looking good.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

and based on the signs at that pro-dem rally, I'd have to say if you support the Dems, you support racism, bigotry, and hatred

I've seen pictures of the hundreds of signs posted at several websites and if any of them supported racism, bigotry or hatred they must have been from someone not associated with the rally. Perhaps you can quote one of the signs with the "vile, anti-woman slurs" on them...

I don't believe such a sign existed at this tremendously good-natured and successful rally.

Stewart put it perfectly in his eloquent closing speech, with a subtle jab at the spirit of Glenn Beck's messages: "These are tough times; not end times."

Other that watching and reveling in Americans tearing themselves apart, when will Americans stand up for themselves and shake off the hate as noted on this thread?

The people spouting the hate reveal themselves when they stomp on a woman's head and get charged with assault -- as they should. As one of the signs at the Stewart-Colbert rally aptly stated: "I may disagree with you, but I won't stomp on your head."

It's always when times are tough that you'll find demagogues like Beck spouting apocalyptic rhetoric. It's better they reveal themselves for what they are.

Please note, that Nazism, required centralized government authority. Something the left promotes and encourages, while the right is fighting against it. So if you are going to make the nazism call, realize, it will only be made possible, by the loons on the left, who espouse hatred of all who dare disagree with them. Almost all of the hate speech you see and hear, is coming from the left. Thats all they've got.

Not sure if I can post links anymore. They sorta cracked down on that awhile back. If I can, then the link below will go through. Otherwise just check drudge, he is currently hosting some links with pictures to the signs in question.

The people spouting the hate reveal themselves when they stomp on a woman's head and get charged with assault -- as they should.

lol, a guy loses it, and as you say is rightly charged with assault, and you claim this is proof? Would you like me to point to the extremely numerous examples of violence on the other side? There is very little coming from Dems other then hatred and violence. Having trouble believing me? Check out Ken Gladry, or the gal who was beaten after the Republican rally awhile back by Dem thugs. Except it took em 6 months to actually prosecute the guys in the Gladry case, and I don't think the thugs who attacked the woman, were ever charged.

I'm really getting bored with the sensitive, oppressed right-winger nonsense. It would be nice if people could stick to the issues instead of having to pull out the "who-hates-who more" paranoia. But then the whole point of the pushing the paranoia is to make sure that the issues never get dealt with in the first place.

Divide and conquer, same as always.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Otherwise just check drudge, he is currently hosting some links with pictures to the signs in question.

I've seen the one picture that Drudge posted with the Republicans with Hitler moustaches. The people holding the signs are wearing masks so their identities can not be determined.

Here is what is strange about it, and I'd like you to explain this to me: The building shown in the background of the picture is the Jefferson Memorial. Stewart's rally was held a half-mile away at the National Mall. So how can the signs represent attendees of the rally?

One of the first bills in the next Congressional session will be to increase the federal debt limit again.

That's when the American people will see if this new crop of "conservatives" will block any such legislation in the House -- and completely shut down the government. (While still drawing their salaries, mind you.)

Nice comment GJDailleult. Indeed without hate, what would they do? Work?

Ironic that America used to be known for its work ethic and getting the respect one deserves through hard work. While their politicians and CEO's do their utmost to sell out their neighbours for an extra buck. It would appear they sold their citizenship to become only consumers. Since consumers have no obligations or responsibilities this just increases the problems.

Back to work for me. Sorry to read about America collapsing inwards. We could have really used the help in tackling bigger social issues, including world population. America has a birth rate higher than some 3rd world countries, so it makes it difficult to tell others indignantly what to do when its no better and in fact much worse. Had it identified it as a major issue and politely considered lowering the immigrant importation while subtracting from racist overtones, there might have been an opportunity to help the world too. Alas no.

It looks like there will once again be a tragedy to wake people up. Another of America's dark sides held in check for now. But how much longer?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama thought he was the guy who'd prove Lincoln wrong and fool all of the people, all of the time.

Super majorities in the House and Senate and The Lapdog Media in his pocket and he still couldn't do it.

Looking back on his presidency it is safe to say future historians will marvel at the staggering amount of political capital and goodwill this man squandered.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

With such a conclusion as that, there is no reason for anyone to ever take you seriously, ever again.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

MisterCreosote

while I disagree that Obama's mantra was to purposely play people as a fool, (as opposed to Bush?) I can certainly otherwise agree with the comments regarding the loss of the amazing available political capital. If ever there was a time to have a plan, and connect with the public, that was it. Connecting with bankers was really dumb and explains well the backlash against him.

Actually I think John Stewart and loads of others hit on the idea. Why bail out the banks directly if you instead bail out the homeowners instead who then pay the banks indirectly? Thus the banking system is still alive and the public is involved and don't have to pay twice. Once in your taxes and twice for the bill. Or some such rationale. That could have worked, could have had a threshold for who qualified and all that, but would have been at least somewhat positive. Would have brought forward that Suburbia is a clear failure and that a new re-localization and a PLAN to get Americans back to work could have born fruit together not separately.

Although his education platform was good unfortunately it got next to zero coverage. Overall though Obama is a good example of how fickle the American public is when it does not see results. H. W. Bush experienced that after Gulf War I. Up against a tanking economy he lost. Similarly now, by losing the connection with people and not seeing through the banks, that was a real indicator for me as an outsider observer of Obama's downfall.
