Draw your own conclusions from this.

The people arguing that since guns can’t be eliminated 100%, they should be allowed unrestricted, come from the same places that refuse to wear masks. They’re also dying of Covid at the highest rates. All of these are connected to a broken way of thinking.

17 cops shot since WWII. Wow. Says a lot about gun control.
Luddite
This is shocking.

That this makes international news is a testament to the sense behind strict gun laws.

lt’s Centre.
Condolences to the family.
As Bob Fosse points out, it’s testimony to the sense of having sane gun laws that this kind of incident is rare enough in the UK to make international news.
Strangerland
Maybe it was an illegal gun.
PTownsend
Hats off to the UK for long having such sensible laws. Not surprising the pro-gun extremists continue making the unreasonable argument that if laws that restrict gun ownership can't eliminate all deaths, then there shouldn't be any restrictions on guns. Not surprising too that those born to troll and getting paid to do so by their 'foreign' state are using this senseless murder to further fan flames.
Jimizo
Awful. Guns are filth.

Croydon is the second most crime infested borough in London-fact!

The shooter’s hands were handcuffed behind his back. He was stopped by a couple of specials out on patrol, searched and class B drugs and ammunition found. He was taken to the custody centre and Sgt Ratana, as the custody sergeant, went in the holding cell to finish the search using a metal detector. The shooter was able to get to a gun hidden on his body and shoot the sergeant in the chest. Turns out the murderer is on the terrorism watch list.

"The way I read it someone else entered the police station, shot the officer and the suspect. Correct me if I am mistaken but that is how I read it."
That's wrong.
I have already posted a link with the real story.
Pls, see above.

Was already, correction

Well, if he was carrying bullets when he was arrested, that does indicate a further search. It turns out to have been a revolver, non Police issue, according to news sources such as Sky. Two shots, one at the sergeant and one at himself, already suggested a multiple-round weapon, despite the typical frustrating lack of detail in the mass media.

The way I read it someone else entered the police station, shot the officer and the suspect. Correct me if I am mistaken but that is how I read it.

"Wasn't the suspect searched before being locked up?"
Obviously not properly.
And this article's headline must/should be rectified for it's misleading to say the least.
"Man kills police officer even though he was already inside the police holding cell", is more appropriate.
Or "Police negligence leads to officer's death inside the station".

"That this makes international news is a testament to the sense behind strict gun laws."
Wrong,
It's news mainly because the "suspect" as already behind bars when he gunned down the copper:
"Brunt added: "He was brought to Croydon, and at around two o'clock this morning, he was taken into the custody suite and put into a holding cell which is normal procedure."
"At one point, the officer who died, opened the door to the cell to do two things.
"To get personal details of the suspect, but also to go through some COVID-19 procedures, which are mandatory for anybody who's brought into the custody suite.
"And it was at that point that the weapon was produced by the suspect and fired at the officer."

Heads MUST roll after this!

There must be some mistake with this story, it's ILLEGAL to privately own a hand gun in Britain.

Croydon is a violent area at the best of times
