"A bird never craps in its own nest."

Something my grandma used to say to me.

hold on China blames outsiders for interfering in Hong Kong and certain people dismiss them.

Now these same people blame outsiders for the riots in the US and were meant to believe them. LOL

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Might seem a simple question but why would these outside groups - variously described as vague, unconfirmed, anecdotal - not create mayhem in their own towns and cities?  Sounds a lot to me like people are taking a leaf out of someone else's book and claiming "I take no responsibility at all".  Easy cop out which avoids the difficult questions.  Blame it on some unknown shadowy force that can neither be proved or disproved.

So are they saying that it's ok to burn and loot as long as you can provide a local residence?

0 ( +7 / -7 )

The truth will slowly emerge that those causing and stoking violence are the same pro-Trump violent armed gangs that were terrorizing our cities over the past few weeks.

They just put down their AR15s and Confederate flags and donned a new wardrobe...

Trump and his supporters are just channeling Nixon in 1968 - say you are for law and order, while at the same time fermenting violence with your own thugs and goons, to blame on your political opponents.

Expect more "let the dogs loose" and "looting starts, the shooting starts" tweets...

Have to distract from those 100K deaths and 41 million unemployed...with both numbers going up daily...

Watching live on CNN. I see black, white, hispanic faces in the actual protests. When it comes to the looting and damaging property, it's 90% black people and 10% other.

Exactly.

Don't believe me, watch online. It has nothing to do with being tired of police injustice or black men being gunned down/killed. It's opportunism. They are so sick and tired and have no voice, so break into Adidas store and steal 5 pairs of shoes. Burn down a liquor store. Targeted opportunism. I can't wait for the National Guard troops to start gifting them with live rounds.

This is the problem that so many of the leaders in liberals states and cites are afraid to address. No one is mentioning the people who’s lives are completely destroyed and who lost businesses because of these rioters and agitators, they ask you to understand their rage, be compassionate, so if some small business gets destroyed in the madness, it’s justified in their minds, these people will either relocate or close entirely and you will have another Detroit or South Central.

Judging by the videos uploaded on YouTube, it would seem not.

In Minneapolis where this all started. The local Mayor attempted to defuse the situation with pleads to the people to protest peacefully. Then attempted to control the massive crowds with local police who were exponentially outnumbered. The police used only non-lethal means and quickly lost control the first night. The second night was handled much the same way with the state and city leaders simply pleading with people to be civil. Local police were literally told to abandon their precinct, fleeing out the back. The police station fell with rioters marching out of the PD with police gear as trophies. Many blocks burned after business numbing in the hundreds were looted and vandalized. Being emboldened with their previous nights success the rioters grew in numbers. City leaders issued a curfew, which was ignored by the protestors. The city attempted to only protect fire teams during the night as they worked to extinguish the fires. Another massive night of looting and vandalism. Tonight it was completely different, day started out with very peaceful protests. Many of the protesters choose to stay past the curfew. But tonight with thousands of uniformed highly organized officers and armed National Guard, the protestors were out matched. Public transit shut down, freeways into the city closed. Very little of the protestors were allowed to turn into rioters. They were quickly pushed out and/or rounded up and arrested.

There were certainly outsiders involved, but don’t be fooled this was primarily Minnesotans doing this to their own communities. It only takes a small number to take the lead and turn protests into looting and vandalism. Good people can go bad quickly when shown there are no apparent consequences. Its obvious the vast majority in the community did not want this and are distraught over the destruction of most if not all of their community businesses. Going to take years to rebuild.

The only way this can be stopped without loss of life, or use of lethal rounds is with a massive Police presence at the start. Other cities in the US must not allow the protests to turn into riots and by all means do not allow them to get the upper hand.

@zombienemisis

Well said, spot on. I couldn’t agree more.

wow.

never miss an opportunity to blame Trump.

Look at the picture provided. Do those look like pro Trump folks?

0 ( +8 / -8 )

“It’s ANTIFA and the Radical Left. Don’t lay the blame on others!” Trump tweeted.

Trump protecting his white supremacist devotees.

Attorney General William Barr later seemed to echo Trump's assertion

It is rather disturbing that the head of the Justice Department would make such accusations and provide little evidence to back that up.....if that doesn't call into question all of Barr's actions, I don't know what does.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

It's the end of the trump presidency.

Fascism will not triumph.

Exactly.

Other cities watched and learned. Atlanta enacted a curfew, and show by force. The violent protesters actually shot themselves in the foot, both now and foreseeable future because this will likely be protocol on how to deal with this nonsense in the future; never go soft with this kind of event, if you do, it will end up in a disaster.

LF initially went soft, giving them a chance at the 1st admend. and peaceful protest, but the protesters, being an un-legit bunch of domestic terrorist that they are, took the ball and played some more by burning and looting. Then LF came out in force, and absolutely nothing was accomplished by all of this. Nothing. It enabled LF more, who have the power and authority to crush it.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

It may be fun to blame President Trump for these protests and riots. Its understandable if you want to blame the US President. This is certainly a breakdown in leadership. Minnesota’s Governor is a progressive liberal. The mayor of Minneapolis is a progressive liberal. The Minneapolis city council members are progressive. The Minneapolis police chief is a black man. The state and the city are lead by the people the citizens elected. They are the people they wanted to lead them. By law, the state governor and the mayors of the cities involved decide who and how to deploy forces within the state. If the governor wanted help from feds he could have asked. President Trump did not hire or train the police involved in the death of George Floyd. Minneapolis officials did. President Trump did not choose how to manage the protests, the Minnesota Governor and Minneapolis mayor did.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

never go soft with this kind of event, if you do, it will end up in a disaster.

Agreed.

Get all cops, corrupt or otherwise, to hand in their guns and badges.

“a nation born out of genocide, built on slavery, and sustained by a system which places minorities firmly behind their white counterparts in every significant socioeconomic measurement“

3 ( +5 / -2 )

The problem is not the "outsiders". The problem is the insiders; the politicians and bureaucrats who lowered standards for police officer hiring and training and the cops themselves who love their impunity, their paramilitary gear and their unconstitutional, violence escalating practices such as no-knock raids and general harassment of the public.

There are no good cops but for a few days when one decides to blow a whistle then that good cop is quickly sacked and becomes a pariah. The worst of the worst cops generally get fired and just get a new cop job in the next county. What we have are bad cops and worse cops and the protesters from other places are protesting the entire national bad cop tragedy.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@Zombie,

Yes, those progressive mayors governors etc were very soft at the beginning of all this, allowed their precinct bldg to burn, even appearing to side with the protesters, however as they proved to be a self destructive force, they realized their mistake, even one seeming to agree with Trump.

It has nothing to do with Trump, it has everything to do with a disgruntled individual, perhaps he was racist, perhaps employed in a dysfunctional dept., perhaps internal strife/politics; a breakdown of leadership. Maybe an environment where people saw problems, but were too scared to speak up (very common today). All those things should be looked at, a transparent audit done, and those responsible, held accountable. a post account lessons learned white paper. The citizens deserve it.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Get all cops, corrupt or otherwise, to hand in their guns and badges.

Americans were never told there was a time when there were no cops and the first police force was established for the express purpose of catching run away slaves. We don't them. We have the second amendment and we can police ourselves. Our cops are worse than any disease they are meant to cure.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Trump has lost it all. His government is crashing down all around him.

No, it didn’t, the people that are tearing up the streets are ruining it for their communities, that’s on them, the economy is re-opening, prospects look very good for the 3rd quarter, poll ratings still holding steady, he terminated our relationship with WHO, he’s looking pretty good at the moment.

Covid-19. Economic collapse. 40 million unemployed and struggling. Protests and riots.

People will die, that was already fractured in, unemployment would be worse had these governors not allowed the country to re-open, the riots will stop, but unfortunately for the people in these communities, life will never return to normal again.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

@ZombieNemesis and Benjamin Weinmann

White people loot all the time; have been for hundreds of years, only they call it 'discovering' or 'protecting artifacts.' Sometimes they even charge you to see what they stole.

Or they just do it to simply celebrate winning or losing a sport event!

4 ( +9 / -5 )

@Benjamin Weinmann

So are they saying that it's ok to burn and loot as long as you can provide a local residence?

This wasn't the only rude thing that you posted, but to answer your question.

How does looting, rioting and destroying property bring justice for anyone?

Idk but they tried peacefully kneeling, and you all had a problem with that too!

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Silva read...then re read it again

“The moment has passed. Go home, stay away from here. We are a vulnerable population. At the end of that day if black folks can’t rebuild then the only thing we’ve done is build more power for white folks," said Terrell. "You’re talking about years, decades of work undone by these groups -- and by the officer.”

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Idk but they tried peacefully kneeling, and you all had a problem with that too!

Yes, when I’m paying my hard earned money to watch a game and you protest? Do that on your on time, when I pay a lot of money to see a game, I don’t care about your personal politics. Do what you’re paid to do, please play the game.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

@bass

People will die, that was already fractured in, unemployment would be worse had these governors not allowed the country to re-open, the riots will stop, but unfortunately for the people in these communities, life will never return to normal again.

Then don' try to scream "All Lives Matter' a week after you begged for Applebees to open because "only old people die from the Coronavirus!"

3 ( +6 / -3 )

They dont want your help or need it. Your "help" bring problems. Destroy then leave. What did you accomplish?

Wow....profound.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

If possible try to think about that.

The protesters came. destroyed. The owner of that store, generations of work. Did the protester apologize?

"Sir, Im sorry I was in my feelings, and destroyed your shop"

"Im broke, no job, but I wish you the best"

Selfish on a psychotic level.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Like, Im trying to process it

They destroyed all that property. The next day, the owner, has to look at it, and think

"what for?"

"what did I do to you?"

"will you pay me back?"

"for what?"

"where are you now?"

Im not even involved but I would like an explanation

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@Silvafan

"White people loot all the time"

The rioting and looting in South Minneapolis is certainly being done by people of all races. Never ment to imply that some of the looters were not white or that they were all or even primarily black. What they were is primarily young. Average age likely early 20s. Likely bored, likely unemployed due to the COVID-19 shutdowns, likely stressed from the "Stay at home" orders. Its been a cruel series of events pushing people over the edge.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

@Bass

You was not saying that when the white protesters were protesting blocking traffic, daily government, and commerce operations in Michigan because somebody wanted to get a haircut. You also complained about athletes were protesting when they were not on the field.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Do what you’re paid to do, please play the game.

So you are saying they should stop singing the anthem on the field?

I don't think we will ever agree on much, but we might have some agreement there. Fake patriotism always contains an element of worship of authorities, which is exactly what bringing the players on the field from 2009 was meant to accomplish. Worship of authorities is a very anti-American idea and was traditionally frowned upon with good reason. And worship of cops (and others) is a big factor in how their power has corrupted them and brought us to cops who murder and citizens who riot.

Colin Kaepernick is a true patriot. Its sad your biggest issue is watching a true patriot protest fascism in America while the DOD pushes fascism on the country. Did you even know there was a time when there was no single anthem and people were free to sing really patriotic songs like "America the Beautiful" rather than a war hymn?

More nonsensical logic!

African Americans don't destroy their communities during riots. They destroy the parasitic stores that populate their communities owned by absentee landlords and immigrants that don't hire them. Those stores that sell drug paraphernalia, alcohol that their religion forbids, and sub standard food stuffs usually with a bad attitude toward their customers.

Most if not all racial riots in Black communities were perpetrated by Whites until the 1960's( that means only 50 years of Black riots compared to 350 years of White riots). Prosperous Black communities were particular targets because of jealousy and racism. Most Black riots in the sixties were inspired by the unfair death of some Black person like today. White media in the typical racist manner would associate the White riot with the summer heat. There would be looting and burning of the Black business communities. Blacks could not get loans to open most businesses. The ones they could open without much financial backing were barber shops, beauty parlors, cheap restaurants, convenience stores and liquor stores for foreigners and immigrants.

The powers that be don't care if you destroy your own neighborhoods. Your reality, their entertainment. Why has not a single, solitary soul thought about taking the fight to the wealthy part of town?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Yes there are anarchists, white supremacists, basic criminal elements who think they're gettin back at the law, and other groups that want to escalate the situation to mass scale riots. There are going to be those who WANT to start trouble.

In my state (not Minnesota) there were protests for what happened in Minneapolis. And then suddenly there was a curfew alert issued by the mayor of my city, followed by the Governer calling in the national guard. Why did this happen? 19 people were arrested for burglary, aggravated assault, and firearms violations trying to start riots here using the protests as a springboard. 3 of those arrested with firearm violations were carrying assault rifles.

@Seth

The powers that be don't care if you destroy your own neighborhoods. Your reality, their entertainment. Why has not a single, solitary soul thought about taking the fight to the wealthy part of town?

(1)You need a lot of people to riot and destroy a neighborhood. It would be extremely difficult to organize a riot and transport everyone to another neighborhood without the police stopping it first.

(2)By the time everyone gets there, tempers will have cooled

(3)In an unfamiliar neighborhood, there is no local support. Without a home base you can not regroup or refresh. It is also much harder to run away from or avoid the police when you have no sympathetic local base that will host you.

(4)People who riot are angry at the world around them. That is represented by their neighborhood. Not a strange one

(5)It is a lot safer and easier to arrange a riot on your own street corner. If you try arranging a riot in a different neighborhood the logistics involved in doing so pretty much guarantee that the police will ultimately catch you and leave you behind bars for many years to come.

The answer given above is true of all communities who riot. I’m not singling out any particular group

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You was not saying that when the white protesters were protesting blocking traffic, daily government, and commerce operations in Michigan because somebody wanted to get a haircut.

You are right and I would have taken the same position had they gone on a rampage looting and vandalism spree as well.

You also complained about athletes were protesting when they were not on the field

Yes, I pay to watch them play, not protest.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

The Minnesota Auto Zone was first attacked by a white guy

Not just A white guy, the entire place was looted, I seriously doubt the guy could have taken it all..

He wasn't black and wasn't from the area

The guy doesn’t know that, I’m sure that guy doesn’t know every single person living in Minnesota.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

This is a huge problem for Democrats as they cannot say anything that would in any way be seen as negative to their base of leftist voters. So instead they have to invent an unknown boogeyman.

Even when it is obvious that these are Antifa members, the liberal media will support the narrative.

The restraint shown by the Michigan protesters is even more commendable by now.
