That can't be correct, Donny promised to keep us out of foreign problems. He has no credibility issues, so we can take what he says straight to bankruptcy court.

Donny sure seems like he's poking the Iran thing to whip up patriotic support for a president in a crisis. It also serves as a distraction from the constitutional crisis he's created domestically.

The number one source of unrest in the Middle East is the U.S.A. Are they going to do another Iraq?

14 ( +18 / -4 )

Tension had been rising with Iran for more than a year.

Trump and his war mongers are largely the ones creating them. And where exactly are these troops going, besides "the region?"

Trump has already done more harm to our nation than Iran ever has.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

What did Iran ever do to the USA ? Who in the past attacked Iran and murdered some of their scientists ? --- Israel.

In Trump's own words 12/1/16

We will pursue a new foreign policy that finally learns from the mistakes of the past. We will stop looking to topple regimes and overthrow governments. Our goal is stability not chaos.

In our dealings with other countries we will seek shared interests where-ever possible and pursue a new era of peace, understanding and goodwill.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

So much for staying out of the region... How many young lives is the rich draft dodger prepared to sacrifice in order to placate Bolton and deflect from domestic trouble?

Despite the despicable regime, Iran has kept to the deal.

It is the warmongering Trump junta who have gone back on it.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Counter Iran from what?... Existence?

Iran's only crime is that it is a stable functioning Islamic country that is progressing in science and technology.

Take it up with your boy, Donny. You know, the guy you are constantly cheering. He's the one who created this situation and ordered the assets to the region.

He has to threaten WAR, Israel demands it.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Trump has surrounded himself with people who have been clamoring for war with Iran for years. God save us all.

Iran needs to put fighter jets and aircraft carriers in the gulf of mexico, Canada, and Mexico to show the us what it feels like...then complain and blame the US for escalation.

Iran first needs an aircraft carrier to do this.

President Donald Trump told reporters Friday

something that he'll say the opposite of later on and then flip-flop on that, then whine the 'media' are out to get him, getting Sarah Sanders, Fox'news', RT, Breitbart and other right wing, authoritarian story pushers to help him.

The sabre-rattling, be it Iran, North Korea, Venezuela or any of the 80 other places around the world where the US military is involved and engaged keeps fear alive in the minds of the US population that's been sheepled for decades believing that some 'other', some 'them' is threatening their existence.

That fear is part of the PR effort long used by the military-industrial complex so that taxpayers will accept paying more to support the big war industries - and the big war CEOs can make their US$100million+ salaries.

The US economy has stayed strong because of military spending. Trump's electoral support requires spending more on the military to keep the economy strong so he, the neo-cons and the .01% can maintain their wealth and power.

The arms sales to the UAE and Saudi Arabia are an example of this. In addition to the government subsidizing big war industries, it's also subsidizing big oil.

Where there are no tension , US government will create one to feed it warmonger hunger.

US government will lies, cheat, by hook or by crook they will create an excuse to go to WAR in the Middle East.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

I hope the Middle East beefs up forces to repel the war machine. Mebbe send ships to US waters to push for regime change.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Apart from the oil, Trump's position isn't looking too good. Nothing like a war to get support! Especially with an election on the horizon. Worked for Bush!

Lolololololololololoololololololol

Trumpo cultists are suspiciously quiet after the blatant wreaking of the campaign promises. None of that 6 billion D trust the flan garbage. Trumpo is the swamp personified. Does Congress actually do anything? What's it's purpose if anyone can just unilaterally wage war?

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan

The above picture of Shanahan is a reminder of the links between the Department of Defense and big war industries like Boeing's military corporations. Boeing will see increased profits with Shanahan a key member of the Trump administration. Shanahan will get richer as his Boeing shares increase in value. Has anyone seen Trump's financial info to see if he's invested in Boeing - or other big war industries? How about Trump's neo-cons like Pompeo and Bolton?

Congress MUST step in and prohibit an illegal unwarranted war with Iran. And they must impeach him - this constitutional crisis MUST be ended.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Trump should at least have a conversation with the leadership in Iran before making his final decision. Sure, he has information from his intelligence agencies, but maybe the Iranians can convince him otherwise if they are very sincere.

The US knows its global domination is slipping and this is no more than face saving; face saving that will cost thousands of lives. Are the nations of the world going to allow this? How many of the US lapdogs (Western allies) are going to sacrifice their people to support the US and its push to maintain world domination?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Great. So now we have more hardware and troops in the area and more tension. Was that the goal from the beginning?

Not even Trump fans can tell me what Trump is trying to do here.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump's position isn't looking too good. Nothing like a war to get support! Especially with an election on the horizon. Worked for Bush!

It also tanked him and the GOP, but Trump historically has never been a fan of wars

He called the Iraq War the "single biggest mistake in our history" - so why's he repeating it? And why did he hire Neocon John Bolton?

and based on multiple intel reports of Iran targeting US interests

The same intel agencies he so consistently criticizes and says are wrong?

“They are wrong!” he wrote in early-morning tweets. “Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!”

since now the sanctions are really hurting the Iranians as a retaliatory tactic as a show of force and to respond the US is sending a very strong message to the Iranians, and there is nothing wrong with that, absolutely nothing.

Trump didn't think so in 2016 - see above...

but to show military force and to threaten an adversary can be a very good deterrent.

And get a bunch of people killed for nothing - Donnie should go back and listen to himself in 2016...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

No, unlike liberals that believe in duck and hide, most Trump supporters don’t want a war at all, but understand and stand by the President for not allowing Iran to remotely think they can just push us around.

Hilarious that you excoriate Obama for not getting us out of Afghanistan, for getting us out of Iraq, for getting us into Syria, and floor not getting us into Crimea; yet you praise Donny for almost everything he does.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Once bomb start falling and thousands of people are dying then liberals can get into a panic, but to show military force and to threaten an adversary can be a very good deterrent.

I'm impressed that you're in favor of Iran threatening the Great Satan. It probably is a good deterrent. I'd draw the line at wishing bombs falling on innocent US citizens, mind.

Burning bush:

The media is pro-war - both left and right. They are all owned by a handful of elites who benefit from such.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The mainstream media hates Trump.

Unless he's willing to start a war on Israel's behalf.

Then it's all Ra-Ra America.

Why isn't the American media doing anything to stop this coming war?

Youre blaming the media for what your boy Donny is doing. Why won't you criticize Donny? You criticize American for Donny's actions, but refuse to hold him accountable.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Know-nothing Trump with John Bolton in his ear along with others talking about stubbornly low approval ratings .

This could end very badly but his supporters will justify it.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

How dare Iran put their country over our oil!

Seriously though, I don't want to see the U.S. drawn into a war with Iran.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Know-nothing Trump with John Bolton in his ear along with others talking about stubbornly low approval ratings .

I keep telling y'all Bolton is on a tight leash.

This could end very badly but his supporters will justify it.

If Trump orders an unprovoked attack on Iran he immediately loses my support. I don't think that will happen.

Trump should at least have a conversation with the leadership in Iran before making his final decision. Sure, he has information from his intelligence agencies, but maybe the Iranians can convince him otherwise if they are very sincere.

I would tend to agree.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The reason American gave for supporting the barbaric Saudi was "it's the oil stupid!" But if America is now oil independent when why does it continue to support that country?

Such a smart guy as you should understand the power of the petrodollar.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

He called the Iraq War the "single biggest mistake in our history" - so why's he repeating it? And why did he hire Neocon John Bolton?

Nothing happened yet, relax. No war, no one died yet.

The same intel agencies he so consistently criticizes and says are wrong?

Could be, people change and not everyone that was in the Bush administration is there now and besides, we have no idea what the Pentagon knows, so relax....nothing you can do anyway, even if you insult Trump, he’ll never hear it. Lol

“They are wrong!” he wrote in early-morning tweets. “Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school!”

Prove it? Naw, you guys can’t.

Trump didn't think so in 2016 - see above...

It’s 2019 now, not 2016.

And get a bunch of people killed for nothing - Donnie should go back and listen to himself in 2016...

Sadly, in war people die, you’ll always have that. But still nice nothing happened, no need to worry and that’s what soldiers do, they take orders and fight wars and some will die. No one wants that, but they all know that when they sign up, it’s the same for journalists that go to a war zone. We know the dangers, Kidnappings, getting shot or worse and we still take the assignments.

What are the erm, ‘alternative news’ takes on this situation

Why do you care? You’ll reject it anyway.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Apart from the oil,

We’re energy independent now, so not really.

Trump's position isn't looking too good. Nothing like a war to get support! Especially with an election on the horizon. Worked for Bush!

It also tanked him and the GOP, but Trump historically has never been a fan of wars and based on multiple intel reports of Iran targeting US interests since now the sanctions are really hurting the Iranians as a retaliatory tactic as a show of force and to respond the US is sending a very strong message to the Iranians, and there is nothing wrong with that, absolutely nothing. They should see the seriousness and resolve that we have and avoid to target US interests. Liberals should be calm, nothing has happened yet. Once bomb start falling and thousands of people are dying then liberals can get into a panic, but to show military force and to threaten an adversary can be a very good deterrent.

Nothing like a good ol War to take focus off things..brings the people together trumps base will beat the drum with him im sure....

No, unlike liberals that believe in duck and hide, most Trump supporters don’t want a war at all, but understand and stand by the President for not allowing Iran to remotely think they can just push us around.

Who's number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10?

Are they going to do another Iraq?

The Bushes are no longer in charge. No.

Despite the despicable regime, Iran has kept to the deal.

Of course they've kept to the deal, it allows them to have a nuclear weapon eventually.
