Bullying and guns = disaster. (Here it's suicide.)

To preempt the discussion.
-Guns kill people, ban guns!
-Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Ban baseball bats.
-Crazy people with guns kill people. Enforce gun control.
Personally, I much prefer a system where it is very difficult for a crazy person to get a hold of a Gun.

To those who say he would have accomplished the same thing without guns, and it's not the fault of lax gun laws, I ask, could he have done the same thing with a stapler or tube of toothpaste? We can even up it and say he had the Colgate pump.

What sad,sad situation!! RIP

I think strict gun laws are a good idea. However, it would not completely prevent this kind of violence as long as the guns are available period. Background checks, medical checks, age checks, etc would not prevent someone from getting a gun from someone else or making a bomb, etc. While controlling careful who can buy a gun legally is a wise thing to do, it is the area related to mental health and the inablility to recognize people in trouble and related warning signs and react to them that also needs to be heavily examined.

LOL. Unless he is Mc Gyver, I would have to say - No.

I used to work with a local who was loco and even here in Japan he was able to legally purchase over a dozen shotguns. When he was finally committed the cops took them all away. Still, this could happen here too, yet it rarely does; knives do the dirty work here. RIP kids.

This is terrible...I hope the victims can rest in peace and that all of those affected and their families get all of the support they need during this difficult time.

What is easier to cut? Illegal guns, or games that teach children how to kill and enjoy that? It is correct, guns doesn't kil, people does. So even without guns they can use whatever as long as there are games, blody movies, etc that corrupt children minds making look funny what is evil.. so that should be illegal for them.

If he'd been restricted only the latter, he wouldn't be facing most certain life in prison - a sad but all-too-common ending for a mentally disturbed youth. Poor kid: Too bad the "adults" in America are so sloppy with their "toys."

C.Sinbad,
Yeah it cud happen here but compared to the US which there are many many millions of guns, handguns, rifles, semi & full automatics I wud bet on this happening a LOT more in the US & history seems to bear that out, sad day, but the US on occasion reaps what it sews sadly.
nath
banned guns

His bad. He should face the consequences.

When will America ever learn??

Ah, so it wasn't bullying after all. Why does the media always suggest that first? In fact, why does the media report such things without verification?

A tragedy & my condolences to all those affected, but I don't think more gun laws would've made a difference. If the victims really were chosen at random (i.e., he wasn't planning to specifically kill them) & he just wanted to kill people, we should be glad he didn't look up the "recipe" for an IED & blow up half the school.
NJ has some of the strictest gun laws in the U.S. with each city/town's police chief deciding who will get a license. Judging from the daily shootings in Newark, Trenton, Camden, etc either those cities have really lenient police chiefs or people are somehow getting illegal handguns.
maglev101
gun laws don't apply to da ghettos.
