It’s the new “normal”. Until the Germans wake up.

I wasn't aware Berlin and Munich no longer exist.

"Destroyed", eh? Hyperbole much?

No, spot on.

I wasn't aware Berlin and Munich no longer exist.

Getting there.

This is the point where he will gladly tell you that there's cities in Germany where no Germans live anymore,

Yes

that the migrants have taken over the government, and other somesuch bull he picked up on rightwingnuts media (most of it not German in origin).

Never said anything like that, interesting how liberals like to....embellish stories, yeah, talk about wing nuts.

It couldn't be further from "spot on" if you tried. Words have meanings.

No, it is exactly, spot on.

A report that a state in Germany is trying to regulate and curb migration (as is, of course, prudent), but in the process abandoning migrants and leaving them to fence for themselves,

And?

local politicians escalating their anti-migration rhetoric upsetting the public order and having state and social workers worried? The state in question being Thuringia, with one of the lowest share of foreigners in Germany, but with a party that was certified "rightwing extremist" gathering the most votes?

Germany should take Poland and Hungary's model. At this pace and the current climate, that might happen.

Do you see a pattern somewhere?

The libs are weak.

I'm afraid there's not much of a discussion to be had if you don't participate in the mutual understanding of what words mean.

I feel the same, but try not to do a liberal spin or make light of the severity that Germany is facing and how bad of an idea taking in thousands of migrants into Germany was a very bad idea.

Four million immigrants integrated into German society working and paying taxes and doing jobs the Germans didn't want to do. The country needs them.

No one is talking about them.

There are 1 million Ukraine refugees.

Germany has put back border controls upsetting Poland.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Poland has 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees.

I reject that notion, just to fit into your worn out preconceptions. I am not a liberal, I consider myself fairly conservative,

Could have fooled me.

and I am in favor of the border measures Germany is currently implementing. But no hysteria and no hyperbole is needed to justify that Germany needs to tighten up a few things, it is entirely possible to argue those with a level head and the actual real-world conditions. One does not need to invoke hysterical scenarios that don't exist.

I think Germany or in particular Merkel made a huge mistake to allow and push mass migration the way she did, that will be her legacy and she ruined the country because of that.

Also, Germany has never had a left-leaning government, the whole "left vs. right" trench warfare does not apply. Everything that happened since WW2, including waves of immigration since the 1970s, happened under conservative administrations. And it is a conservative administration that is now implementing border measures.

Not in the sense of US political definition, the CDU was just as bad as the CSU in allowing the slow disintegration of the German Republik

That being said, and to bring it all back to the article at hand, the new security measures at the Oktoberfest bring it in line with the security measures for literally any other event in Munich. One actually has to wonder what took them so long to step up security, considering there's knife attacks and rape crimes at the Oktoberfest every year ... between the regular Oktoberfest visitors.

Good question. Let's see how this all will end up, but this is just unsustainable and Germany is at a breaking point and when the dam bursts, it will not be pretty,

Poland has 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees.

Yes, they do. We know that, that is not the problem

Poland has 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees.

Correct. About half the number of the country with the most Ukrainian refugees .... RUSSIA!"

Is that pre- or post- land theft Russia?

It is neither healthy nor productive to view political and geopolitical issues, or those who engage in such discussions, solely through the narrow lens of the US "left vs. right" dichotomy.

I agree

You would do good to evaluate individuals based on the merit of their arguments

I do

rather than outright dismissing their views simply because they are not sitting in your very, very tiny box of preconceptions.

Well, I call it for what it is, I try not to sugarcoat things and I’m not a politically correct person that tows the moral or ethical line in order to not offend the powers that be. Unrefined, no filter and to the point.

Germany is correct to increase security during its most famous Oktoberfest but all attending people need to be on their guard.

They absolutely should, no arguments here.

after a deadly knife attack in western Germany

There were actually several recent deadly knife attacks in German, in Mannheim, in Solingen, in Bremen etc.

Nice to see the media reduces the issue to one.

Do you think it’s a conspiracy to hide the truth?

Has Doom started and they’re hiding it from us?

Do you think it’s a conspiracy to hide the truth?

Depends on if you call consistent bias a "conspiracy". What is in a word?
