for his role in arranging the secret sale of weapons to Iran and the diversion of the proceeds to the anti-communist Contra rebels in Nicaragua.

Gun runner and liar, an ideal NRA leader.

Nothing like a convicted felon to run a terrorist organization.

If you want to look like a responsible association, this is not how you do it.

Gun runner and liar, an ideal NRA leader.

Gun runner, liar, and supporter of terrorists. I respect the NRA honestly reflecting the core of their brand with this choice.

Great news! Congrats Col. North! You deserve it, now I know the 2nd amendment will be deeply and fiercely protected.

I recently joined the NRA even though I don’t own a gun because of the current assault on the US constitution by Marxist authoritarians. Mr North is a patriot and a worthy leader of that fine organization.

Good man.

Crime pays- as long as you're a conservative hack, apparently.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Aren’t liberals the ones giving convicted felons voting rights now? Yet all negative comments about someone whose conviction was reversed and dismissed more than 25 years ago?

all this just makes me want to join the NRA too.

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

I have no idea what that has to do with Oliver North being in charge of the NRA now.

But ok, sure. Did I miss the military service of any of the recent Democratic presidents or any of the Democratic 2016 or 2020 presidential hopefuls?

President 42 registered for draft

But didn’t go

Draft dodgers Rudy Giuliani. Mitt Romney.  Ted Nugent.  Newt Gingrich.  Dick Cheney.

All the same. Doesn’t matter liberal, libertarian or conservative

North went south when he was a gun runner for terrorists

North would be great for the position.

A lot of people like to throw the racist card against America. Fact is, it's the freest country in the world. And some people don't like that.

By what standards? Because it’s awash with firearms?

sou like the perfect candidate for the job, nothing controversial about him right?!:-/

While you're at it, better get their help against the unicorn cavalry and the gummi bear death commandos.

I have a bad feeling we’re going to see even more school shootings soon.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

By what standards? Because it’s awash with firearms.

It just shows how evil we can be to each other. Wouldn't you rather have an honest group of people rather than some controlled group like China or Japan? The Europeans have been successfully killing each other for hundreds and hundreds of years, and now we're supposed to take your advice about individuals owning guns? LOL. No thanks.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

so the bottom line is "just look at all the bad stuff that happens and the millions of deaths when a society freely allows its citizens to have guns of every type under the sun" so I guess it's really true when they say "guns kill people!"

If that were true, most of the population of Wisconsin and Texas would be dead.

Fact is, it's the freest country in the world.

The 17th most free, apparently.

But I guess we can measure freedom in various ways. Freedom to hang out your washing, freedom to sell noodles from your own property, freedom to stand at your front door with a rifle, etc.

freedom to stand at your front door with a rifle

And why not? Have you ever been to a US inner city? I'm guessing no. Too scared to venture out.

Have you?

The state with the lowest gun death rate in the nation was Massachusetts, followed by New York. Both states have strong gun violence prevention laws and lower rates of gun ownership.

Ok, so two Socialist States, good for them.

We were the first until liberals put restrictions, selective cherry picking and penalties on those freedoms and that’s where you see the slide.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Sure, why not? Next up; William Calley as US ambassador to Vietnam.

That's not what that word means.

I don"t know the NRA members, but the NRA leadership has some views which even most of the members disagree.

An all round criminal, and wrong 'un gets to be big cheese in the NRA death cult.

I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't been the fall guy for Reagan and Bush?

Clamenza, right on!

CrazyJoe - Nothing like a convicted felon to run a terrorist organization.

According to the article -

Those convictions were overturned in 1991.

You might have missed that fact.

bruinfan - I don't know the NRA members, but the NRA leadership has some views which even most of the members disagree.

If you don't the NRA members, from whom are you getting your NRA insider information from? Democrat Party talking points? Russian internet posters?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

zichi -

President 42 registered for draft

President 43

President 45 "a five-deferment draft dodger."

President 40

Draft dodgers Rudy Giuliani. Mitt Romney.  Ted Nugent.  Newt Gingrich.  Dick Cheney.

Meanwhile, it appears that, once again, the NRA is ignoring the political threats, and ramblings, of the far left by electing Oliver North.

I couldn't help but notice that the author of the attached article didn't mention that North's conviction were overturned until the 8th paragraph. Interesting.

I think it's very important that people remember just what this treasonous man was up to.

I've simplified it for those of you not around at the time.

Most NRA members would like to have some required background checks, but the top leaders donors are against it.
