Massive blackout hits Taiwan, affecting 5 million households

There is little question saboteurs are at play with Taiwan's grid, with all major cities experiencing massive power outages from Taipei on the northern tip to Tainan in the south.

Is China preparing to make a move? Even if nothing happens this could easily be a practice run. Cutting power before invasion is routine.

When US ask Taiwan to declare independence, than will China invade Taiwan.

The ball is in US court after all the provoking of China.

It doesn't matter who is 'in power' in America, the Naked Greeds or the PsuedoAltruists, we keep 'pushing' the same hypocrisies regarding people we would abandon in a heartbeat if using them no longer served the interests of our hegemonic dominance and bullying foreign policy. This anti-China article asserts Chinese "sabre-rattling" and "breaching Taiwan's air defense zone", but this 'sabre-rattling' would be completely drowned out by America's hysterical howls of protest if Chinese warships were to begin routinely transiting the INTERNATIONAL WATERS between the U.S. and Cuba. And does the CIA still not only violate Cuba's 'air defense zone' but conduct routine reconnaissance overflights of Cuba itself? Ah American government, Bah Humbug!

And, regarding Pompeo, from the looks of him in the picture, he must have the same personal trainer as Respected Comrade Kim.

Let’s hope this administration won’t go that far.

Total support for free, independent Taiwan.

When US ask Taiwan to declare independence, than will China invade Taiwan.

China wouldn't dare.

But it's okay for Ukraine? What a crock.

Pompeo and the US won't do a damn thing if China assaults Taiwan. Not a single thing.

The US is all words and no action.

As a private citizen, what could Pompeo do? Send a private army?

I can see why some people liken the situation to Ukraine, it is easy to draw some similarities. The ethnic backgrounds of the territory, the proximity to China, the historical background, the desire for unification. There are some easy parallels there.

The big difference being that Taiwan is not actively antagonizing China. They aren't bombing anyone nor are actively engaged in a genocide against Chinese people, considering they are largely ethnically Chinese themselves.

Without any antagonistic elements like that, there is simply no reason for China to make any kind of move. There isn't any concrete benefit, and there is nobody to intercede on the behalf of. Even those in Taiwan who want reunification are not being oppressed to any degree that I am aware of.

Not to mention, that as much as people like to conflate them, China simply isn't Russia. They have been the least interventionist superpower in the world by a mile. You don't see them making moves to expand territory like Russia or bombing countries into oblivion like the States.

Now that could change of course. External forces could try to push Taiwan into declaring independence, which probably would prompt a response, but as it stands I still do not see the merits of a conflict for either Taiwan or China.

There is ZERO reputable evidence that Ukraine is committing genocide against Russians.

On Taiwan visit Pompeo says island must not suffer Ukraine's fate:

This once flippant and irresponsible top-diplomat is talking loudly again, probably to bemuse Taiwan politicians.

If things actually happen, he will stay silent and not to be found anywhere..

Yeah, they would

Their claims of ownership of Taiwan and it's people. China's huge attempt to claim ownership of the South China sea, Continued disputes with other nations over territory. I see plenty of evidence to the contrary of the above statement. Of course for a few decades China launched artillery strikes against Taiwan.

The big three all have their issues and their faults.

The gift looks like a dagger, was that a message to Taiwan: America will stab your back!

Giving him a knife as a gift. Probably less chance it will disappear than a $5,800 bottle of whiskey.

Pompeo is not trustworthy.
