Glad to see Japan is making progress in this department. 18.5 per 100,000 is not great, but numbers have been on the decline for the past several years.

Every suicide is a tragedy.

What is a tragedy is that people are left to suffer to the point that they see no other way out. Trying to prevent suicide itself is meaningless without addressing the underlying causes.

The most suicide-prone countries were Guyana (44.2 per 100,000), followed by North and South Korea (38.5 and 28.9 respectively

So North Korea is not the paradise its citizens are lead to believe?
