People should watch the youtube video before commenting. This girl was ran over by two different vehicles and at least 10 different civillains passed by before a woman moved the girl out of the street and called for help. I don't care what the excuse is, not helping the girl is such an inhumane act.

9 ( +8 / -1 )

I apologize to those who watched the video because of my recommendation. I should given a warning of that it was graphic. But such is the reality of the world we live in, and make sure to give a helping hand if you find yourself in a similar situation.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

DO NOT watch the video like Ninjadreams said to. I did and I'm traumatized. All that's necessary to know is that what the article said was true. I really wish I could have unseen that.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

WTF?! What the hell is wrong with people? How can you just walk past something like that.

Screw the Good Samaritan Act, If I stopped and helped that little girl and she ended up living, it would be worth it for me to be sent to jail for 'something I did wrong."

Gurukun, Amen to your comment here!

". . . government rules on dealing with accident victims."

What in the world kind of government rules could possibly exist that would involve prosecution for coming to the aid of someone in need?

If such government rules do indeed, exist, that may explain why some folks were reluctant to help.

But it doesn't explain why others wouldn't simply do the human thing, give the government a hearty middle-finger salute, and help this poor child.

Tragic and wrong on so many levels, it makes me want to weep.

I wonder if that "earlier case" was something that actually happened or if it's an urban myth that gets trotted out by snarky posters who don't see the damage that can happen as a result of repeating such rubbish.

(We get similar sorts of rubbish here, and I wish more people would call posters out on it).

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Oh good gosh, do NOT watch that on youtube. I wish I had seen James's warning first. Poor poor little girl. As much as I dislike Japan, that never ever would have happened here, people just would not have walked on by like that. Beyond inhumane, truely evil. It was absolutely clear she was very badly hurt, there was a huge amount of blood. It is times like this that I wish I was religious. Poor poor little baby.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Okay. Pains me to say this but.... a couple of months ago, I intervened when a grown man was kicking, punching and beating a child on a street. In Tokyo. On a main road. Loads of onlookers doing nothing. It took me a few minutes to get to the child as I had to wait for traffic lights to change. I had my 3 year old on the back of my bike. I am now involved in a child abuse case as a witness. This is why I feel so vehement when I hear about sloppy parenting as I feel it is a form of child abuse.

I am not going to watch this poor little girl on YouTube. I have enough images of a 9 year old Japanese boy, being kicked, dragged and punched on a main road, his hands held out pleading for help whole folk at a bus stop, a construction site and various others on stopped bikes did screw up.

I can't tell you how much it cuts me down to the core.

This is really sick but it is not only a CHINESE problem! A few ago in Boston?? Some crappy place in the USA an old man got hit by a car and about 10 people just passed by and some even to VIDEOS on their cellphones but NO ONE was nice or intelligent enough to call 911! It is all on Youtube if you do not believe me, so we can scream and yell about the Chinese but sorry dear moderator, it happens in many, many countries so DO NOT DELETE THIS because IT IS NOT OFF TOPIC. All humans need to really reflect on their own actions. Are we really behaving as HUMANS?? Are we worse than apes? I am so sad for this little girl out there in China.

Boston is actually a very nice city; But that is just the point - this can and does happen everywhere. There is an odd pyschological phenomenon known as the bystander effect - the more witnesses there are to tragedies like this, the less likely anyone is to help. I don't know why. It's breathtakingly sad.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I just watched the video and now my insides are just boiling and twisting... the pain is unbearable... DO NOT WATCH!!! Unless you are strong enough to take the pain that comes with it. What a disgrace.....Shame on those people!!!!! Hope they all burn in hell!!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Gosh, that was terrible. I just can't believe that people passed by without doing anything... I don't consider them as human beings. Humans do not let a two year old girl lying on the street like that.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

This will never happen in Japan.

Nonsense. It has happened here - yes Japan. People - neighbours - have ignored children being bashed to death here. This tragedy is NOT an ethnic thing - it is an example of how disconnected many humans have become toward their fellow human - everywhere. Rest in Peace little girl.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I cried when i saw this. My heart literally bleed tears. The poor little child needed help and 20 people walked by. What a sick sick sick society we live in. I hope she recovers fully goes onto a college in another country in the future and becomes a famous person at something far away from that sick society that neglected her in her pain.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

My wife and I still cannot get over the shock of this. The baby's arms were still moving while 18 people purposefully walked around her and no one did anything for 7 minutes. I saw on the news last night where they interviewed the guy who works in the store across from where it took place. He said, "would you have helped her?" My response would be an emphatic YES. Shame on you, heartless man.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

very sad but Police have detained the drivers of both vehicles involved in the incident, Xinhua said, let them face the legal consequences.

sunhawk

we should all be boycotting anything made in china over this! maybe a sudden drop in export revenues will teach those commies some humanity.

Yeah and dont let your virulent hatred of China cloud your statements either. Maybe you could look closer to home before abusing the "commies" hey.....

1 ( +4 / -3 )

This sad episode just highlights how - the world over - selfish and disconnected humans have become. When we ignore little kids dying on the street, being bashed by their parents etc - we know the world is a very sick place. Fortunately, there are still a few people left like Samantha Zoe Aso out there.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

foken selfish people! pissed me off so after watching that video. if we can't help each other, then this world is all screwed up and hopeless

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The fact that this poor girl was hit by two cars and not assisted by anyone who walked by is nothing short of being disgusting and inhumane. The saddest thing about this story is that this little girl is going to die.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Well, it's just like in America, too.

I mean, it was so bad (no one wanting to help for fear of being sued for liability) that Congress actually had to enact a law that protected those giving aid so they can't be held liable.

People suck and never want to get involved. What about the woman who ran down the street, bleeding after having been attacked, an no one helped her. They only watched through their house windows as she died in the middle of the street.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Happened to me a couple of months ago. I helped this big japanese guy that fell from the stairs.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

BlueWitch, am not going to watch. It would piss me off and am very fond of Children.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Life is very cheap in China.

The Chinese Cultural Revolution had removed a moral teaching of humanity in society. It will take another 100 yrs for China to catch up with us.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Gurukun,

too late for that. I hope the drivers rot in hell, and if there is karma it has something in store for the 17 cold-hearted creeps who walked by.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

China likes to hand out the DEATH PENALTY, if anybody deserves the DEATH PENALTY, my vote is for both of these idiot drivers who ran over the 2 year old little girl, I just saw this evening on the Japanese evening news while I was trying to have dinner! These 2 evil, stupid bastards ran over this innocent little girl, and yes, maybe they did it again, to try to make sure she died, but ALL of the fools who just passed by, seeing this poor little girl bleeding on the road! All of these bastards who think it is ok to passy by a small, innocent child and just let them die there, they ALL DESERVE THE DEATH PENALTY! I pray that they do rot in hell for all of eternity too, so I guess I am with Blue Witch??

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It used to be: "If you save a human's life, you are responsible for that person the rest of your life." The accident is understandable because of parental neglect, but the continued drive-bys and walk-bys by people cannot be explained or accepted. It shows how little people value a human life in many countries. After all, if your mother told you that "you are one in a million," in China there are 13 million of you!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

let them face the legal consequences.

Hell no. Let them face justice. Justice may find them innocent of any wrongdoing. We are talking about a two year old wandering in the streets alone. Driving a van and a truck, the drivers may have had no idea they hit a kid.

What in the world kind of government rules could possibly exist that would involve prosecution for coming to the aid of someone in need?

Pretty crazy huh?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Being that it's China, and how angry I am at reading about this, I hope they can identify some of the people in the camera footage and put them ALL in the slammer for at least a year or two to think about their absolute ignorance.

This kind of thing happens in Japan as well -- if not ignoring an injured child then ignoring a rape on a train or something -- and it's just so utterly disgusting. Thank you to the rubbish collector who finally stopped and tried to help the little girl. You are a saint in a hell-hole.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

@zichi, oh i know that. the western socialist nations of Europe have been more communist then the soviets, chinese, etc ever have been. they just call them selves communist because it is easier for the hans to swallow then nazi. chairman mao once told Khrushchev that he was fine with sacrificing millions of his citizens in a nuclear war with the with west. that was the point where the soviets stopped all nuclear weapon development aid with china. the soviets thought they were nuts. life in china is cheaper then 100 yen store merchandise.

At the risk of being holier than y'all, there was no time when I considered watching a YouTube video of a two-year-old being hit by cars.

To Samantha, good for you for getting involved. No good deed goes unpunished, but it's nice to see that some people will step up anyway.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

At first I thought good grief why didn't anyone lift a finger? Where were her parents? Okay so finally someone comes to her aid and locates the mother. Then I thought what government rules on dealing with accident victims? I recall reading about a good samaritan who helped a woman out of her car and in return was sued by the woman. He was not a paramedic just someone who happened to be passing by when she got into an accident. It turned out that leaving her alone would have been better because of her injuries. He has to pay her medical bills and then some! This happened in the states.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Absolutely no need to watch what is already an image painted so graphically by words. JHC, WTF? Why?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I didn't read the comments above I'm still in shock . New papers around the world have the youtube clip link on their front pages for anybody to view without searching

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I am sure this will cause a lot of discussion and soul-searching in China.

We shouldn't get to thinking we're all that much better, unless we are going out of our way to help those in need of it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

very sad story & YES it happens in every country. elbuda Don't make it out to be the "us" is bashing china again" story because many of the people who are angry about it are chinese. id be angry too if i saw it in my city. i get annoyed when i see it ANYwhere in the world. (on videos) this stuff just shouldn't happen.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

she already died. REST IN PEACE. http://www.shanghaidaily.org/article/?id=484913&type=National

Selfishness and coldhearted people in this superficial world we live in..

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Not for traffic accident victims, though.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This use to happen in Okinawa though with time things changed. Rendering aid is taking responsibility over that person.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Yes Raymasaki, my point that I am trying to make is that this is horrible but this time it was in China, next?? We never really know, we do live in a cruel world, good people of good kind hearts must become stronger, wiser with more compassion and mercy for their fellow humans, I hope it is not true that the little girl died, but if it is RIP little girl out over in China.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Yeah I saw the video on a news site The bastard looked like he did it on purpose he ran over her twice to make sure she's dead China has many fked up rules and a ruthless mentality of their society. If they keep it like this there's no hope for them.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Oh China....... Everyone seems only out to get rich for themselves......... The Great Leap Forward..........

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I just watched the video. Cold-blooded murder. Disgusting.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This is truly horrible. I do not understand how an adult cannot respond to a child in danger without a compassionate and protective instinct. Only clinical psychopaths would be immune.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why humans beome like this? The greed and selfishness lead people to think only about themself. This is what Chinese govt is encouraging own people. How can they be proud of as the best race in the world? propaganda as Super power? leader of Asia?

That girl is already dead.... ( news) This video is the real message of current Chinese people`s mind. Money money and get rich any way is Ok.!!!

http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topic-forum/471391-2yr-old-toddler-run-over-twice-pedestrians-do-nothing-help-her.html

0 ( +1 / -1 )

The good Samaritan act varies from place to place but the gist is

in the absencence of imminent danger the good samaritan is liable for any injuries that ensue because of his/her action is considered reckless if the responder decided to help, he must not leave the victim until a more competent person arrives the good samaritan law only protects the medical/emergency/paramedical staffs from lawsuit

so if you decided to help and things did not go the right way you are cooked

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ratpack, I heard that she already has died. I feel your pain.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

ratpack, I apologize for the error my last post. I misread a news article. I hope that the little girl survives and lives a healthy life as well.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And this folks is why I get upset when I see kids playing in the street here.

Indeed not defending the driver of the first truck could the second perhaps thought it was a doll since it was laying in the street?

Poor kid. Stupid parents for allowing their child to be running around in harm's way - let alone not checking on here. Poor women who found her and helped her.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Honestly. I really don't get it. These inhumanity, immorality, cruelness, and heartless people. God, why and how did you exist? doing these kind of thing to a helpless child, to this innocent girl. Don't you have conscience? i'm not blaming the parents of this child, children are always like that, always wanting to walk, always wanting to see things. Maybe her parents did something they thought that the child was beside them. Yes, it's their negligence but who's parent on earth would want their child to be like this? Especially all the mothers out there. To the ruthless truck drivers and to the heartless passersby hope it will not happen to your daughter or any of your loves ones. To the drivers, you should be the one who will suffer this kind of cruelty for the rest of your life. Your karma will awaits.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The first thing we should do is to pray for that little girl. Hoping that she would live on this earth. I really don't know what's the latest development of that child but i want her to live and if she doesn't then God have a purpose: First, is maybe God want her to be safe and happy in His paradise, He doesn't want that little girl to be hurt again from the place where cruel people and heartless people exist. Second, God want us to realize and He want us to open our mind and have a morality to love life especially to the young minds that doesn't know what really the world is.

Let us pray for that child and for her family, no matter what religion you are or beliefs you have let us be as one.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Until now i just can't stop crying whenever i watch the video. because i can't imagine if this would happen to my nieces and nephews. I thank God that we don't have this kind of cruelty here in my country. and if ever it will happen i'm pretty much sure a lot of people will help and the person who's responsible will be beaten to death by the people.

It's time to open the eyes of Chinese government and of their citizens. please value life.

The kid would have been better off being smashed to death rather than this hell she is in now as obviously the mother e did not give a damn,

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

People in China usually won't help traffic accident victims since they know they can be sued by the victim or victim's relatives. This will never happen in Japan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqVYUzHc5L8&feature=related

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

That's right Yuri. Also most Chinese will not apologize for something they did wrong, since that would be an admission of guilt.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

sunhawk:

we should all be boycotting anything made in china over this! maybe a sudden drop in export revenues will teach those commies some humanity.

Notice that the outraged people were .......wait for it........Chinese! Boo! Should I be disgusted at all Japanese people because no-one on that train bothered helping the woman who was being raped by the man sitting next to her? Heavens, using your logic, I should be boycotting USA too. Ten times over.

Samantha: This world would be a better place with more people like you.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I remember hearing about this in Japan before. I'm sure it's happened in other countries as well. It's just something that happens on the spot and probably can't be explained other than people just doing what everyone else is doing.
