Trump will hold a campaign rally

Curious wording. If in fact this is a 'campaign rally', I assume Trump and the Republicans will be footing the bill, except of course for the Secret Service and other law enforcement details paid for by taxpayers. Will he fly one of his private planes, or use Air Force One?

“speak directly to people across this county in an unfiltered way, in a way that doesn’t have any bias.”

I'm sure he'll continue to speak directly in an 'unfiltered way' (i.e. his usual ruck rousing hooey), but have trouble believing he'll able to do so bias-free.

Though he wants to suppress media outlets that question him, the US still has a free press. Hopefully he and his followers will allow members of the press to attend his rally without being assaulted. If members of the free press are allowed to attend and report, the public in general can decide if what Trump said was bias-free or not.

"After four tumultuous weeks of governing, President Donald Trump is out of the White House doing what he loves best — campaigning."

Apparently, part of making America great again entails Hitlerian rallies every three weeks so Donald's cultist disciples can applaud his inane ramblings, sieg heil his exalted eminence, and pamper his colossal, tumorous ego.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Matt Taibbi from years ago describing the type of people who'd attend these rallies:

This is the "classic peasant mentality: going into fits of groveling and bowing whenever the master’s carriage rides by, then fuming against the Turks in Crimea or the Jews in the Pale or whoever after spending fifteen hard hours in the fields. You know you’re a peasant when you worship the very people who are right now, this minute, conning you and taking your ----. Whatever the master does, you’re on board. When you get frisky, he sticks a big cross in the middle of your village, and you spend the rest of your life praying to it with big googly eyes. Or he puts out newspapers full of innuendo about this or that faraway group and you immediately salute and rush off to join the hate squad. A good peasant is loyal, simpleminded, and full of misdirected anger. And that’s what we’ve got now, a lot of misdirected anger searching around for a non-target to mis-punish…"

Connecting with everyday Americans instead of lobbyists and Washington insiders.

Trump promised and he delivered.

Granted the Swamp is desperate to hang on and hence the daily media attacks on the people's president but Trump will prevail.

The people have spoken, DTS.

Connecting with everyday Americans instead of lobbyists and Washington insiders.

That's exactly what the left doesn't get. Trump is connecting with the average everyday working class American.

Donald does love the poorly educated. His words not mine, but if I were poorly educated Don would be my guy- doesn't challenge me intellectually, nor make me think.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

but if I were poorly educated Don would be my guy- doesn't challenge me intellectually, nor make me think.

So that means, Trump shouldn't care about the poor or if he doesn't make you think, he should be some sort of inspiration? Sounds to me like you're kind of making fun of the poor. Once again, with comments like that, it is so evident why libs keep losing elections.

Though he wants to suppress media outlets that question him, the US still has a free press.

Not suppress it, but call them out, which is something he should do. Freedom os speech doesn't entitle you to slander people with false news or accusatory unverified statements.

Hopefully he and his followers will allow members of the press to attend his rally without being assaulted.

Hasn't happened yet. Now on the liberal side, good luck.

If members of the free press are allowed to attend and report, the public in general can decide if what Trump said was bias-free or not.

Yeah, but that hasn't happened generally speaking.

takeda - classic in a "What's Wrong with Kansas?" sense. Perhaps they'll figure it out eventually; perhaps not.

Trump is just fishing for liberals to take the bait.

You actually have people reading this stuff? For what? As Trump said about the BBC the other day, "Oh, here's another beauty...."

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

Well it's apparent that if you don't agree with EVERYTHING that trumpy and Co say and do that you are somehow A "LIBTARD" or you not worthy of anything and you should basically go kill yourselves because trumpy is the best thing to ever happen!! But the reality is , the man is incapable of rational thinking and has no knowledge of how the process of checks and balances work in the system of government, he seems to work under the assumption that he can make stuff up and does not even have to have any factual basis. Seems like he can makes hand gestures and speak utter gibberish for hours and his followers will blindly agree! That is a truly scary and sad thing.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Bass :As Trump said about the BBC the other day, "Oh, here's another beauty...."

Fiddlesticks and Flapdoodle! How come a few weeks ago, he was okay with the BBC, now suddenly isn't, oh yes, that's right, a female reporter troubled him with a question, rather than sycophantically massaging his ego.

13 ( +14 / -1 )

Well it's apparent that if you don't agree with EVERYTHING that trumpy and Co say and do that you are somehow A "LIBTARD" or you not worthy of anything and you should basically go kill yourselves because trumpy is the best thing to ever happen!!

Especially when it comes to the media, Ohhhh, most definitely!

But the reality is , the man is incapable of rational thinking and has no knowledge of how the process of checks and balances work in the system of government, he seems to work under the assumption that he can make stuff up and does not even have to have any factual basis.

That's ok, the last admin. didn't know what it was doing and we're still here. Trump will learn, as long as the Democrats confirm his appointees that can put in their respective secretarial positions they can get things done, if not, of course Trump is going to do it himself and when that happens, the left goes nuts, so what do these whiners want? Confirm his appointees or have Trump everything himself?

Seems like he can makes hand gestures and speak utter gibberish for hours and his followers will blindly agree! That is a truly scary and sad thing.

Hey, but he is so, so funny. The last guy talked and talked and lectured and preached as if we went to a Sunday morning church service. Trump's more like a Pay-per view all out boxing match! Love it! Get in their faces and give 'em both barrels! LOL

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

That's exactly what the left doesn't get. Trump is connecting with the average everyday working class American. but he's not connected with the majority of Americans, that's why the criticism of him isn't going to go away.

"Connecting with everyday Americans instead of lobbyists and Washington insiders."

That's exactly what the left doesn't get. Trump is connecting with the average everyday working class American.

Doesn't sound much like governing. I thought that's what he was elected to do, rather than getting out and about for ego massages. I bet they'll keep everyday working class Americans who don't like him well out of his sight.

bass4funkFEB. 19, 2017 - 10:32AM JST

Hey, but he is so, so funny.

Unintentionally, maybe.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@brbush The people have spoken, DTS.

If you're saying he got more votes from the Electoral College, you're correct. But by people, if you mean the majority of US voters, then the 'people' did not elect him. As you might know, the majority of voters voted for Clinton. A suggestion for rightists and Russians in the future: when using terms like 'the people' it's probably best to use qualifiers.

@bass Trump's more like a Pay-per view all out boxing match! Love it! Get in their faces and give 'em both barrels! LOL

Trump did appoint a woman from the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to his cabinet to appeal to people who are easily amused watching men do strange things to each other. But remember, it's a minority of people who want their leader to 'give 'em both barrels'. The majority, i.e. those who voted for his opponent, probably prefer not seeing a violent clown in charge. And many don't like shoot-em-ups, either.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

but he's not connected with the majority of Americans, that's why the criticism of him isn't going to go away.

No, more like the Trump haters and the people that opposed him. The people that hate him the most are the people that live in coastal areas or what we call the far looney left strongholds.

Doesn't sound much like governing.

Where were you the last month, do you need a list of his accomplishments that he's done already for his short time in office?

I thought that's what he was elected to do, rather than getting out and about for ego massages. I bet they'll keep everyday working class Americans who don't like him well out of his sight.

No, only libs would do a one way block.

Unintentionally, maybe.

No, no, methodically for sure, brilliant. ROFL

Nice rousing speech, but I would have advised the team not to play "You can't always get what you want" by the Stones right after. LOL

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Yes bass, please provide a list of Trump's accomplishments so far....

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Where were you the last month, do you need a list of his accomplishments that he's done already for his short time in office?

Well so far he's picked a NSA who had to quit because of doing illegal things. He chose a successor who turned him down because his team is a "sh*t sandwich". He put in a ban that was quickly overturned because he didn't plan it out well enough. He struck down regulation preventing waste from coal mining being dropped in the water supply. He's alienated China. He's alienated Israel. He's shown he either doesn't know the real information, or is willing to lie about it when claiming he won by historical numbers.

And we're still not even at 1 month in office.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

"So that means, Trump shouldn't care about the poor or if he doesn't make you think, he should be some sort of inspiration? Sounds to me like you're kind of making fun of the poor."

Didn't Trump call the poor "morons" in the past? That sounds a little worse than making fun of them to me.

Do you have any idea when he changed his views?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If anyone wants to see the Trump supporters get their undergarments in a bundle over the serious topic of womens fashion, head over to the hilarity at the JT story about the Ivanka Trump clothing line. I can't figure out what the fuss is about given that Ivanka quit that job last month, but the jungle holdouts who didn't get the message and are going ballistic about ladies wear sure are good for laffs.

bass4funkFEB. 19, 2017 - 11:14AM JST

Where were you the last month, do you need a list of his accomplishments that he's done already for his short time in office?

I trust it'll include such notable "accomplishments" as the Yemen drone strike, appointing a Kremlin stooge as NSA, and executive orders that were blocked by the courts.

To be honest, I expect him to be adding to that list, not going out to talk deranged garbage to any suckers who are still dumb enough to believe him.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

It amazes me that anyone above the age of 8 could possibly mistake bluster for leadership. And yet that's what Trumpistas think it is. Amazing. Well if the campaign has already begun, then we should wait for the next President to fill Supreme Court vacancies, shouldn't we?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I heard his staff were handing out posters at the door saying 'Donald Is Really Popular', and 'Donald Has Lots Of Girlfriends'. Well maybe not, but I'm sure he suggested it.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

people that live in coastal areas or what we call the far looney left strongholds. those same people that produce the majority of the countries wealth. lets face it the majority of the red states are just there to harness votes, its the federal taxes generated by the "looney left strongholds" that supplies the welfare to keep the red states legitimate.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

@Bass4funk You're response is not the least bit surprising! I am willing to wager that Trump himself could come to your house during dinner , squat on you table and empty his bowels, and you would called all your friends over to bask and take pictures of such a spectacular event.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

people that live in coastal areas or what we call the far looney left strongholds those same people that produce the majority of the countries wealth

Probably too busy "producing wealth" to protect the nation's interests - many people from the "red states are just there to harness votes" serve their country and perform this more honourable duty.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

There's no more sympathy for the USA and those who perpetuate that Trump is everything they want in a leader. They're just too far gone to matter and will take everyone down with them. Good night and good luck

1 ( +3 / -2 )

and those who perpetuate that Trump is everything they want in a leader.

No one is saying that, that I know of or read. Your always gonna have your "groupies" on both sides, but honestly, for you to think that way proves you have no clue as to who's sitting on the other side of the aisle from you. Furthermore, I don't thinks it's very healthy for yourself to hold on to such strong emotions about people who just disagree with you about the direction the USA was going, with the MSM having way too much power, falsely giving themselves respect, when actually, that respect needs to earned everyday. The MSM lost it, IMO, back in early 2002.

As Saranno said:

They are not the Press, they are just corporations. LOL

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

No one is saying that, that I know of or read.

Maybe not in those words. But at least on the site, the majority of players on team trump think their coach can do no wrong. They praise him for things they've criticized other presidents for. They support him when he doesn't do things he said he would do.

It's team politics, where being on the winning team is more important than what is best for the country.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

That's exactly what the left doesn't get. Trump is connecting with the average everyday working class American.

How is three straight weekends spent at his "winter White House" connecting the people? It sounds like a person who just got a job and decided to take a vacation right away, while spending more in a month than Obama spent in a year.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

But at least on the site

Maybe, but this site, or any other webpage, really is not a good barometer for measuring someones true/real feelings for or against the Pres. Hopefully just friendly banter, where feelings and opinions are stretched on both sides as we know we'll never have to discuss this face to face with each other. IMO

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

@PTownsend If you're saying he got more votes from the Electoral College, you're correct. But by people, if you mean the majority of US voters, then the 'people' did not elect him. As you might know, the majority of voters voted for Clinton. A suggestion for rightists and Russians in the future: when using terms like 'the people' it's probably best to use qualifiers. Lets not forget illegal immigrants and dead people voted for hilary and before you say prove it a woman was arrested in texas for voter fraud

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Lets not forget illegal immigrants and dead people voted for hilary and before you say prove it a woman was arrested in texas for voter fraud

How can you forget something that never happened?

Your statement would be correct if it said "Let's pretend that a bunch of illegal immigrants and dead people voted for hillary, so that we can pretend that Trump was actually wanted by the people, even though the vote shows he wasn't".

The only people arrested for voting fraud were double voting for Trump.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

@zengo a woman was arrested in texas for voter fraud

I've read the same thing. I also read In Texas they think hundreds might have voted illegally. Who knows if they voted for Hillary, but to give you the benefit of the doubt in addition to the woman you mentioned I'll say the hundreds who MIGHT have voted illegally in Texas voted for Clinton. I'll say the same for each of the 50 states. And instead of hundreds who might have voted for Clinton I'll say it was 10,000 illegal voters in each state who voted for Clinton. That would total roughly 500,000 voters who voted illegally for Clinton.

But Clinton had roughly 2,900,000 more votes than Trump. Subtract the above 500,000 from that and Clinton still won by 2,400,000 votes. I'll repeat my point: the majority of voters voted for Clinton. The majority of American PEOPLE voted for Clinton. A minority voted for Trump. Trump supporters are a minority group in America.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I trust it'll include such notable "accomplishments" as the Yemen drone strike,

Don't worry, he still has a long way to go before reaching Obama's record when it comes to droning.

appointing a Kremlin stooge as NSA, and executive orders that were blocked by the courts.

My God, what is it with you guys in Russia, I wish I could've seen this kind of outrage from you guys when Obama allowed Putin to annex the Ukraine.

not going out to talk deranged garbage to any suckers who are still dumb enough to believe him.

Or him believing them.

Didn't Trump call the poor "morons" in the past?

Perhaps. Obama once said, "conservatives" love clinging to their guns and religion and Hillary called "Trump supporters" deplorable and irredeemable?

Do you have any idea when he changed his views?

I try not to speculate, especially when it comes to Trump.

please provide a list of Trump's accomplishments so far....

Got rid of TPP, finally got a Supreme Court nominee and a great one at that, freezes of hiring and regulations, plus ethics rules, imposing new sanctions on Iran, getting the Keystone XL pipeline back on course, restarted coal, reinstated the gag rule, started negotiations for building a wall, working on reinstating a temporary ban and to conduct extreme vetting, is quite a bit.

Moderator: Please repost without references to the Obama administration. You are doing this too often and it is not relevant.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Where were you the last month, do you need a list of his accomplishments that he's done already for his short time in office?

He got the PRC to affirm the Trump trademark on the mainland after promising to adhere to the One China policy. While I think it was a good decision geopolitically, the bonus he derived from his working the system is yuuge bucks for Trump Enterprises. He's also doubled membership fees at Mar-a-Lago to $200,000 and people are paying it 'cause, y'know, that's the price to play. Even the government is in on it; the Secret Service is negotiating to rent an entire floor at Trump Tower to protect Trump Tower, and Trump wants to charge them the (inflated) market rate. (Speaking of the Secret Service, at this rate, Trump and his brood will burn through expenses in seven months what it took Obama eight years.)

That's a lot of accomplishments in only four weeks.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump supporters are a minority group in America.

Just like when the left and the media kept saying Trump will never run, never ever win. I'm not buying that. There is a reason the media has a 14% approval rating. If that were true, Democrats would have majorities all over the legislative branch and they don't. But the coastal areas and the Northeast East, you guys can have at it.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Needed a vacation to get away from the "fake media" and refocus. I would expect in the future many of these "fake media", "fake news" platforms will not get their White House media credentials renewed.

Another CNN "fake news" media lawsuit: (CNN lost)

I would expect in the future many of these "fake media", "fake news" platforms will not get their White House media credentials renewed.

Totally agree - and by "totally," I mean "totalitarian." Media that does not agree with whatever Trump chooses to say, regardless of whatever so-called "facts" or "objective reality" they might have to back up their vicious, traitorous attacks, must be crushed. The same goes for all organs of American society which do not fall in line, including the intelligence services and courts. We're all on the same team here, and that's not team America, it's team Trump™ America!

Wipe out all who do not fall in line with no regrets. It's not like they'll be coming after you next: Where in history have totalitarians not been exemplary in their ability to reign in what they have unleashed?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

@badse will not get their White House media credentials renewed.

I hope you're not suggesting that's a positive. I hope you're not saying only those who report things the way the president wants them reported will be given credentials. I hope you're not arguing AGAINST having a free press, i.e. one in which an array of perspectives can be reported. I hope you're not saying the president canNOT be fact-checked.

You might not be aware but the US has a legal system that protects people from being slandered and libeled. Do you really want a government leader who wants to limit who can say what can be reported and how it can be reported like Putin has in Russia, Kim has in North Korea, or King Salman has in Saudi Arabia?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Trump supporters are a minority group in America.

Just like when the left and the media kept saying Trump will never run, never ever win.

False equivalency. Winning or not winning was speculation. His supporters being a minority is fact. 20% of the population voted for him. He has a 40% approval rating. Both of those are minority groups. That's fact, not speculation.

While Trump fans praise his connection to the common man, Trump Wine is seeking approval for 23 more foreign workers at $11.27 per hour in Virginia. This is to go along with his foreign workforce a Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

And the Trump fans cheer.

Not reported in the article, but apparently during his speech, when referring to the need for immigration controls, he said this:

"When you look at what’s happening in Germany, when you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden - Sweden! Who would believe this? Sweden!"

Swedes were puzzled. (What happened? Apart from Sven buying a new Volvo? ) He doesn't do himself many favors in his attacks on "fake news".

Anyone know if bipartisan report is actually bipartisan, and can be trusted? Did I say anything about the poor? You are clearly mistaking "poorly educated" for poor. Being poorly educated has nothing to do with wealth. Donald Trump is a perfect example rich, poorly educated man. No, I do not want my children to aspire to become Donald Trump. My little boy is far too smart, and aspiring to becoming like Donald Trump would be to sell his young life short.

And no, this is one presidential election, Dems had won two in a row. Donald won the electoral college and not the popular vote. The electoral college is why he won the popular vote. Donald better start taking the duties of office seriously and stop traipsing around campaigning, after less than a month on the job. Actually do something- not just sign unconstitutional executive orders.

Trump tweeted Saturday morning that he “will be having many meetings this weekend at The Southern White House.”

In other words, Trump is saying, "I'll be spending more of your hard-earned tax money to spend it at my exclusive Mar-a-Lago getaway".

Also, why is it that Trump's press conferences sound so much like an infomercial you see late at night? Could it be because he never misses a chance to pat himself on the back for a 'fake' job well done? Or, it's probably because he uses every trick in the book to con his audience into thinking HE'S done such a wonderful job, and HE AND HIS FAMILY is benefiting from it. He's not trying to make AMERICA great again; he's trying to make HIM and HIS FAMILY great again.

The Fox News polls, not a poll from a liberal outlet, didn't predict a Trump victory. Neither did you.

And the polls were based on the people that were surveyed that followed most of the polls around the country that the MSM put out, so it was more like best prediction estimates by the majority which Fox wasn't part of and yes, as a result, I too, fell for it, hook, line and sinker.

A 30% chance is still a chance. It's roughly equivalent to rolling a dice and getting a one or a two. That often comes up first time.

I often go to Vegas, I have a lot of family living there and in the world of casino betting 30% didn't seem to be a confident booster for me and many people.

Outside of Washington, Trump slips back into campaign mode -- article headline

This was not "campaign mode" - although this method of communicating with the country was utilized during his campaign. This was "fireside chat" mode, and I hope it will continue throughout his presidency. Perhaps that will be labeled as fake news.
