It seems that in the last five years or so, we have more of these strange stories: killing the chauffeur of Bin Laden, the wife of a Taliban member, etc. So people miss the intended target, blow up someone related to them, and that is somehow newsworthy? This is somehow sick and wrong. Did the wife commit a crime? Does it matter anymore?

This is a pathetic news story. Its only newsworthy if the person involved is in direct operations. This woman is more of a civilian casualty than an effective military strike against key Taliban members.

don't expect me to shed a tear! this reminds of when the FBI sniper was suppose to shoot some white supremacist and instead his wife and kid were killed. Too bad, the man put those people in that position

Opps did we miss his kids? Darn it.....To win a war against fanatics you must remove all thought of being civilized and become as they, terrorist. Kill them back to their first ancestors. Burn their family, then kill everyone that knew them and then when you are done. Make sure you got them all.

Never leave an enemy behind, he may strike you when you least expect it.

A war crime. And a cowardly act.

"A war crime. And a cowardly act."

Exactly, exactly.

A suspected U.S. missile

it just a suspect. who know? Baitullah Mehsud might had a bad night with wife the day early and design to rocket his wife in return. sometime family conflict can turn deadly.

A war crime. And a cowardly act.

Your right, The Taliban should wear a uniforms and not mix themselves with civilians. Instead, they hide like cowards in villages among civilians and commit acts of savagery and brutality on those who co-operate with the allied forces. Their willful endangerment of civilians shows just how pathetic they are.

At this stage of the game, anyone could shoot missiles, and the US gets the blame/credit.

JoeBigs, if we "become ast they, terrorist" then we lose the war and ourselves. This kind of backwards thinking is why blowback from decades of bad policies have led to the current conflicts we face.

It was foolish short sighted thinking by American policy makers that created the Mujahadin and armed them. We knew these guys were religious nut cases and yet we let our hate for the Soviets motivate us to look the other way and create these monsters.

Bin Laden and others say that 911 and their attacks are responses to US aggression. So from their perspective their actions are acts of war. This is the same reasoning you are suggesting we adopt when you say let's forget about being civilized and behave like our enemies. How can you say 911 is wrong if you turn around and carry out similarly inhumane actions and try to justify them to win a war? You cannot!!!

To win the war on terror we have to keep the moral high ground and do all we can to protect civilians. I believe we need two things now. 1. Put and end to this half fight in Afghanistan and Pakistan and commit enough forces from all the world to put and end to the Taliban and their fanatical leaders once and for all. 2. Before doing that reach out to Mujahadin who may be willing to lay down arms and join the legitimate government to represent their views. Moderate Taliban should be included and encouraged to join the fight to bring peace to the country.

And 3. Afghani and Pakistani people must be protected and civilian casualities reduced as much as can be humanly possible.

We need to win this war based on the right actions. Giving up our values is not an option.

. . and how many wives does a Taliban chief actually have?

and there are traitors in US army who leak information to media? >> Two intelligence officials and one army official, who all spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media

den den and sarge you will have to prove that it was indeed a warcrime, like for instance that they knew she was in the building they were targeting. It is indeed a tragedy.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Heh. I'm sure Sarge is busy working on that right now! As for Den Den, he doesn't have to; he knows.

It's a difficult situation. I can't say that I have the perfect answer other than I really wish that guy had been in the building at the time.

tkoind2: Bin Laden and others say that 911 and their attacks are responses to US aggression.

That's the lie that people typically believe. So why are they killing Egyptians? Why are they killing Turks? Why are they killing Indonesians? Because of US aggression?

Al Queda wants to create a Taliban state over the entire Middle East with Bin Laden as the leader. That's his purpose. He talks about "US aggression" but it's all just a smoke screen to gain support from Muslims and the radical Left. He knows that phrase strikes a chord with people such as yourself and you're more than happy to go out and be Bin Laden's mouthpiece because you like saying it.

Just look at Iraq. I'm sure that would make a good centerpiece for "US aggression" against Muslims but Al Queda had their asses handed to them not by the US but by the Iraqis themselves. Why would a country just invaded by the US choose to side with the US over Al Queda? Maybe because they know what AQ is really about...and it has nothing to do with defending Muslims. It has everything to do with enslaving them.

"and the radical Left" I was waiting for this one. Thanks SuperLib.

Was she carring an AK and planning an attack? Come-on, a Taliban wife was stuck in the house cooking and cleaning = war crime!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

i didn't know the fact that she was cooking and cleaning.

what she was cooking? C-4?

the thing is we don't know who did it for real. was it a war crime or it was just a murder. we all can just guess.

You obviously don't understand the Taliban mantra. US had intelligence(or are you suggesting they just bomb civilians for fun?) and most likely did it to get him angry so he would do something stupid and reveal himself. If it was murder, where is the inquiry?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

i am not one of them that why i don't understand them. and i can never under stand Islam ideology.

i don't think the usa bomb people for fun. i just said no one know for sure who did it. you don't know too, why pretend that you know everything even know the wife was cooking and cleaning, and the USA bomb people for fun.

i just ask

was it a war crime or it was just a murder.

i did not say for sure like you said she cooking and it war crime. i said

we all can just guess.

who know?
