Pakistani Taliban hint at attacks on aid workers

The Taliban hinted Thursday they may launch attacks against foreigners helping Pakistan respond to the worst floods in the country’s history, saying their presence was “unacceptable.”

No, their presence is unacceptable. Ugh. Why would you go out of your way to prevent aid?! Because violence and blowing people to bits is the way to act during a crisis? People are suffering and dying, and they want it to continue. Sick.

All my life I have advocated peace and been against violence as a solution to problems. Even spending a lot of my life involved in politics against military action and in support of locals who reject international intervention. But the Taliban raise exceptions for me.

The Taliban in Afghanistan repressed, tormented and often killed the people of that poor country. Their backwards ideas were not native to Afghanistan but were born out of radicalism in the Soviet war refugee camps of Pakistan.

I was happy to see them toppled and hoped that the people of Afghanistan would be ok. But the botched support by the west has now unleashed an even more deadly strain of Taliban who now infect Pakistan as well.

With this announcement, I truly believe that the Taliban deserve, as a movement, to be erradicated in total. They must be stopped and their incessant murdering of their own people put to an end. My friends in Peshawar share a common belief that it is the Taliban who must be stopped and I agree. This time, violence is a necessary means to put an end to a brutal movement who care more for their selfish belief systems than for the welfare and needs of the people. The people must come first, even if it means the total annihilation of the Taliban and their followers.

They must smoke the same stuff Liberal panic artists smoke who believe only the conspiracies they dream up about "CIA" and other US gov't agencies.

The Taliban mujjahadeen have really just one message. If you don't belong in our countries, go home and leave us alone. The imposition of soldiers and "aid workers" uninvited will lead to more attacks. Imagine the Iranian Red Crescent offering help during Katrina, unasked for and unwanted? All hell would have broken loose. It's exactly the same here. Go home, and let them sort their own problems out by themselves.

Unfortunately LIBERTAS, they have been invited by the legitimate governments so their message is just all BS. Taliban are just modern day Nazis who are using intimidation and threats of violence to take over control.

Perhaps the Taliban should take the whole thing up with God. After all, He's the one sending the flood waters.

Or is He? Perhaps it's just a natural phenomenon, and God is actually sending food, money, and relief workers to His stricken children and asking that they forgive His mysterious ways.

Or maybe it's just a natural phenomenon, with human beings helping other human beings in dire need, and God only exists in the small minds of people for whom exclusion, ignorance, fear, and hatred are as natural as the wind and the rain.

The way I see it is if they attack the aid workers, they'll most likely take the food/medicine and distribute it themselves stating they are the saviors for the flood victims. I wouldn't be suprised.

This is WHY nobody gives a rats a*s about Pakistan...because they allow this idiotic group to terrorize their country for so f-ing LONG. When will it end Pakistani people?? When will you rise up and DESTROY this vermin?? Your reluctance to as a NATION to eradicate the Taliban is perhaps the main reason NO ONE ELSE IN THE FREE WORLD WANTS TO HELP YOU. That and your country's corrupt politics. You could learn a little bit from your neighbour, India.

Sorry Kyushujoe, but max is right. Pakistan's government is known for sometimes assisting "unsavory" organizations such as the taliban or other militant islamic groups so the chickens are coming home to roost. They could have started weeding them out in the first place but they didn't. When one group sees some way or tries to make a grab for power if they think they can this is what happens.
