Palestinian security forces launch rare crackdown on militants in West Bank

It was not immediately clear why the Palestinian Authority decided to launch the crackdown now.

Yeah, that's leaving me scratching my head.

Because they are terrorists and don't care if they harm their own people or not.

This isn't hard to understand.

A proper police force doesn't care about race, gender, or national origin. A proper police force just enforced the laws and shouldn't be killing anyone, unless the other side starts shooting or otherwise attacks with deadly objects.

The PA and Hamas often are on the same side, but not always. It is probably a power struggle towards the end of the war that Hamas started. If I were Israel, I'd want the PA to be the local police force, not Hamas.
